Jamaica bans Bible preaching on commuter buses

Jamaica’s public transport authorities have banned lay preachers from addressing commuters in public buses.

Jamaica is a predominantly Christian country, but many passengers have complained about the noise and disturbance.

Drivers have been instructed to politely warn religious ministers that they are no longer allowed to evangelise fellow passengers.

Fed up, I am fed up of people like you who love to criticize others and say they know nothing. What do you know and about them? Some people are intelligent, some are merely intelligent and others are not intelligent at all. I wonder why? Specifically in this era, one would think they should be intelligent.
I make it my business to hear and read the news. In other words I follow the news because I want to keep abreast of all current events. In this case I know what is occurring in the City of Toronto, Canada and elsewhere in the world. This too, is a learning process and being well aware of what is occurring.
There are some people who do not like reading and also do not like listening to the news. They do not know what is occurring under their noses and in their environment. They are not interested in what is occurring around them. All hell could break loose around them and they will not know what hit them. They will ask what happened and as they suffer?
When I state that it is illegal, not acceptable that people preach on TTC premises and in the subway and buses it is a fact. I know about what I stated. Obviously, you do not know. I do not know where your head is. You better listen to the news and read the newspapers. Also On Line news which affects us, should be of interest to us and what we should know. Make it your business to know what is occurring.
Loud music while commuting is not acceptable. If per chance I am traveling to work of all and there is loud music and even talking on the bus I could report it to the driver/conductor. They annoy most people. Even the drivers get annoyed with loud music and talking. From time to time, someone will inform another to shut up.
I will further state that one morning I got on a train and a few people were speaking loudly in the train. For God’s sake, it was early morning around 7:00 to 7:30 am. I sat there and as I was about to open the newspapers which I had, I got so fed-up of their loud talking, I shouted at them to stop. They were foreigners, Chinese, Japanese or Koreans. What made it worst, they were speaking in their language. I do not know if they could speak English but they immediately stopped. Certain types of loud talking and music bother me. Some people are not peaceful. They must always make their voices heard as if to draw attention.
Recently I was in a store and a black woman came in. My gosh! When she opened her mouth to speak, she was loud. I simply said to the clerk, “Why is she talking so loud?” I did not address her. She did not hear me. Maybe she is deaf or that some people are just loud.
If someone is talking loudly to me especially in an enclosed area, I ask them to tone down their voice. Loud music and talking reflect poorly on the originators. Furthermore, especially where loud talking is concerned, it is not ladylike or gentlemanly. These days there are not too many of them.
Jamaica did well to ban preaching which is also loud to the point of shouting at the top of the voice on a bus.
Common sense should dictate to us that people deserve some degree of peace of mind when traveling and on government property or private property as buses or trains. They also want to read what is educating, be it the newspaper or a book. There are others who are not so inclined.

what next? will there be a ban of preaching in public on a whole? No one seems to be concerned about the loud vulgar music played on those buses, but the word of God, hmmm. His word declares that we are to go into the highways and byways and compel them to come in. Most person didnt want to hear what Jeaus had to say either, when He walked this earth.

You’d be singing that same tune for a Jew, Muslim, Hindu, or Wiccan trying to “preach” in public…right? You aren’t being a hypocrite in favoring one religion over another in the public sphere…right?

It is disturbing the peace to preach loudly on a bus. This is why preaching is banned. Furthermore, as you know people of various religions and beliefs travel on the buses. It is not a wise idea for anyone to preach on the buses. I do think they are wasting their time. They are free to preach on sidewalks. While traveling on buses commuters like to enjoy some peace and quiet. They could preach on the sidewalks; also near bus stops, as long as they do not interfere with others.
Loud music should also not be played on the buses. This also happens in Dominica. Again, there is a time and place for everything. Loud music can be distracting for the driver. It could cause accidents.
I do not know if there is a law against playing loud music in Jamaica but it should be. I will cite, again, Toronto of all. People are not allowed to play loud music while traveling on Toronto Transit. If per chance you are in an area as also a store where abnormally loud music is played or is offensive you can report it to management. Ensure that they will stop the music. The same should apply in every country. Customers are always right. I always say, be respectful.

