Upsurge in porn shared on social media, St Lucia police concerned

phone pornPolice Monday said they are concerned at the upsurge in pornographic videos and photographs posted on the various social websites featuring young St Lucians.

The Community Relations Branch (CRB) say most of the videos appear to be in retaliation for relationships gone sour.

“I wonder whether our young people are not thinking,” Corporal Ted King of the CRB told reporters.

King said that in order to help young people make wise decisions in relation to the use of social media, the CRB has intensified its visits to 38 primary and secondary schools, delivering lectures on the pitfalls of inappropriate use of social media.

Guess St Lucia is following the lead of the happenings in the States….

People display themselves on social media to:

Attract the opposite sex in the hope of winning a date.

    To prostitute themselves.

    To sell pictures of themselves.

To get the attention of others who may have pictures, videos, or DVDs to sell.

When they post inappropriate pictures of others on social media it is usually done without permission. It is done to hurt. It can cause problems for life. There have been cases of young people taking their lives in Canada because of the embarrassment and shame. It is often an act of revenge. Somebody has broken off a relationship, or stolen a boyfriend or girlfriend. Or it is a form of bullying to target somebody of another race or a gay person.

There should be laws making this a crime in every country. Appropriate penalties should be in place. Parents must do a better job of supervising their children on the internet.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

“Parents must do a better job of supervising their children on the internet.”
      —————————————————————————————
The truth is that many parents, in St.Lucia and through out the region, know very little about the internet in comparison to their children.

      • March 16, 2015

        Same in Canada.

Teaching computers in the schools has left many in my generation standing still. 8-O It is something we were not prepared for.

This should serve as a wake up call. Mums and dads must learn fast how to supervise the children. 8)

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

Man, I rather eat corn than watch porn. To watch people copulating like dogs on screen has no appeal to me, its enough to put one off sex really. Pathetic stuff.

    • March 4, 2015

      True enough.

One can feel sorry for those who seek sexual satisfaction by means of porn whether it be on the page or the screen. This is a form of fornication which means any sex outside of a Bible marriage between a man and a woman.

Pornography is fed by loneliness and often an escape from the hurts in life. It traps those who have not found genuine satisfaction in a loving husband and wife relationship. Porn comes in many forms but the internet is the most subtle. Parents especially need to know what their children are watching online and have a way of controlling it. Better not to have a computer in your home than to allow the devil to use it to destroy the soul of a child.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

      Well put!

Porn reduces what was intended to be a meaningful relationship between a husband and wife in a loving marriage to a pre-programed exercise experienced by animals for the continuity of their species.

Those who indulge in it the most are men who are found wanting in the romance department and experience very little true sexual satisfaction as it was meant to be. The huge porn industry takes advantage of these people and feeds off their loneliness and frustration.

It is a social evil that should be opposed on every front not only for religious reasons but for the mental health of the nation.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

DNO, I heard that some St. Lucians were arrested or are suspects in a scam which was devised to attract students to study at a university in St. Lucia. They paid tuition fees. Two sets of them arrived in St. Lucia and there was no school for them.
I informed the one who told me, DNO will post it. I am surprised that I did not (yet) read it on your Website. I expect that it is true for I was told they were housed at a centre in St. Lucia.
The person and I speculated that this scam may not have originated from a Website in St. Lucia but that St. Lucia was used. Who knows?
If it is true, when I get the weekend Caribbean newspapers (3 of them) this news should be published in them.

Whoever thought that these St. Lucians would do something like that? I thought they had at least some pride and keep their personal affairs off social media.
I have read and heard it all through the Toronto Media about those who reside in this part of the world including the US. These people have no respect for themselves. They appear not to care about their reputation, present and future and do not realize how harmful this could be to them.
If you are rejected and/or a relationship went sour, why post derogatory comments about the other party on the Internet? Speak to your parent(s), friends, someone whom you can confide in and pour out your heart to them. I am certain these reputable people whom you can trust will provide you with some excellent and wise advice. Refrain from posting such comments on social media. It is not wise to do. Consider your future and when seeking employment. Employers worldwide do access social media and read what is posted and by whom.

this message to students and young people should not about the use of social media but about the use of our bodies… our little temples that God gave us was not meant to be abused for sexual pleasures in all friendly relationships… we should learn to take care of ourselves as young men and women.. if we never have premarital sexual intercourse we will never be one of those videos. this is what the message should be. take care of yourself. take care of your reputation.

What about those videos people post of their wives? Or those married couples that make videos and save them in camera memory or flash drives and carelessly hand them over to people for repair or whatever purpose. I can’t begin to tell you of the things I’ve seen just doing computer repair works while backing up files etc and from people who are prudent perfect christian types. The point is people need to learn how to use technology and be aware that it can be used for harm. People would be way more wary with digital information if they were more cognizant of how easy it can be spread

Case in point take a quick browse through facebook and see how many people have their profiles open that anyone can see all their pictures in bikini, family get togethers etc.

      COMBOS:

      Thank you for speaking out!

What you have said is so wise. I hope young people will read it and take it seriously. A good reputation does not come to the individual by chance. It is the result of knowing the right way to go early in life and committing ourselves to it. Then it must be guarded at all times.

If these principles are taught to the young people in our homes, churches, and schools there will be hope for the nation.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.
