Brancker John ordained Roman Catholic priest

“Keep the candle burning, keep the candle burning.”

Former calypsonian and newly ordained priest, Fr. Brancker John, could not help but inject something from his past life into his ordination ceremony on Saturday afternoon, June 29.

Those in attendance joyfully sang his hit calypso along with him.

“This is not Carnival City, you know,” he remarked, much to the delight of those who packed the St. Peter’s Catholic church in Colihaut.

Indeed it was not Carnival City but the conclusion of a solemn ceremony during which the the two-time calypso king, known back then as De Brakes, was ordained a Roman Catholic priest.

Main celebrant, Bishop of the Diocese of Roseau, Gabriel Malzaire, reminded John that from the day of his ordination onwards, he was not going to be the same.

“From today onwards you will not be the same, I guarantee you, you will not be the same,” Bishop Malzaire said during the homily. “Essentially you will maintain the same features, the same form, the same stature …the sacraments will impose on you a pact and you will have the power to effect a certain kind of change to people’s life. What a privilege you will have.”

He was told to use that power of change to the “best of your ability.”

The bishop described him as “Christ’s ambassador” who must give to the people of God “authentic witness.”

The new priest was warned that he should not ‘short change’ the people of God but should “keep them encouraged by your person and by a mission that is rooted in Jesus Christ.”

He was further told that the people of God must see him as a man on fire, a man of sacrifice, a man of prayer but he must also keep his feet planted on the ground. “So that you may best able to respond to the people in their pastoral needs,” the bishop said.

Bishop Malzaire pointed out that Jesus Christ is in search of ambassadors with great spiritual and physical fortitude and that John should not run away from the tough questions that may come his way while he “witnesses for the Lord.”

In an interview last year with Dominica News Online, John described his journey to religious life as ‘a long struggle’ especially since he had to leave the young lady he intended to marry to explore his call.

Before he entered religious life, he worked in many government departments and was once a senator in parliament.

He ran as a United Workers Party candidate for Colihaut in the 2000 general elections but lost.

“And remember me the malayway,” John, using a line from another of his hit calypso, concluded as the ordination ceremony came to a close.

         You are not God. You did not establish the Catholic Church. There is nothing I can learn from you. Throughout the years, those who formed their religion have developed their mentality about what should be with the help of Satan. They are wrong.
I am not interested in any religion that was founded after the Catholic Church was established approximately 2000 years ago. I have no interest in accessing that website. You are not an expert on Catholic matters. The enemies of the Catholic Church are not experts. When will you learn that? They do not have the answer.
Leave Catholicism to Catholics. This is my message for you and other enemies. Cease bothering, harassing and persecuting the Catholic Church. You are not a member. Stay out of it. As I always state, one day God will reveal the truth to you. I hope it will not be too late for you.

CONGRATULATIONS Fr. John. Those of us who witnessed you growing up, saw the intention for a long time. We saw all the work you did in that same church in which you were baptized, confirmed, ordained deacon and now Catholic priest. So, maybe the ‘Candle was already Burning’ in your heart for a very long time. You have been a very decent young man and good example to the young people in your village. I pray that you continue to be a shinning example to young people throughout Dominica and beyond.
May the good Lord continue to bless you.

Many are called, but few are chosen. I don’t care what congregation you are part off, God Almighty will take any man/woman form any church, to spread his word. I am happy he has chooseN, what we call” man of the world” to help lead a starving world who need the word of God.

I am not a Catholic, but who say Catholic’s will not go to heaven? Most so call Christians in other churches have not been showing no Spiritual Fruit. Some of them are worse that the worldly people. Let the man do what God has sent him to do. It is up to him to live up to his word, and let God judge him. By their fruits you shall know them. We need more like him, he is a perfect example to help our youths and other none believers.

Let every man/women do their best to serve God, and be good human beings. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I’m also from the west coast, living in the USA.

One of my obligations is to defend my Faith and its devotions which have served me well.
Catholics were there before them. They came after Catholics. They always show their ignorance of God and what God wants and expects of them. As much as they say they go by the Bible, they do not obey what Our Lord taught and highly offend Him. They will find out someday. Later for them.

