Christian Union Church hosts youth symposium

The Christian Union Church of the West Indies is hosting a Youth Symposium on Sunday October 23, 2011 at the Cabrits in Portsmouth.

Young people between the ages of 12-35 will converge on the Cabrits to discuss the Cardinal doctrines of the Christian Faith and the main doctrine the church Entire Sanctification. The Facilitators will be the ministers of the organization.

The objectives of the exercise are:
– To teach the youths of the organization the doctrines of the church
– To provide an opportunity for the youths to interact with the Pastors on the doctrines of the church
– To provide a framework wherewith young people can apply the knowledge to the everyday challenges

In this very challenging environment, the church recognizes the need to equip its young people not only with social and academic knowledge and skills but with spiritual knowledge and assist them to understand the main teaching of their church.

We believe that the knowledge gained will assist them to deepen their faith in God, develop a greater appreciation for the church they belong to and be better able to apply the faith to their everyday challenges.

The District Board is encouraging of young persons of the Christian Union Church to be a part of this event. The activity commences at 09:00am; lunch and snacks will be provided along with Christian literature.

“In this very challenging environment, the church recognize the need to equip its young people, NOT ONLY WITH SOCIAL AND ACCADEMIC KNOWLEDG AND SKILLS, but with spiritual knowledge”

I do not why, I perceive something wrong with this statement. Why is it that “social and accademic knowledge and skills” appears to take priority over “SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE” in a Church program.

Is “Spiritual knowledge” not the priority of every Church, since the church must represent the Body of Christ? Any yet in the statement above it becomes the “BUT” in the plan of the Church program. How strange!

But that is the typical attitude of the Church, the reason why most of its people, who claim to maintain a relationship with God do not put Him first on their list and to keep Him on that list all day long. What else can others do?

And so God is always on the back of the list and most of the time the owner of that list never gets there. So what happens? People are playing religiousity and churchianity, bawling out God, God, God, but nobody knows who God is.

However God is Love in Spirit and Truth, who would like that His people become reconciled to Him.

The Church is supposed to be a body of people, focussed on learning to function with Life in the Spirit. They gather in the Church house as One Body and Jesus is the Head, in control by the power of His Holy Spirit.

The Church should adopt the priority of establishing spiritual knowledge–to know the ways of Life, the attitude and conducts of Jesus Christ, who maintained the mind of Love–first and formost.

Every church member–no matter what the name of that group–should be prepared to become equp with “Spiritual Knowledge” before anything esle. That idea should not be a “but” in the work plan of a Church.
