Amid the destruction and devastation of Category 5-ranked Hurricane Irma, Venezuela is sending over 10 tons of supplies to the Caribbean islands of Antigua and Barbuda, in addition to a roster of rescue personnel.
The Bolivarian National Armed Forces, FANB, transported 20 firefighters and 34 civil defense personnel to the hurricane-struck islands, along with 10 tons of supplies and medicines. These supplies included 100 mattresses, more than 100 cases of medicine, 200 pairs of boots and 1200 cases of water.
Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said that Antigua and Barbuda’s prime minister, Gaston Browne, had spoken with the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro less than 24 hours before, requesting humanitarian aid.
“Prime Minister Gaston Browne … the first call he made was to Venezuela, because he knows that Venezuela is the first country that would respond to the call of its Caribbean brothers,” Arreaza told reporters.
Dominica, take a bow, the “mem” Venezuela they sided with the USA against have and continue to come through. When your house is under water and on fire, only then you really knows who your neighbors and friends are . Only God knows why Dominica was speared this massive and destructive natural catastrophe.
A friend in need is a friend indeed – Venezuela, the first, always ready, enthusiastic and quick to assist in such times.
Thank you Venezuela! God bless you!
VIVA VENEZUELA
They can say whatever they bad things about Venezuela…..But Venezuela is a very helpful country always ready to send a helping hand….God bless Venezuela.
God bless Venezuela!
All I have to say is “Viva Alba.” Long live Papa Chavez.
Thank you Venezuela, that’s why we will always vote against US intervention in your internal affairs…. You are a true Friend INDEED!!!!
Venezuela providing aide to neighboring islands in times of need has absolutely nothing to do with god. There is such a thing called reciprocity – mutual agreement among nations to help each other during times of disaster. Research please.
Very well. Thank you Venezuela.
Good for them but charity begins at home. Starving and sick people need urgent help in Venezuela
Blessings to our extended regional family! They have been very generous to us over the years, and during our most difficult times, Venezuela never hides its face. One love!
God bless Maduro and the government and people of Venezuela. These people show that we all go through hard times but that does not stop us from giving what we can. Viva Venezuela.
Venezuela and other countries signed on to ALBA must assist. That is the deal they signed including and not excluding war. If the situation gets worst in Venezuela the islands will have to send in police and soldiers.
Viva Venezuela. You are giving out of the little you have . God bless Venezuela
Kudos to Venezuela! Always the first to respond to SIDS disasters. Truly heartbreaking this happened, but the support that the islands will receive will be unwavering. Thanks Venezuela.
That is the faithful neighbour who has been true to this region since Papa Chavez’s time. I am so happy that Venezuela is sending help to its Caribbean neighbours. God speed!
It is interesting that Cuba is also sending help…100 doctors.
