Too many people keep lying about God

There are too many people who keep lying about God. They are always saying God told me that or God did this in my life but God only talk to his anointed through the Holy Spirit.

There are some who keep saying God put governments in power but if God was putting  Government in power, why would he put evil men like Hitler,Starlin,Saddam, etc, in power? What about Africa, North Korea, Zimbabwe and so on  where People are starving and suffering  for food? Most leaders of these countries read the Bible or  Koran but reading the Bible doesn’t make you a child of God. You have to repent of your sins.

The last time man heard the voice of God was on the Mount of Transfiguration. Mark-9 vs-7: And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son: hear him.”

There  are three persons in God, the Father(The Almighty), the Son,(CHRIST), and the Holy Spirit. All three has the same power. When you repent of your sins, the Holy Spirit comes and live in you and you become a saint. So why not repent of your sins and let him become your Master, Lord and Savior?

There are some who say they are Christians, but are against what ever is written by a child of God. You all are hypocrites! Go back to the altar and repent. You all are talking from both side of your mouth, which means you all are trying to please both God and Man. You can’t ride the fence, you’re going to fall off, it is God or the  world. Make a choice.

Mark,8 vs 38: Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous generation; of him also shall the son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his father with the holy angels.

And don’t talk about David, Solomon, and so on. They lived before Christ died for  us. Since that time who has God told you he put in power? If you name one person, there you go lying about God again.

May the blessing of the Lord keep falling on Dominica always.

Humanist may i first inform you that the absence of evidence doesn’t mean the evidence of absence. I’m comforted to read that the natural man does not understand the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. the things of God are understood by the people of God and not from agnostics who pose guides to the blind.

It is the spirit of humanists to explain away everything sacred. The Bible needs no defense; it will defend itself. I’ve never heard of a Christian who became an atheist but I’ve read of many atheists who finally became Christians because the Light of God shone upon them.

You may use all rational arguments and points of relativity to denounce the God of creation – which is not an impersonal god – and turn the heart of men against God but you must also remember that the God of creation still loves you.

Evolution itself is not a science because it is not observable; therefore it can go into the trash can. you cannot use science to prove the existence of God because science is not a first cause. Men ought to use science as an investigative tool to prove to himself that the things contained in the Bible are literally so and not the other way around.

Maybe you should investigate more into the teleological, cosmological and moral arguments concerning the existence of God. And if you seek Him you will find Him if only you seek Him with your whole heart.

Or maybe you must have discussed the point of distinction in what is called the Pascal’s wager; a good rational would be to make the right choice because with Christ you have nothing to lose. To choose otherwise, my friend, you have all to lose. Your articles are well written but lack spiritual substance. You make it appear that we were all just free moral agents without a definition to life and purpose. With our intellect we receive the knowledge of all that life is but it does not affect our heart and awakens a conscious desire for worship, we are no better than the animals on the field.

Man has a purpose for being here and that is to serve God; yes, the God of creation. The creation was orderly designed and that by a Master Creator. The Bible will concur with science when it (science) is right; but does not rely on science for it’s authenticity. There have been many occasions where science has gone wrong – and you know that too well- but the Bible has never been wrong. Which should you put your trust in, my friend?

I have never read so much contradictions.First of all the creator of the havens and earth said that you are lying even christ say that you are lying and it seems that you need to read the book again. here are my reasons for saying so. In the book of Daniel 4:17 proves that the most high rules in the kingdom of men and give it to whomsoever he will, and setteth over it the basest of men.So he does have a say in governments.Christ said that no man has ever heared the most high voice. Is he lying? You said that there is three persons in god but the most high say that you lie. Isaiah43:10-11,25 Isaiah 44:6,8 He asked; Is there a god beside me? yea, there is no god; I know not any.Isaiah 45:22 look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am god, and there is none else. and I can go on and on. You also say that they have the same power and yet again Christ has condemed you. If he is god why does he have a father and a god as he told the lady in John20:17, if he has the same power, why does’nt he know when it is the season for figs which any farmer would know. He said; do not worship him but worship only the father. So you see what I am proving to you. I can give you much more proof scripturaly.

