US fails to honour multi-million dollar WTO award to Antigua

Spencer

The United States is still to pay Antigua the US$21 Million in damages awarded by the World Trade Organization (WTO) in a 2005 Internet gambling case.

The WTO had ruled that the US had violated international trade agreements by prohibiting Antigua’s operation of offshore Internet gambling sites.

Antigua claimed that it has lost US$3.4 billion a year due to the US action, but the WTO ultimately awarded US$21 million in damages against the US which is yet to be settled.

At least Antigua had the testicular fortitude to challenge the might of the USA without cowering. They may not get the money awarded but they certainly will get the RESPECT.

That can’t be said for Dominica who is afraid of thie shadow, and will have chinese labourers foisted upon them even when they are taking a loan which they have to pay back. In the meanwhile thier people are unemployed and the economy continues to decline.

Don’t expect a penny Mr. Spencer. The US signs on to agreements and when there is a ruling against them, their solution is to change the rules.

If it was the Antigua owing the US, the US would seize Antiguan government accounts in the US and take the money. MIGHT IS RIGHT :?:
