Christmas is days away and The Loubiere Catholic Youth Group decided to treat parishioners with an early Christmas Musical gift entitled “The Tale of The Nativity”.

This past weekend (December 12th and 13th), the new and exciting original musical written and composed by Youth Choir Leaders Marie Pascale,Clementine Affana and Trevor Christian was staged for the very first time at the Holy Spirit Chapel, Loubiere.

The Tale of the Nativity brought on stage a cast of 21 talented singers, aged from 10 to 19 years old, with live accompaniment by an orchestra of eight musicians, all residing in the communities of Loubiere, Wall house and environs.

The one hour and 15 minutes musical play featured a wide variety of choral musical styles, ranging from Caribbean folk to contemporary jazz and Cameroonian inspired Praise songs, all written and composed by Musical Director, Trevor Christian and leaders Marie Pascale & Clementine Affana.

The cast treated its viewers with sweet melodies, captivating choreography and tasteful acting. Love, Life and Laughter were at the party, as they left all patrons pleasantly impressed by the talent and potential displayed by the youth of this community.

The aim of staging this musical production was not only to display young talent, but most importantly to re-focus the attention of the Christmas Season to its true meaning, the Nativity or the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ which is the expression of the Greatest Love of All.

With vibrant melodies and an inspiring storyline, the cast highlighted the importance of this season and the treasure found in this most precious gift from God to Mankind.

Since its creation in June 2014, the Loubiere Catholic Youth Choir has performed on various occasions including the opening of the 2014 Loubiere Reunion, the Loubiere reunion Gospel Festival (2014), and the annual St. Cecilia Choir Festival in November 2014. One of the main focuses of the group is spreading Love and Happiness through Music, Song, Praise and Worship. These goals are supported by the substantial contributions and encouragements from the Catholic Community of the Loubiere Holy Spirit Chapel, and of the diocese of Roseau.

Patrons who were in attendance, including His Lordship the Bishop of Roseau, Gabriel Malzaire, and Dr. Alwin Bully expressed their words of encouragement to the group, inviting them to keep up their work in hope that this could become a yearly project in the community or at a wider scale.

God is great! To the person putting the thumbs down, good is stronger than evil. You cannot bring this down so don’t even try. Evil has never won. I pity you who don’t know Jesus. Good work choir. Keep it up!

This great performance with its great message of the GIFT of Salvation must be taken to another level. Every effort is being made to celebrate that “Every LIFE is a GIFT”, the theme for the 42nd. Anniversary of “DIGNITY OF HUMAN LIFE DAY”, observed annually on January 22.
I believe this original musical, the Tale of the Nativity conveys this message and all who missed the first showing will get an opportunity to see this great performances of the Loubiere Catholic Youth Group, on Saturday 17, January, 2015. At the Arawak Cultural Centre, in Roseau.
Thanks a million Marie Pascale Affana, Choral Director. Your Cast did a fantastic job!