Father Brancker John, congratulations to you on your Ordination to the Priesthood. I do know that the Blessed Trinity and The Mother of God, our Dear Lady will always be with you. Priests are also very much dear to Her Immaculate Heart and she is always praying for them. Now that you have joined the ranks of Her Beloved Sons, you are one of them. You can rest assured she will be praying for you.
I visualize what was occurring in Heaven during your Ordination. The Blessed Trinity and the Heavenly Hosts were present with you in spirit during prayer and praise and while the Litany of the Saints was being sung. The saints were listening to it sung to them as they prayed to God for you.
At the Seminary you received priestly instructions. In Dominica Bishop Malzaire has also instructed you in all that you must know. My wish for you is that God gives you health and strength to administer to your congregation/ parishioners. My prayers will always be with you as with the other priests. God bless you!

There is everything in Holy Scripture which is attributed to humanity that we could learn lessons from and practice. As it is stated, “Everything we need to know and live by is contained in Holy Scriptures. The Word of the Lord.
There are some people who do not comprehend the priesthood. I will not elaborate on what I know. However, I wrote a few passages of Holy Scripture that, hopefully, those who do not comprehend it may at least try to comprehend it. Most of all, God enlightens if only they will pray to him and ask him for this virtue of also understanding.
On the ordination of Father Brancker John the thought of the following crossed my mind, as contained in my Catholic New American Holy Bible. It is no watered-down version but the truth of Our Lord’s teaching and that of the apostles.

Hebrews 7:17 – You are a priest forever in the order of Melcizedek

Hebrews 7:20 – The Lord has sworn, and he will not repent: “You are a priest forever.”

Matthew 19:11: 12 – Not all can accept (this) word, but only those to whom that is granted. Some are incapable of marriage because they were made so, some, because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever can accept this ought to accept it.

Matthew 19:26 – For human beings this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.

Matthew 19:27: 29 – Peter said to him: We have given up everything and followed you. What will there be for us? Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you that you who have followed me, in the new age, when the Son of Man is seated on his throne of glory, will yourselves sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more, and will inherit eternal life. “

      To Justice and Truth

When you make the statement quote “There are some people who do not comprehend the priesthood” This is somewhat a half truth. The truth is the majority of people including you do not comprehend the Priesthood. The institution called the Catholic Church with it’s Priesthood is not understood by the general public and was meant to be that way.You comprehension as to what you believe portray such silliness and ignorance. It is so sad.

You are the classic example of someone who is a religious believer and follower, only looking at
things on the outer surface. This institution called the Catholic Church has survived so long simply because of concealment and hierarchy We say we live in a world of information but sadly enough people still remain to be ignorant, and sometimes this can be done by choice.

You are right when you say… “We say we live in a world of information but sadly enough people still remain to be ignorant, and sometimes this can be done by choice.” You chose to remain prejudiced against the Church and Its faithfull, not even showing the least bit of respect. My friend, if you chose to believe Christ Jesus and His Promises and Prayer Requests, you will eventually find that “Catholic Church”. She will be there until the His return.

When I wrote my comment I was expecting a reply such as yours.Let me say to you I’m in no way trying to be disrespectful or trying to offend anyone. I do respect the beliefs of others.Don’t I have a right to express my beliefs regardless if it is not in agreement with what you believe. Why would you perceive that as prejudice to your religion. Why should the Catholic Church as an Institution be immune from criticism or infallible, especially what history has showed us.

    You and your silliness and mortal and spiritual ignorance. You are not smart at all! You an atheist, a non-believer, an enemy of God making such a statement? You are a big time joker with Satan on your side. You know me and my heart? How foolish you are.
Me a Catholic? I would not be a Catholic if I did not comprehend all what the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church believes and teaches. If I did not comprehend it I would have left it as those who were falsely indoctrinated and who renounced their faith. Those who comprehend it remained in it. Those who did not comprehend it, it is the reason why they left it.
Jealous of the Catholic Church and its members as I, eh! One day you, too, the truth will be revealed to you. May it not to be too late for you.

As Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “The insults of those who insult you fall on Me.” Imagine insulting His Blessed Mother, whom Our Almighty Father chose among all women to bear His Blessed Son. Saying she is in Hell is comparing themselves to her and also placing themselves above her when they make this derogatory statement about her. They are very much out of place. One would think that they were immaculately conceived and they never sinned. This is a sin of pride. It depicts that they lack humility.
When they stand before God for their judgment they will find out how their words hurt Our Lord. He said, “Those who sin against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven in this age or the next.
This is what their indoctrinators taught them. In their ignorance they do not realize that this type of statement against our Blessed Mother hurts the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Those type of words come out straight from the jaws of Hell, Satan.
Satan is envious of the Mother of God. He knows her importance as given to her by God. He is also envious of the Catholic Church and its members. Why else are we so persecuted? He influences them to make such statements. He knows very well all about the Mother of God and the Catholic Church.
They do not love Our Lord and they love no one on earth. They have no love in their heart. They violated every Commandment of God. Our Lord said to love one another. They also have no respect for Our Lord, His Blessed Mother and ourselves including our faith and devotions.
Our Lord said: “What comes from the mouth comes from the heart and it defiles that person.” Therefore know where they are coming from and who they are.

In bygone years Dominicans had respect for the Clergy in general. Today, there is not as much of it. Reason is too many people came out of the woodwork and formed their own religion, saying they are going to convert and save people. In view of what is occurring in Dominica, they have failed in a worst manner. They might as well pack up and leave Dominica. They have also produced some extremely disrespectful people who think they are serving God. They do not even love him, as you. If you did, you would not have made that comment.

The TV and computer may have to be turned off. Children of today are too distracted with all sorts of technologies and other matters. For children, they are too independent. They must also learn to obey their parents and those in authority.
In addition, parents are responsible for nurturing their children, teaching them about God and encouraging them to go to church.
Ask yourself, whose fault it is why they have ceased going to church? In case you never gave it a thought, God knows.
The thought is crossing my mind. Dominica is a Christian country. Praying The Our Father must be restored in those schools. May Dominica not be reduced to a non-Christian country.

I have always told you that you sound like someone who was reincarnated from the dark ages in the time of the inquisition. Some of the things you write is so absurd. When you say that Children are to independent that frightens me.Why do you want to mold and poison a young mind with religious beliefs.Suggesting that young people should obey those in authority makes me quench.I
I will tell you what young people should to do, they should always question authority, that includes their parents, teachers, politicians, and most importantly religious Leaders.

It is also disturbs to me when you describe Dominica as a Christian country. This is a very dangerous concept and describes someone like you as a religious fanatic, no wonder the world is plagued with wars,it is thinking like this that contribute to these wars, you think that the divine intelligence judges a country or people by what religion they belong to or what prayer they recite in school. There is an old saying quote “As long as people believe in absurdities they will continue to commit atrocities”

In addition, all over the world, no exception in the U.S. and in Canada, at Easter Time – The Easter Vigil Holy Mass, new Catholics are baptized. Some are teenagers and others are adults. God will not neglect his Church. Our Lord said, “I will not leave you orphaned…”
We would be surprised to know what is occurring on high with the hands of God, his blessings and graces, showering them down on those whom He chooses to become priests and to become Catholics. God is so good! Praise be to Him.

Well I am GOING to call him Father. Some of us like to take things tooo serious literally speaking.
Ok the bible says call no one father. How do you refer to your own dad. Isn’t he your father too?(SMH) Just like some ignorant people who says Mary is in hell. If the own mother of Jesus is in hell, who are we to stand a chance of getting to Heaven?(just saying).
Father Branker John congratulations and god Blessings.

note:—the same scripture passage which says `call no man father, also says `call no man teacher’.Fr. John is an ordained Catholic Priest and that happens to be their title—-sorry protestants—

Father Brancker John. Our Priests are called “Father” because God ordained it. They father the flock, the parishioners, the congregation. It is too bad that our enemies cannot grasp it. They will, one day when they close their eyes. In fact, as they are closing their eyes for the last time on earth. It will be a wide awakening for them, some to their dilemma and eternal detriment.

