Our Lady of Fatima Parish observes Palm Sunday

On Sunday, Our Lady of Fatima Parish joined Catholics in Dominica and around the world in celebrating Palm Sunday, also known as Passion Sunday.

Palm Sunday commemorates the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, the week before his death and resurrection.

It marks the beginning of Holy Week which concludes on Easter Sunday, one of the holiest days on the Christian calender.

The Bible states that as Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds greeted him by waving palm branches and covering his path with palm branches.

Immediately following this great time of celebration in the ministry of Jesus, he begins his journey to the cross.

Our Lady of Fatima Parish comprises New Town, Giraudel, Eggleston, Loubriere and all areas in between.

Led by Parish Priest, Monsignor William Jno Lewis, the parish began a palm-waving procession from Castle Comfort junction to the parish church in New Town.

Beautiful pictures from Our Lady of Fatima Parish!

The purpose of Palm Sunday is to remind us – to point us back in time – to the beginning of that special week of His passion leading up to the moment at Calvary when our debt of sins was paid.

Let The Truth Be Told – Original: Let me take this occasion to say I appreciate your comments. I share your feelings about the Week of the Passion. The same people who rejoiced as they followed Him crying out HOSANNA TO THE SON OF DAVID and spreading palm branches days later would be shouting CRUCIFY HIM, CRUCIFY HIM!

It shows the fickleness of fallen human nature. It is the story of people who knew about Him because they were familiar with their Old Testament scriptures but they did not know Him. They had head knowledge but it had not reached their hearts. It was religion like so many display at this time of the year with ceremony, emotion and noise, but without understanding and faith.

      Continuation:

This tells us outward religion with its calendar holy days and ceremonies is not enough.

We must REPENT which means to turn away from our sins (Acts 17:30) and BELIEVE that what the Lord Jesus did upon the cross paid the price in full for our salvation. (Romans 5:6-8) It is by BELIEVING we are saved which means to receive eternal life. (John 3:16)

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.

Those who believe in God – The Blessed Trinity, have faith, hope and trust in Him, who attend church, more especially on a regular basis and, who read/study Holy Scripture should know that repentance with a humble and contrite heart is part of obtaining eternal salvation.
Repentance, prayer, penance and restitution must be made to appease God.
We have the promise of Our Lord Jesus Christ. He is faithful and true to His promise.
Recall that He said, “Only those who perform the Will of His (Our) Heavenly Father will enter His Kingdom.” Therefore, there are conditions which must be met in order to be saved.
Recall also Our Lord said: “Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect.”
Have you considered how many Christians especially die perfectly, without one stain of sin on their soul?
Only by the grace of God we will (are) saved; not by our exertion.
I hope someday, with the help of God, in the not too far distant future, to write a book on these matters and more.

I do think you are the pagan. Those who are not Christians are Pagans.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said: “By your words you will be acquitted and by your words you will be condemned.”

This is beautiful in the red colors. Sad to think that on Good Friday we will be observing Our Lord’s Passion, Crucifixion and Death. Imagine, one day they exalted Our Lord and the following week, some of them shouted, “Crucify Him!” “Release Barabbas” the criminal! Deceitful and traitors, are they not? Those who repented obtained eternal salvation. Those who did not, we know where their souls are.
    Lord! Have mercy on us!
I came across some Catholic information on a relevant Website. It is stated that every day we should meditate on Our Lord’s Passion, Crucifixion and Death. Why? Because He died for us that we might live with Him in Heaven.
I recall a short hymn which was sung while making the Stations of the Cross in D/ca, in Church on Wednesday and Friday evenings in Lent, in those days.

Come let us fall before His Cross
Who died that we might live
O Jesus hear our contrite prayer
    And all our sins forgive
And all our sins, and all our sins, f-o-r-give.
