Noted political scientist, Professor Neville Duncan Monday criticised regional governments for taking a “very long time” in appointing a new secretary general for the regional integration movement, but said he had confidence in Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, the person appointed, to “do great things”.
Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders last week Thursday announced that Dominican-born Irwin LaRocque, the present Assistant Secretary-General for Trade and Economic Integration at the Guyana-based CARICOM Secretariat, would replace Sir Edwin Carrington, who stepped down in January after 18 years in the post.
CARICOM is a complete waste of time. Just another opportunity for the guys to get together for a drink. Completely useless.