As God knows, sees and hears all things, He took note of them. The day will come when they will pay a dear prize for their words as imbedded in their hearts. I visualize that their end will not be an easy one, even as they live. They have condemned themselves. When the truth is revealed to them, they will regret it forever and wished that they never made such a remark. For, Our Lord said: “By your words you will be acquitted and by your words you will be condemned.” Therefore, it depends what we say and do. What they sow, so shall they reap.
In future, if anyone makes such a statement to you, say to them, “May God rebuke you.”
We have two mothers. A Spiritual one, the Queen of Heaven and Earth, Our Lady, the Ever Blessed Virgin Mary, and our earthly mother. The latter, whether living or not.
We have two fathers, Our Almighty Father who is Our Spiritual Father and our earthly father. the latter, whether living or not.
Heaven would not be complete without a Spiritual Mother. God ordained it to be. No one can change it with mere words. Can anyone argue about that?
When they die and also on Judgment Day they will see the truth of this. Someone wrote a book which is entitled, “The Catholic Church Has The Answer.”

God Began With Mary. Why Don’t You?
God gave The Mother of God all the necessary graces to bestow on us.
You cannot conceive it because it is not revealed to you. You are too stubborn. The sin of pride is in you. You need to be humble. It is revealed only to the humble.
Holy Scripture tells us that God detests pride. He knows your heart. Therefore, “Humble yourself before God and He will exalt you in due time” and will reveal those heavenly matters to you, graces which you deprive yourself of because of your lack of humility and your pride. Satan is helping you along.

I am glad DNO left out the “dignitaries.” Who the hell care?

The day belonged to Fr. Branker John and rightly so DNO concentrated on him alone.

These so-called “dignitaries” only show up and events to show like they really care and they don’t.

Thank you DNO for keeping them out of the story. Would have been a bit disappointed if they were included.

      Congrats, Fr. John.

        Sadd and Dorival:

What is your problem? Why bring this up? This is what I mean when I say that some people allow their minds to work overtime and “make a mountain out of a molehill and a storm in a teapot” all of which are unnecessary. They scrutinize everything.
Dignitaries are people too and deserve due respect. It is customary that dignitaries attend these ceremonies. In fact, some are invited. Do you not know that? It is also customary that the Media would mention their attendance or publish their pictures. Probably DNO did not have the space and time to do so. No problem! Did you consider that? Your comment is much ado about nothing. Leave well alone and do not make an issue about it. No one else did. I did not even observe it and did not give it a thought.

From an Entertainer to the World into a Priest for God. It takes someone who loves Jesus so to surrender all to Him as Branker John has done.

Branker I am not going to call you Father, but I will call you Reverend John, to wish you all the best in your surrendered service to God.

Just remember that your job is to speak the Words of Salvation to those who have not yet heard it. I hope that you are aware of Jesus’ own words at John 6:63 where He sais:

“It is the Spirit who gives Life; the flesh profits nothing! The words which I speak are Spirit and they are Life”.

Jesus wants to speak the “Word of Life” through you and by the guidance of Holy Spirit in you, through conscience. Otherwise your ordination, as a Priest would be fruitless–and so I pray that your mind shape is prepared to bear the fruits of Life, for the glory of God Almighty, Eternal Spirit, Love, who is our Life and the number of our days in the world. Blessings

        Well stated!
They never will get it and do not know when to draw the line. They are always at it, never fail, never stop and to leave us Catholics alone. We are not bothering them. We do not harass them and persecute them. We not give them advice, not unless they bother us or approach us. They create discord, lack of love, peace, division and disunity. They cannot leave at peace. They do not realize that they are sinning in a worst way, primarily against God. One day they will stop, when God closes their eyes and mouths for the last time. Only then will they see and know the truth. Hopefully it will not be too late for them.
The last thing we Catholics need is to get advice from those who are non-Catholics and those who renounced their Catholic faith. We do not need! They do not know it all. It is a waste of our time to pay attention to them for nothing good comes out of such ungodly advice and discourses. They are wasting their time and do not know when to take a back step. They might as well hold their peace and should direct their advice elsewhere, sometimes right in their own households.
Father Brancker John studied for the Priesthood. He knows all what he wants to know. Any additional learning process will come from well-learned Catholic Hierarchy and his confreres, the latter, if he needs their advice. He does not need to get it off the street.
        God bless you, Realism.

