Caribbean Community (Caricom) leaders say they have had a “very successful” two-day inter-sessional summit here, completing a 20-odd agenda and implementing policies and strategies that would ensure the future socio-economic and political development of the region.
St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, who is also the Caricom chairman, told reporters late Tuesday night that the summit had dealt with a number of matters regarding the further development of the 15-member regional integration grouping, ranging from information communications and technology (ICT) to a future trade agreement with Canada.
“We had a very successful conference, we had 20-odd items on the agenda and we completed the agenda,” he told reporters adding that high on the agenda was the ICT sector which regional leaders agreed “should take place in tandem with the reform process of the region for the years 2014 – 19”.
De cowboy hiding.
I am pleased to know it was a very successful Summit. At least some of what was discussed will be taken into consideration and implemented.
One of it is the treatment of Santo Domingo toward the Haitians. Some of us may have relatives there, young or old whom we do not know.
These governments would do well to ignore Santo Domingo government unless it could rescind its treatment of the Haitians, no doubt, the majority of whom along with their previous ancestors contributed to the revenue of the country.
The government of Santo Domingo should be punished and this is by not having an alliance with it until such time that the government gives confirmation in writing that it has rescinded its policy on this matter.
Politicians love MONEY AND GLORY, BUT ME EH HELPING THEM GET THAT!
Your comment does not appear to be of one who is patriotic and encouraging to others. It appears you are a non-caring one who is redundant to your country. If you are, this is why you should never criticize the government or any government for that matter.
You are obligated to do something beneficial for your country. As a national, what do you plan to do for your country? In what way will you help to assist it to grow and to enhance it? Otherwise consider yourself a useless citizen.
This is worth thinking of: Whatever you put in is whatever you get out of it – nothing. In other words, you give nothing, you get nothing.
SIMPLY THE TRUTH all you do is playing Angel on DNO.. GO BEAT YOUR WINGS SOME WHERE ELSE in other words SHUT UP !
Mr PM enjoy all the summits you can ,there will no more Skerrit representing us come next election.
dream on
I visualize someone who thinks he/she can foresee and foretell the future. Are you not presumptuous? Playing God? You do not even know if you will be well and also alive come next election.
Be a loving, good Christian. Comment kindly and wisely for what goes around comes around. When will some people as you learn this? What you sow you shall surely reap in time.
repost: Two days of free food, five star hotel, free plane ride, socializing, champagne, and having a good time. And who pay the bills the hard working tax payers of the region.
Now you must tie the blues and never let them go to such an event. Sacway sot jalou!!
Silly comment. What is your point? Do you not have something better and constructive to state?
All governments of the world attend conferences and summits, etc. and travel to various countries. Funds are set aside for this purpose. These are a few obligations of their elected office. Overall they are for the benefit of their country and that of nationals.
I would be a foolish person if I criticize the Canadian Federal, Provincial and Municipal government leaders for attending them and commenting on the cost to taxpayers. Sensible taxpayers are fully aware of or have a fair knowledge of the cost and will not make an issue of it. They know the importance of those government gatherings. You are foolish and narrow-minded to criticize your government about it.
Pm Roosevelt not in the photo shot because he was the one taking the photo
now you know
He is in the pic. 3rd from the left.
I saw him. All this silly person had to do was to scrutinize the picture and he/she would have seen him. I do believe this person was being sarcastic as usual.
You must be blind bro !
I look forward to the full report of this summit. I have already read through European news media that one of the items discussed was the request to have some European countries compensate former colonies for damages done during slavery. It will be interested to hear how that matter will be pursued. What type of arrangement will be made? Who will receive this money if it is ever paid? If Dominica receives any funds from this request, will monies be spent on eradicating the pit latrines?
Keep looking forward for this compensation. Who will receive the money and what will they do with it if they are fortunate to receive it? There may be bickering about it and how much each island would receive. What about those who are in Africa?
My feeling is, “Let sleeping dogs lie.” What is done is done and cannot be undone and by money. Our ancestors are long gone. Their souls are in eternity. We hope in Heaven for their struggles, hurt, pain, suffering, denial of their human rights and humiliation.
In their spiritual world they probably are informing us, “Forget it! Live and let live! Do not hate and do not request or expect compensation. We are now happy. God has already given those enemies of the negro race who were responsible for our predicament, his just recompense.”
We must give this a good thought. I bet few of them who maltreated our ancestors in a worst humane manner obtained eternal salvation, if none at all. This should be our consolation. We pray that one day we will be united with those ancestors in Heaven. They must be looking forward to this. We should also. This would be one loving, happy reunion forever. O Happy Day!
This was such a long time ago. If there is any compensation to get, each one of us who obviously had relatives who were slaves (some did not make it to the destination and died along the way) should receive some funds. Consider the amount of money which should be dished out to each one of us. They could not possibly pay that amount.
If any money is to be received, I reiterate that each one of us worldwide should receive some of it. Can you imagine that? This is why I state,in this case those governments should live well alone. These are my views on the matter. May God be with me and agree with me on this one.
Where is Roosevelt?
So u not seeing him standing to the far left in his grey suit then
