Trinidad now rivals Jamaica as the most violent country in the Caribbean

Trinidad and Tobago now rivals Jamaica as the most violent country in the Caribbean, with the number of annual murders rising sharply from 98 to 550 over the last decade, with some areas in the Port of Spain police division being listed among the most dangerous in the world.

This is the finding of a new United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) draft report on Human Development and Citizen Security in the Caribbean, which noted, among other things, that the murder rate for Port of Spain was comparable to that of Baghdad.

Trinidad and tobago now September 2017 stand and support Dominica after its terrible harricane Maria. Look how times has changed, we having more than ten times Dominica population if we were the population size as Dominica our murder rate would be under 50 yearly these comments upset me mainly I believed we are the friendliest nation in the Caribbean we help every Caribbean country in their time of need, to see these egocentric comments from Dominicans about T&T its like they happy to see our country fail unfortunate for many we still continue to weather the storm in our challenging times when others are blown away my condolences to the life lost in harricane Maria and irma and despite many wish the worst for T&T like always we open our doors for Dominicans in their time of distress…

Rise in crime is directly reflective of the leadership of the country.

From a person whom flown there over 100 times in one year, I did grown fond of the country until the mass crime rate increased. Such a beautiful place yet I personally do not think the government is really doing enough to control this situation.

.The media has stated a lot of things to say about T@T, some true, and a lot not true. The present government bought in a state of emergency to catch criminals, especially “big fish”. The big fish are free and conducting business as usual, the ordinary man on the ground, have no access to gun running or trafficking cocaine. They are the stoolpigeons,(blacks) killing each other for turf (sleeping still, but walking)

The Government and powers that be, need to ensure that these criminals do not infliltrate Dominica, or if they do are duly punished

Trinidad is a wonderful country, oil and resource rich, talented and beautiful people, but plagued by crime, racism, corruption.
It has been been like that for as long as I can remember. I grew up there, its just so unfortunate that a place with so much to offer has so much which offends. Having said that….I cant wait to visit home and my family, have ah ‘real roti’, enjoy the Trini sense of humor and listen to the best steelbands ever!!

Do they have the death penalty over there? If they don’t, I’m sure if they put it into placed and capital punished a few people and said “This IS what will happen to you!” the crime rate would go down some.

when i read things i read into small details. m question here is, why is 83 percent of gang members are of african origin while only 13 percent east indian? trinidad is segregated, in my view. from experience and obviously from the figures there. there must be deep rooted problems leading to that behavior

The truth of the matter is that people of african descent are more enticed by the gang mentality. Might sound racist but it’s true. Think it has something to do with the tribal practices of our ancestors. Has a lot to do with evolution and psychology too. Everywhere you go you see this trend.

The God is a Trini quip from trinis always makes me guffaw Lily. Trinidad is highly overrated the UNDP report that its nothing more than a murderous hell hole paints a true picture. An English cricket journalist last year described Trinidad as the most forgetable place on earth. I for one will not be visiting anytime soon too many drug and gun runners not to mention killers, sadists, child molesters and lunatics walking around mumbling god is trini………….lmao