Jesus emphasized the kingdom as the only solution for mankind’s troubles. He and his apostles did this by preaching to people from village to village and from house to house.Luke 8:1 Acts 5:42 20:20)God kingdom was the theme of their preaching and teaching.

Its instructive, I think, to remember what Jesus taught. His teachings were very different from hysterical Evangelical doctrines, their self-absorbed obsession with being ‘saved’, the unchristian criticism of other beliefs, the pagan focus on blood and sin. Jesus preached love, humility, peace, charity, forgiveness, faith, the rejection of riches and wealth, and the duty we all have to care for one other. No threats or condemnations, no fire and brimstone, only love. Remember the Sermon on the Mount. Remember that “it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven”.

You must consider the era in which we reside. We are in the year 2012. Try going from house to house in this era, you could be charged for trespassing.
God does not want us to be aggressive in preaching the Gospel. Many are doing that in addition to aggressively evangelizing informing others that they are not in the correct religion and encouraging them to join their church. There is a lot of that in this era.
Why not place some pamphlets there? You would be better off praying for the conversion of others and yours as well. God hears those prayers.
St. Paul said, “Do not go where Our Lord is already preached.” This is another error of many preachers. They go about saying that they are going to save people and those who are already worshiping in their Church. This has caused many gullible to renounce their Church and join theirs. I can read and study the Bible at home. I understand what is contained in it. If I do not understand some passages, the Holy Spirit will reveal it to me as He has previously done. Our Lord said, “Ask and you shall receive…”
The saying: “Do not go where the paths lead. Go where there is no path and leave a trail.”

These loudmouth evangelical self-appointed preachers who attack other Christians and slobber with hatred of the Catholic Church are too ignorant and illiterate to realize that the Bible states that they condemn themselves to eternal hellfire when they tell another person that they are going to Hell:

“You have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for whenever you judge another you are condemning yourself” (Romans 2:1-5)

    Good for Jamaica!!!

    • January 22, 2017

      This is now 2017.

Jamaica has now decriminalized the possession of up to 2 ounces of weed. Already this has created problems.

It has not been all an up hill journey for Jamaica since they made preaching on buses illegal. Drugs, immorality, and crime have increased. This has nothing to do with bus preaching. It has much to do with the fact that we are not reaching people with the GOSPEL and getting them saved.

The GOSPEL is not religion. Jamaica is full of religion. The GOSPEL is defined in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

People need to hear the TRUTH. We are all sinners. Our sins have separated us from God. We cannot save ourselves. Christ on the cross – by His sufferings, shed blood, and death – paid the price in full for our salvation. We are saved through faith (this means through BELIEVING) apart from any good works we do.
Please read Ephesians 2:8,9,10. Also see John 3:16,17, Acts 16:31, Romans 4:5-7, and Romans 5:1.

      Continued …

      • January 22, 2017

In the 1960s my wife and I spent ten weeks in Jamaica conducting a gospel service someplace almost every evening. During this time I heard a bus preacher. He would take first prize for boldness! I do believe the man was sincere and I am sorry he is no longer allowed to preach on the buses.

However, the gospel must be preached clearly. Paul said the trumpet must not give an uncertain sound. We are called to preach THE CROSS :!: People need to hear WHY they need to be saved and HOW to be saved. If we have an opportunity to preach this GOSPEL and use the precious time we are allotted to rant and rave about religious mumble jumble we are missing an opportunity nothing can bring back to us.

To all you bus preachers who are no longer allowed to do your thing on the buses I say this. First make sure you have the facts of the GOSPEL straight in your own mind. Then take your message into the streets and into the market places.