Pastor, based on your article i take it you are a saint. You keep saying “you all” which means your are not part of it. I take it to mean you are annoited and have heard the voice of God or have the potential to hear the voice of God. The bible also said prostitutes and thieves will enter the Kingdom before those who claim to be more holy than others.

Whom do you say is the God of the Apostles? Turn to John 20:28. “My Lord, My God” after seeing Christ resurrected. Thomas was a devout Jew who would never shouted blasphemy and he clearly calls Jesus God.

Turn to Revelations 1:8. How many Alphas and Omegas can you have? One, right? Turn to Revelations 22:12-13 which says “Look, I am the Alpha & the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” The “Alpha and the Omega is coming quickly (verse 12-Jesus is speaking)” Then look at verse 16 where he is STILL speaking “I Jesus…” If in doubt, go to verse 20 “He who testifies to these things says, Surely I am coming soon. Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!”

Remember that God is Love people. Be patient & kind. The Trinity is made up of 3 separate, persons who are one, true GOD.

Jesus is the Son but, he is ALSO called GOD. Titus 2:13 “Looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great, God and Savior, Christ Jesus.

The Holy Spirit is also a separate person, and HE is also called God. First, let us understand the Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force. He is a person with characteristics of a person. He can be grieved (Eph. 4:30), He speaks (Acts 13:2) and HE can be lied to (Acts 5:3-4). In Acts 5:3-4 the Holy Spirit is called God “But Peter said, Ananias why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit?…You have not lied to men but, to God.” So, we clearly see here that there are 3 persons in the Bible and they are all called God. Our verses in (Deut 6:4 & Isaiah 44:6) remind us of this.

One final note. Many try and use Col. 1:15 to disprove this by stating that since Jesus is “…the first born of all creation.” That Jesus cannot be God. The key to understanding this is understanding the term “First-born.” The Greek word for first created is “PROTOKTIOTI.” If Paul wanted to say Christ was first created being, he would have but, he didn’t. Instead, he used another term, “PROTOTOKOS.” Paul is referring to the Jewish use of the word first-born which not only means first one born, but, also is used as a title of SOVEREIGNTY & PRE-EMINENCE. A good example of this is Psalm 89:27. Here, God says of David. “I shall make him my first-born, the highest of the kings of the earth.” Is David the first born of Jesse? No, he is the 8th and youngest son of Jesse. In the Old Testament, the use of the word again shows preeminence or sovereignty.

Pray for clarity. HE DOES SPEAK to your heart. His miracles are still present today as ever.

When pluralism grows in society so we see a society falling apart. Just as the law protects and keeps a society, we also need a moral law. We should all examine ourselves because we all guilty of justifying our way of life. How are we going to know what is right and wrong in society if what is right to me is my own moral law. How do i know i am hurting a brother if what is right only feels right? We need something out there to condemn all of us, or else we will not be loving individuals, we will always be guided by selfishness, greed…and what seems right and what feels right. Let us not continue fighting and just look into ourselves go on our knees and say i need to get my act together..

  9. Ummmm
    July 17, 2011

God loves everyone, I don’t know why we fight among ourselves… What we believe advocates peace, love, humility, forgiveness, hope but all I hear of these days are hatred and war. If we believe in love your neighbour as yourself, we would not do or say a quarter of things we normally do, If we love God and obey his commandments I wonder how different the world would be, because what the bible teaches is that we love one another and love covers a multitude of sin. This does not mean that we hide the wrongs that each other do. It simply means that we love people and try to restore when anybody has gone wrong.
Jesus did not come into the world to condemn the world, neither did he come to save those who were already saved, he came to seek and save that which was lost. That which was lost represents each and everyone of us. No greater love is there than this, that a man should lay down his life for a friend. I choose to believe in God and His son and it has certainly made my life and my heart better. I would that all men would find the peace, love and hope that I have found in this wonderful saviour.
Whoever reads this, I pray that you hear the Lord knocking at your heart’s door and you will not turn him away, but rather embrace him, repent and accept the eternal love that he offers.

