REDjet to announce new routes

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Monday July 25, 2011 – REDjet has responded to numerous queries about its new routes with a promise of an announcement in the next two days.

The Barbados-based low-budget carrier, which last week got approval to fly to Trinidad and Jamaica, made a brief statement on its Facebook page yesterday.

“The big question is Trinidad to Guyana and a launch in Jamaica…you’ll have to wait for our first announcement on Wednesday!” it said. “New routes coming soon.”

I notice, Administrator, that my question regarding serving all the destinations with just two planes was removed. Why?

I’ve just done a fare comparison on a flight from Barbados to Guyana (the only route that RedJet now servers) departing Barbados on the 27th and returning on the 29th, with exactly what Liat offers – one piece of luggage up to 50 pounds (which Liat allows free), no priority boarding, which Liat doesn’t offer. I couldn’t get flight insurance on the RedJet flight (so I just pray that nothing happens). You would be amazed. Liat Total Package:$393.40 USD. RedJet Total Price US$381.23. US$12 difference, but not travel insurance on RedJet. If I want SMS confirmation, that’s an extra dollar, If I want priority boarding, another $20. So there really is no difference in fares between the two carriers. The $9.99 is gimmick. It will come with lots of conditions, and they may only offer five or so per flight. What RedJet has done is generated lots of PR.