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

There is a time and place for everything. Some people do not realize that.
I agree with the Jamaican authorities. It was time to put a stop to this mess. This is also aggressive evangelizing, forcing people to join their churches.
Anyway, God is a God of love and peace. He is not One of loud talking and preaching which deafen the ears of people and contribute to disunity and division. Some people can take it too far. They overdo it.
Imagine people coming into the buses and preaching. Can you imagine the loud talking and carrying on? It is real confusion. In addition, there are people of different religions who travel on the buses. Many do not want to hear preaching and loud preaching in their ears when they are traveling. It is bad enough they do so on the side of the roads as people pass by. Let them keep it there.
There are times when I go shopping or for some other reason and some people offer me religious pamphlets, I do not take them. Some of them ae those who renounced their Catholic faith. One, I am a Catholic Christian. I have my beliefs of my Church. I practice my religion. I have ample religious information in my home, enough to open a library as I inform others. Through the years, God has been good to me to place them in my hands. What I can distribute to others, some of my own faith, I do so be it my mail or in person. The last thing I want to hear is the preaching of other religions and reading their pamphlets which are against the teachings of my Church and faith in the first place.
I am in a Church which will assist me to obtain eternal salvation. Make no mistake about that. What I must do is to be faithful to God, faithful to this Church, practice the faith, grow in godliness, continue cultivating it, growing in spirituality, holiness and perfection. God will do the rest to assist me. Praise be to God!

Do you thnk that Jehovah is nterested on you beng Catholic or Jew? Who and what is a Catholic christian? Is that a brand of christianity? On what or whom is your faith based? It would seem that its on the Catholic Church rather than on the Savior Jesus Christ. Why can’t you be tolerant of others and their religious belief? Thats rather un-christianlike, I think. Their is nothing called a Catholic Christian its either you are born again or not. Too many of us follow what was fed to us by our parents or others and we are afraid to face the possibilty that we are not servng Christ where we worship or in the manner we we taught to worship. I will pray for you brother that you find the true meaning of christianity and that you emancipate yourself from religious slavery. Peace

The enterprise that is responsible for the trains should set that law. Toronto is somewhat a reserved City. Occasionally, some person will enter, make a statement which will cause others to laugh. Such people are not all there in their head.
In Toronto, it is the Toronto Transit Commission. Some people used to beg on the trains and issue religious pamphlets and other matters. They could be a nuisance and what we call a public nuisance.
The subway premises and trains are the property of TTC. Such people are banned. Some may try to do so but it is illegal. In any case, generally commuters ignore them. People are tired and some are sleepy when traveling to and from work. They want to get to their destination and do not want to be harassed by those people.
Having stated that, a few years ago on my way to work and back, there was an Indian man who would come into the train during rush hours. He would sit down and sometimes between people for a second or so, then get up and go and sit elsewhere. He would keep doing that. This was strange. Sometimes when the door of the train opened, he would get out and go in another one to repeat his act. He was poorly dressed. He never spoke to anyone. I thought that he had a mental problem. It was amusing to see him. Most people as I read on the train unless if we are with someone and conversing. Thank God he never came to sit near me. All sorts of people take the subway, the sane and the insane. Some go there to beg. On occasion they are selling something. The train has an alarm system. If we are bothered or that someone gets sick, we simply touch the strip and the train will stop when it gets to the next stop but the doors will remain shut. Then the conductor comes through. This is done in the event there is criminal activity on the train. The police will be called. So much more could be stated.

For one who is religious I do agree, not on the bus or subway. People must utilize their common sense and judgment. Unless someone is having a private conversation about religion with another whom they know. This is a different matter as long as it is not shouting, bothering people and disturbing the peace.

You are correct. A Church which was formed only a few years. Just let them know or let them find out that you are a Catholic and all hell breaks loose. It is as if Satan is at large which he always is anyway. The worst ones are those who left the Catholic Church. I can vouch for that. They are enemies and persecutors of the Catholic Church. Little do they know that their act is not one of love for God and for others. They appear to overlook what Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Love (and respect) one another…” This means their religion, religious beliefs and devotions. I have also expereienced it on this Website with their comments.
I have stated much on that matter and also to my family and friends. I hope to write a book on this and other relevant matters. God will take care of them in time. When they die they will see their error. I hope it will not be too late for them.

because you know the truth and they don’t . are you listening to yourself? you sound as bad as those whom you criticise.

