Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has left the country today, along with a three man-delegation from Dominica to attend the first ever Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Mexico Summit
carded for Cancun, Mexico.
At the summit, the recovery efforts for Haiti, trade and development, climate change and a number of other issues will be looked at, noted Dominica’s Non-resident Ambassador to Libya Emmanuel Nanton.
“When the prospects of trade and development are being discussed the members will use the model of the Caricom Single Market and Economy as the flagship for going forward. Prospects in tourism, energy security, crime and security will also be looked at,” he said.
Nanthan said following the Mexico Summit CARICOM is expected to have a summit with Latin America to discuss ways in which the both can form a partnership.