@Justice and Truth June 30, 2013 The last thing we Catholics need is to get advice from those who are non-Catholics and those who renounced their Catholic faith.

If I had the authority of DNO I would simply remove you from the bloggers lists because you have no business here. In the first place, it is obvious that you are an annoyance to most of us here.

To think that you are speaking God and Jesus Christ in everything that you write, and yet all you do is spew anger and hatred against people who do not want to label their “Relationship with God” with a man-made religious name.

Christianity is not a Religion, it is founded on a Relationship with God by faith in His only begotten Son, who is Jesus Christ. And Jesus summed up the Ten Commandments to speak it into two commands: He said to “love God with all our heart mind and soul, and to love people as we love ourselves”.

You are one of those people who are in love with the name of your Church, you are not in love with God, through Jesus Christ, however love is what the whole message of the Bible is about, because it is the “Supernatural Essence” the very core of God Almighty, who is Life in us when we are connected to Him through conscience by the Power of Holy Spirit.

The Word of God said that the disciples of Jesus were called Christians (NOT ROMAN CATHOLICS) at Antioch–Act 11: 19-26

Read the names of the Churches in the Book of Revelation–they represent the Seven Spirit, for God’s judgment, tell me if there Roman Catholic is mentioned there.

So I am a non-denominational Christian, my Relationship is with God through faith–I worship and fellowship with the family God wants me to be in for the present time.

I know what I am at in Life with Jesus Christ, do you know what you are doing, or what is your purpose as part of the Roman Catholic Church? For you are most certainly not winning souls for Jesus–instead you are driving away from Him.

To think that you can speak all of those things against my comment to the new priest–please notice that 14 people at this time has agreed with me; and I do not care about the foolishness of the so-called “Realism”, but it is evidence that you do not know God Almighty, you do not know the Son, Jesus Christ, and neither do you know one thing about “Holy Spirit”–because He is not the “One” who directed your mind to write the things you wrote above. As a matter of fact, you are never guided by Holy Spirit throughout you messages. Just think about it!

    • July 2, 2013

      @Justice and Truth July 2, 2013

You are simply making a “great fool” of yourself–the records are showing that you will soon be wearing the “Crown of Fools” why don’t save your integrity–before that crown is installed at the center of your head?

The first thing you need to do is to stop using words that you are not familiar with their definition. For example where did you find “persecution” in the message that I wrote to Mr. Branker John?

As I said already, you are in love with the name of you religious group–and Christianity has nothing to do with religion and the it man-made rules and regulation. For Christianity is founded on a personal relationship with God, through faith in the Son, Jesus Christ

You do not know anything about God Almighty–in Father, Son, and Holy Spirit–but knowledge of God and Jesus Christ is evidence that one has “Eternal Life”.

And so, as Jesus said to one of the seven Churches in the Book of Revelation, so it is with you and the mass number of those like you:

You think that you have richness in God, but you are as poor as the devil himself. You think you are alive but you are as dead as the dust that you were formed from–that is what you should be concerned about; not all of that “stupidity” which you have written above.

When are you going to leave the Catholic Church alone? Will God have to come down and put a spoke in your wheel to make you and its other enemies understand that and stop harassing and persecuting us? You are doing the work of Satan and helping him along. When you do, you are persecuting Our Lord Jesus Christ for He established His Church on earth and approves of Its devotions. If you had common sense, you would refrain from your persecution. Do you not think you and other enemies will be punished for this?