  11. November 14, 2012

In the first place I just hate to read the word “religion” when people write or speak pertaining to “Christianity”.

That is the reason God said through His prophet Isaiah: “These people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, speaking as doctrines, the commandments of men”.

Jesus repeated those words to the men of flesh and bones, whom He walked among them throughout His days on earth. That is to say, Jesus also rebuked the man made rules, which are better known as religion.

In fact the practice of religion is the primary reason Jesus went to the cross and died for the redemption of man’s Life. Because, the practice of religion took over the true meaning of the “Law of Moses” from God Almighty, and so, according to the apostle Paul, the Law killed–that too is a long story.

I acknowledge that I am an “Evangelist” called to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, by speaking and writing, to the unheard and unsaved world. However I cannot claim the right to go on a TTC bus in Toronto to do that work. Holy Spirit has never commanded me to do so. But if He did no one would stop me, for it would have God’s work in my Life–not by my own strength.

However, the common attitude of man nowadays, especially those who go in the name of God, calling themselves Christians, but only in the flesh, is that those people simply choose to do what they call God’s work, not that God called them to do so; for most of them do not even know Him, by the power of Holy Spiri.

And so, through doing works without God’s call, they also take whatever the honors and the merit for themselves; but God has said: No flesh shall glory in His presence!

It my understanding that when God has no part in the works of man, that is the reason for all the conflicts, crisis, confusion, that alwsys end up in failure. Satan will come in disguise and to cause all sorts of trouble, but he cannot have the upper and final say in wht God has planned to be established. Never at all!

And so, if that kind work of Evangelism in Jamaica, as it is being done, was a “perfect work” of God, no man would be able to stop it.

But how could this work be a perfect work of God, when its doers are going all over the place, claiming to be Christians, but doing the works of religion–teaching in vain the rules and regualation or what is know as the doctrines of men?

      @ Liza

As with other matters, people have different views on this, some developed it and denounced it in latter years through the indoctrination of others who formed their churches but not all of them are correct.
Religion pertains to God and His Church. We cannot get to Heaven without a religion, the one and only correct and true one that God ordained.
Religion is in the dictionary from way back when before all those other churches were formed down through the ages to today. They came and met ‘religion’ in the world. They knew about it.
Do you want it taken off from the dictionary, the computer spell check, research and Thesaurus? Look it up and you will see the meaning of ‘religion’. It is here to stay until the end of time. No one and no mere words could ever change it.
You cannot have a church without having a religion or it not being a religious church. Common sense is needed here.
St. Paul wrote/taught about ‘the religious teaching of the Church’. It is in the Bible! Whatever is contained in the Holy Bible is the Word of God. Look it up.

the word religion means “a way of life”

      • November 16, 2012

        Justice and Truth

You are so full of contradiction–you will never know that about yourself. But as far as your acceptance of the “concept of religion” I do not blame you.

You have rubbed it in on me quite often, so you know that I was born and raised in the Catholic Church–you know that I know what is happening there.

Now don’t go calling me a hater, again–I don’t like that at all, because Jesus has taught me by the teachings of Holy Spirit to love all people–even my enemies, thanks to God I do not have one of those, or if I do have one I do not know who that person is–unless perhaps it is you

Anyway in as much as I understand why you believe that religion is of God–and that is definitely not true–you will never understand why I do not believe it.

Jesus told some the Pharisees who believed Him, “that they were His disciples and they would know the truth and the truth would make them free” I know this truth and the freedom it has given to me. And so, I am a person who is focused on Life in Jesus Christ, who is the only begotten Son of God, He who told us: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man can come to the Father but by Me”

The Book of Acts at Chapter 11: verse 26 tells us that “the disciples were first called Christians at Antioch” And who were the disciples? They were those, both Jews and Gentiles, who had received and believed the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Then what is the point of all of those different church names, as people carry on in the things of religion, and they do not know the Gospel of Jesus Christ–I say to you nothing! Nothing at all! Hence those people like you–Roman Catholic or not, may be in for a tragic surprise at the Judgment Seat of God.

