NASSAU, Bahamas — Hundreds of protestors fought with police in Nassau on Wednesday during a demonstration against the sale of a majority stake in the Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) to Cable and Wireless Communications (CWC).

A series of clashes occurred as the demonstrators forcibly removed barricades the police had set up to block them from entering Parliament Square.

The downtown drama intensified as Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham made his mid-year budget statement in the House of Assembly.

i think the world is having protestism,,,, this occurs when gov’ts have refused to heed to the call of the people,,, it starts with symptoms which can be seen clearly in the skerrit administration,,, the end result can be disastrous if not treated,,, for it can be contagious,,,, young to old will join in the fight when protestism boils over,,, i’m calling on the skerrit administration to heed to the call of the populace,,, we need a gov’t which is transparent in its affairs,,,, so far for years the d.l.p has been anything but transparent,,, m.o.u’s with china and Venezuela has been kept away from us,,, villas and questionable land deals to dual citizenship has been pressing issues,,,, we keep getting poorer while a select few enjoy all the amenities of lavish living,,, this is a dangerous combination,, for i’m not a hater but when i see u passin n ur dog can eat better than my children n i know i try my best,,, it leaves me no choice but to put wrong its place and replace it with right,,,,,
