LIAT dismisses inaccurate media report

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, July 01, 2011 – LIAT says a news report on the Antigua-based Observer Radio on Friday that its Engineers had walked off the job is inaccurate.

Corporate Communications Manager Desmond Brown said that the airline’s Engineers were not involved in the two-day work stoppage by some ground staff earlier this week, neither have they been engaged in any form of protest since then.

“LIAT’s Engineers continue to act responsibly and are currently at work supporting the operations of the Company,” Brown said.

Mr. Brown also explained that LIAT employees were due to be paid on the 30th of June and not the 28th as stated in the Observer Radio news item.

The Company would like to reiterate that salaries for the month of June for all employee groups were processed on Thursday June 30.

Tell Mr Brown stop being a parrot and tell Liat stop playing its dirty tricks looking for public sympathy. Liat has been flying for so long making money and their top executives are just wasting it, wining and dining at company’s expense without producing ofcourse. They want to close and refuse to pay the poor workers who have toiled for them all these years with meagre salaries, now they are talking about cash flow problem, fire go burn liat.

LIAT is one of the travelling public’s biggest mistakes. LIAT may be our only carrier but I have no sympathy, because they treat us too badly.