The person, identified as Badman, said that religion is a “way of life” I am sure that person meant to say that religion is part of certain people’s “culture”–and culture is a lifestyle that does not always involve God Almighty, Eternal Spirit, Love, who lives in His Person of Love–His name is Jesus Christ. I could name a few of those cultures but I prefer to leave it alone.

I am not finshed but this one is too long so I will continue below.

      • November 16, 2012

I am a person who is born again of “Love” the Spirit and primary nature of God Almighty. When the Father and the Son came to live with me by the Power of Holy Spirit, He began to teach me everything I should know about Himself, right after He warned me about religion, by my Channel of Faith.

You are focused on the “Catholic Church” you do not even know that you don’t have a testimony of Jesus Christ in your Life. All you talk about is your existence in the church, but being in the a church does not make a person disciple of Jesus Christ. I have notice that you stand in defense for your church but you do not stand in defense for Jesus Christ–I wonder why?

The apostle Paul teaches us that “we can only be saved by the Grace of God, through faith, not by works, lest any man should boast”

Religion does not cause people to apply faith–the practice is all based on works–if you had read and understood the messages of the apostle Paul in the Bible, there is no way you would claim that he taught about religion.

And by the way two thirds of the writings of the New Testament belong to Paul–read them from the Book of Romans right down to the Book of Philemon

And so, no thanks to the dictionary and the rest of the stuff which you recommended here, I do not need them; for they are still from the wisdom and philosophy of human beings like myself. It is like a dollar bill which wanders from one hand to the other–that is the reason the majority of people, including yourself, do not know and understand the things of the Spirit, for you people are not being taught by Holy Spirit.

“For the natural man does not receive the things of the things of God’s Spirit for they are foolishness to him, neither can he know them for they are spiritually discerned”. 1st. Corinthians 2: 14 And now, I am finished!

No one needs to force their belief on another person. These evangelists believe that if you are not a christian then you are bound for hell. What about people with other beliefs are they bound for hell also? We are so confused by religion that we do do not even know what to believe. Have we ever questioned what we believe? Where did it originate and why we believe the way we do? Were we created with a religion and can religion really save us?

Yes! It could cause enmity as we know very well. I do not let that bother me. I have my faith in God of all and I practice my faith. It gives much peace of mind and happiness. I will always speak the truth even though some think it is not the truth. As I have stated, when we die we will know which church is The One and Only True Church. I would advise the deniers and skeptics to pray to God for discernment. He is the one who enlightens. Humility will help.
The New Testament: “Do not depend on your own understanding…” Too many are doing that which is why they reject God and refuse to practice the faith. Try to utilize your common sense. There will be no difference of opinion in Heaven which will cause disunity and division. Ask yourself which one is the correct one. Better yet, ask God. He will reveal it to you in time. Try to utilize your common sense. Only by faith ‘in God’ you might believe.

Don’t worry Caribbean, one of these days you will look to the North, the South, the East and the West for the everlasting God to save you, but it will be too late. The islands were all God fearing at one point, but the new generation is pushing God further and further away – But don’t you worry, one of these days all of you will be on your knees looking up to Jesus for help.

Most of those Christian-bashers on DNO were once Christians. But they allowed the pleasureS and riches of this life to choke the word from them and in an attempt to justify their behaviors they shun Jesus. It makes them feel good to THINK there is not a God so they can do whatever they please.

But it is written that Christians will be persecuted in the world for the sake of Jesus. Fear not, for I am with you until the end, says Jesus.

Ok, proceed with your bashing – I am not moved one bit.

