REDjet cancels flights to three Caribbean destinations

Problems with the hydraulic system has forced the Caribbean’s first low budget carrier, REDjet, to cancel flights between three Caribbean destinations.

The Barbados-based carrier said that until further notice, its flights to and from Guyana, Trinidad and Barbados has been cancelled.

In the interest of passenger and cabin crew safety we have decided to cancel our service for now but are optimistic that our engineers, who have been working around the clock, will ensure that we are up and running as soon as possible,” said the airline’s chief operating officer Kevin Dudley.

CAL dont cancel flights they crash them in Guyana and that Trinidad airline has new planes. Redjet priority is passengers safety first but they must add to their fleet sooner rather than later. The prelimary reports from CAL crash doesnt paint a rosy picture of CAL pilots priorites.

I haven’t looked at the preliminary report yet, but I can say that i noticed in the pictures from the guyana overshoot, that leading edgeslats were not visible thus causing me to believe that an improper flap configuration was used on landing which then redirects the cause to being pilot error.

I have no clue why you are singling out Caribbean Airliners/ Air Jamaica, when majority of the rather established Airlines have had far sever accidents.

      You are obviously biased.

How is Redjet supposed to service it’s ever expanding routes with only TWO(2) rather “second hand” aircrafts?

I know we in the Eastern Caribbean are “desperate” for lower cost air fares. But in the process I hope we don’t sacrifice service quality, particularly reliability and most importantly safety.

As individuals, we believe we know whats best for us and demand the right to decide for ourselves. But when it comes to air travel it is the responsibility of our governments, through the appropriate regulatory bodies, to protect us from ourselves.

Safety first, Redjet, this is what your priority MUST be. After all, man built these machines; they are expected to give problems sometimes. And I said “man” meaning both men and/or women, don’t get smart on me people. Lol

I’m suprised to hear this from the mouth of a DOMINICAN 8-O , They blast LIAT for maintenance and delay, but LIAT get you there within 24 Hours.

Enginneers working around the clock, sonuds fishy to me. Low cost carries are generally noted for low maintainence practices, “buyer beware”
