Brantley said Venezuela has been critical to the development of St. Kitts

NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (June 16, 2016) – Minister of Foreign Affairs in St. Kitts and Nevis Hon. Mark Brantley, says the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela can count on the full support of the government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis in its time of difficulty.

The minister’s comments came when he addressed the 46th Organisation of American States (OAS) General Assembly in the Dominican Republic on June 14, 2016. The theme for the three-day meeting was “Institutional Strengthening for Sustainable Development in the Americas.”

“Our dear friend Venezuela and her people can count on the full support of St. Kitts and Nevis and her people,” he said. “We are a single family in this our Americas and we must act in unison and with alacrity to fashion peaceful solutions to differences and conflicts which can and will sometimes arise,” he said, regarding ongoing unrest in Venezuela.

Mr. Brantley stated that the Federal Government continues to watch with concern the difficulties being experienced in Venezuela.

He said over the past several years, no other country has been as critical to the development of St. Kitts and Nevis as Venezuela, whose hand of friendship extends across the Caribbean Sea and deep into the Americas.

However, Mr. Brantley stated that in spite of the difficulties the rule of law should be respected.

“Let the record show that my government supports unconditionally the people of Venezuela and we call on all actors to respect the rule of law, the constitution and the democratic norms of Venezuela. We, in this hemisphere, hold dear our aspiration to our hemisphere being a zone of peace.

“We therefore expect that any and all difficulties in any member state will be resolved peacefully, through dialogue with all stakeholders both from the body, political and civil society,” he said.

Venezuela behaved like a super power and abused their resources. Rather than the so called bro Chavez elevate Venezuela to a level of economic based, decency , good governance, he thought he would live forever, this grand big dada brother. That is what happens when you fail to build the base and foundation of a nation, after you are gone and kill it, it will crumble when the rain comes and when the tides force winds changes. Now there is a bus driver driving to that bus when he has no licence to do so.
The Skerrititis and others became dependent on that resource, travelled frequently and now oil price fall, Venezuela is still falling. Bad, poor government. Dominica is also falling deeper, much deeper, while our leaders out there begging rather than respecting Dominicans they out there begging.

St Kitts/Nevis is a member state of the Bolivarian Alliance of the Americas (ALBA). Per the ALBA- Caracas Declaration signed by Member States in Caracas in 2015, ALBA pledged to support Venezuela, so the Honourable Minister is only reiterating that stance. But he should know that the ALBA Declaration also calls for Member Nations to “spread the truth about
Venezuela”. The Bank of Alba has allegedly assisted St Kitts with a loan of over 400 million and Petro Caribe funds were allegedly being used to assist former sugar workers in St Kitts. The sad truth is that the people of Venezuela need their money back.

Peace only comes when those in charge can admit they screw up (confessions) and move on. You cannot be wrong and strong, to put in simple terms, and expect peace. As long as there are power hungry men and women who don’t believe in thier people there will never be peace. I rest my case.

Wrong about what? Free education?, sustainable resources?, Low fuel prices?, equal opportunity?, affordable housing?, renewable energy?

Venezuela is on the right path, the powers that be are against Valenzuela because those very same people want to exploit Caribbean nations and Venezuela has provided low cost fuel, affordable housing, debt forgiveness, no interest loans, expertise and even rescue services as in the wake of Erika.

The only people that mad are the ones that not making money on the suffering of others.

You dumb head, have we benefited from low cost fuel? If so, why are our electricity costs still the highest in the region? Skerrit put the profit from the fuel sales into the Dominica National Petroleum company and used it as he saw fit. You think we are all blind, deaf and cannot talk like the three monkeys rolled into one you represent? Ask Austrie where the money came from for him to build his houses, I’m sure he will tell you it is nothing illegal but that is different from being questionable. Why you think Clarence Christian has not published his audit report fro, three years?

Venezuela is on the right path? You must be insane or woefully ignorant my friend. The powers that be? You mean the government? The PSUV? Yeah they definitely are against Venezuela because it seems all their policies are meant to promote an ideology (socialism) and fight a war they made up themselves, meanwhile the only effect those policies are having is to make life more and more difficult for VENEZUELANS.

And the only people that are mad are the ones that not making money on the suffering of others? Are you kidding me? Right now the people benefiting the most from the situation in Venezuela are the members of the middle and upper class and the rich. The volatile economy with that high level of inflation and thriving black market is making life sweet for anybody who has access to foreign currency. Most of those middle and upper class have that access. Not to mention the government cronies who are paid for their support.

Meanwhile the poor people in the barrios are suffering.

Your very last two lines says it all “The only people that mad are the ones that not making money on the suffering of others”.
You agree there is suffering and some people making money on the suffering people. Your reasoning and logic is so twisted it is not funny. Nothing is free. There is a cost for extracting, processing, and transportation of resources, teachers get a salary and construction has material cost and labour cost. Nothing is free. Egual opportunity cannot exist when some work hard and others sit on thier butts. Laziness cannot be rewarded. You said it best they taking advantage of suffering and poor people.