    • November 15, 2012

      @waitukubuli-original

You are right on here, with the saying: “But it is written that Christians will be persecuted in the world for the sake of Jesus. Fear not, for I am with you until the end, says Jesus”

Did you read in the Book of Acts, when Peter and John was lashed by the Jewish Leaders, after Peter called for the healing of a lame man, by his faith and in the name of Jesus Christ–and that healing happened? See that story at the Book of Acts in Chapter 3

Well Peter and John were so happy to get that lashing, for the sake of their works by faith in Jesus; and there was no way that lashing could have stopped them from speaking in the name of Jesus Christ–which was actually the reason for that lashing, as a warning to them.

That is why I said in my message above, that when it is the work of Holy Spirit, which we are doing, there is no human law, rule, or authority that can stop us.

That is the reason I would not ever say that people were Christians, of the Spirit, who has now turned into bashers of Jesus and Christianity. A person is either a disciple of Jesus Christ, who knows the attitude and conducts of a Christian, who puts the traits of Love on display– of course Love is God’s primary nature–or that person is not of God at all. For Jesus told His disciples: “These things they will do to you, because they have not known the Father nor Me” John 16: 3

In this world there are millions of people who are church goers or are involved in church activities, somehow, but they are bathed in religion and its works–not the blood of Jesus Christ. That is why I will not condemn a person who claims not to be a part of religion, for I am such a person, as well. However I know that worship to God and fellowship with my church family is an important role in my Life–my attitude and conducts among them is to show them the ways of God and Life, not the works of religion.

When God called me into the Life of Love with Him in 1992, the first thing He warned me about was not becoming involved in religion again; for I was born and raised in the Roman Catholic Church–becoming a very active young person on behalf of my church family in Giraudel. But my activities were based on good works, which was not exactly God’s work, for I did not know better. That is the reason those activities died in me the minute I set foot on the grounds of Toronto Canada.

Nonetheless our God of Love, knew my ignorance, that was why He started to teach me about Himself, by the substance of faith in my conscience, which provoked me to consistently study His Words, in the Holy Bible.

In 1998, six years after God called me back to Him, He filled me with Holy Spirit who would protect me from the interference of human wisdom and philosophy being integrated in His Word through continuous translation–that was 14 years ago this year.

Since then, I need no man to teach me about God and Life, not even the “Great Billy Graham”. The reason is because I have the new covenant that God made with His chosen people, through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob–that new covenant was given to me from Jesus Christ, and by my channel of faith.

And so, I can say the same thing which you have said here, to those who are caged in their rules and laws of religion: “OK, proceed with your bashing – I am not moved one bit–the truth is that I cannot be moved, rooted and ground in Love, the Spiritual nature the Living God, who is my Life. The practice of Christianity has nothing to do with religion, for religion leaves a bad taste in God’s mouth–He has said that He will vomit that lukewarm attitude and conducts out of His mouth.

Yes the islands were all god fearing at one point. Including the slaves who feared their white masters who claimed that their god had ordained them to be in servitude to them.

And before the caribbean islands were ‘god-fearing’, they were populated only by people who basically worshipped nature. Then the ‘god-fearing’ people came and slaughtered, enslaved and exploited.

      God-fearing indeed.

It is so funny what religion can do to the mind of people. Jesus and God. God to save us, and Jesus we need to go down on our knees to ask for help. Where did you get that idea that the Islands were all God fearing People. What is this foolishness about fearing God.

When you said it is written that Christians will be persecuted in the world for the sake of Jesus, believing such thing bewilders me.Do you know more atrocities have been done in this world against non Christians in he name of Jesus. Have you not heard of the the Dark ages or the inquisition. Here is a famous quote regarding religion Religion is the masterpiece of the art of animal training, for it trains people as to how they shall think.”

Gary, you and others with likewise mind need to be more informed and better informed. You got your information from the enemies of God and of Christianity. I suggest you try to obtain the fact. You will not find it from those who reject God and refuse to practice Christianity. They are not experts of what occurred in those days. They make excuses for not practicing Christianity and give all sorts of reasons why they do not want to practice it and why they should not. They distort what truly occurred. Satan is helping you very well.
On that inevitable day they will get a rude awakening but it will be too late for them. It was too late for some of those who predeceased us. They are called heretics. So are those today who reject God and Christianity and speak evil of Christianity. They are also scoffers. You are living devoid of God’s blessing and graces. Pray to God for enlightenment.

\”The fool has said in his heart there is no God.\” – The Psalms.

People who say they do not believe in God don\’t have an intellectual problem with the faith. They have a problem with morality. These are people who savor sin like they would roll a sweet morsel around in their mouths. They do not want to give up the sins they enjoy so much. If they became believers thy know they would be expected to change their lifestyle.

Unless God in His grace saves them they will die in their sins and go into a lost eternity.

If you choose to reject Christ there is not much I can do about that. But please don\’t pretend it is an educational issue.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.

      • November 14, 2012

        @Freethinker

It disturbs me that you keep taking “religion” which tells me that you simply rely on the teachings of men like yourself–your human understanding is like “6” for “half a dozen” in 12–who can say that is not true, pertaining to human wisdom? But what does this kind of wisdom matter, where God and Life is concerned? Nothing at all!

Lack of faith, which would bring you knowledge of God and Life, is your predicament, but of course you can never comprehend this truth.

But it is appalling that you think you have the authority to tell others that they are wrong, ignorant, and “knuckle-dragging buffoons” as you have declared above–you don’t have that authority in any area, whatsoever!

For by whose authority would you be able to speak or write like that, if it is not the authority of Holy Spirit, but you do not accept that authority in your existence?

And yes! Holy Spirit is the supreme authority in Life, and this Life comes through faith in Jesus Christ, who said that a human being continues in his and her death condition without Him.

Also, religion did not teach that to me–otherwise I would be like you, and to deny this blessed truth, that is from the our Living God of Love, by the influence (Holy Spirit) of His Person of Love–the Man who is Jesus Christ.

Hey seeing as the holy spirit is the supreme authority on life, I hope you ask his/her/its blessing before putting on your computer, before logging in, before opening your browser, before logging on to DNO. And I wonder if it is the holy spirit that enables information to travel and high speeds all over the world enabling you to make your comment. Somehow I think it is rather human intelligence (not wisdom, which is a pretty vague and stupid word) that makes this possible.

But yeah go ahead and believe in your holy spirit.

In Dominica the same should be done to people who talk loud, loud, loud in your ears on their cell phones while you’re traveling on a bus. Once in Toronto, going home after work, I took a turn at a young man who was sitting near me on a crowded bus and talking loudly on his cell phone. Loud music is not healthy for the ears. In time, people could develop an illness due to this. They could become deaf.
If one is at a party or club, it is a different matter but on a bus? There are others on the bus who do not want to listen to or hear loud music. There are times they cannot even hear their own voice.
Common bus drivers. There are others on the buses who do not want to listen to or hear loud music. Keep your music low, soft and soothing. Is this not better on the ears? :)

This has nothing to do with religon and everything to do with peace, tranquility and quality of life. In an increasingly noisy world such intrusions are selfish and destructive. Sure, same way Dominica NEEDS to have the BALLS to ban loud music in neighborhoods and little rum shops that’s ruining the lives of home owners, elderly & centenarians, making their everyday miserable. U-all know what i’m talking about.

It’s high time to enforce laws already on the books. I hope Inspector Laurent and Supperintenden David are strengthed or persuaded by this, and ketching up on the news. Good for them–although that bit in the Consitution about “propagating” your religion is worrying, unless Jamaica is willing to allow Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Wiccans, and every other religion to similarly “propagate” their faith. Unfortunately, the lawmakers tend to forget that Christianity isn’t the only religion in the world, nor does it have any special claims to truth.

Wow!! I have witnessed preaching on the bus system in Jamaica and found it quite interesting. I always thought that someone would challenge this practice with their right of not being disturbed on public transportation. If I know Jamaicans well, this might provoke more praise and worship on the bus without having a preacher. It would be interesting to note the reaction of the evangelical community. The Governor General is an Adventist ordained minister.