Firstly, pastor YOU have lied against the Most High, I will prove it from your own scriptures you claim to read.

Pastor you claim that the “Father, Son and Holy Spirit” have the same power. This verse, “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. (John 5:30)” proves otherwise. It shows that Jesus by himself cannot do anything, he is not on his own will but the One who sent him.

Is that the same Holy Spirit that lived in BJ for almost a decade Pastor?

Pastor how could you imply that Jesus is God? Let’s see what Jesus said, “John 20:17, “Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.” Jesus states that he is ascending onto HIS GOD yet you people preach this nonsense. There are so many evidences that clearly shows that Jesus is not god put because you people are spiritually blind you will never see. THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND.

Verse 7 “If you had known me, you should have known my Father also, and from henceforth you know him and have seen him”

Verse 9. Muslim, Jesus was saying to Philip, “he that have seen me, have seen the Father.”

      Muslim Always

I do not care one thing about what this Pastor Rawls writes; for he demonstrate no substance of Spirit and Truth in his sentiments. I have noticed it time and time again.

Perhaps Pastor Rawls–like so many other– has no idea what he is talking about when he is says “Jesus is God” So I will not object to your challenging him.

However, I believe that I have mentioned this more than once before, that the Man, Jesus, seen in the Image and Likeness of God, represents the Person of God Almight, Eternal Spirit, who is Love. His disciples saw Him in the flesh. And they accept His claims that He was sent by the Father.

God is Love, who exist in Spirit and Truth. A spirit needs a body to show its attitude and conducts–in all forms and fashion; hence that spirit will indwell or occupy the mind of a physical body–to put that body of voice, movements, and mentality under its control. That spirit can be one of two–the Spirit of God or the spirit of Satan.

When Jesus says I can of Myself do nothing, He is saying that without the Mind of Eternal Spirit–the Mind of Love; by which He function with Life–Jesus is saying that His human body would have been without Life, hence without Life “one can do nothing”

In other words, Life is the functions of Spirit and Truth, demonstrating the attitude and contucts of God’s Holy Spirit–God’s influence in all that we think, say, and do.

It is unfortunate, though, that the world, just like this Pastor Rawls, continues in an existence under the sole control of their human senses with a carnal mind; but they are talking “Life”. Good grief!

Jesus once told His disciples I am in the Father and the Father is in Me. His disciples did not understand Him; until Phillip said to Jesus: Lord, show us the Father. Jesus responded by telling His disciples: He who have seen Me have seen the Father also. Read John 14 7-11

We have got to get it into our heads that our relationship with God, Eternal Spirit, demands that we maintain the practice of Life in the Spirit, by our faith. This relationship is not, and cannot be about flesh and blood; for flesh and blood–humanity–is passing away. God is about Life, which continues Eternally

Unless we get that idea correctly into our head, God’s Holy Spirit will never enter our conscience, to begin His work in our mind, to reform our soul; that we might come to know Him and His ways of Love–His attitude and conducts of Life, as demonstrated by His Person of Love–Jesus Christ.

Jesus made this fact very clear to the man Nicodemus, who notice that Jesus was different from other men. So Nicodemus went to Jesus in a secret manner–by night, to ask Him about the reason for the way He was.

Notice that the first thing Jesus told Nicodemus was that “You must be born again”

Jesus told Nicodemus that in other that he would understand His ways, he would have to start the new birth–the birth of the Spirit existence–that he would begin to understand the Ways of our God of Spirit, the Ways of Love, which is Life in us.

The apostle Paul advised us: Walk in the Spirit, walk in Love, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh

And God said “Let there Light” This Light was the offspring of God’s Love. Jesus came to this world as the Person of God, bearing this Light, calling Himself the Son of God.

But in Him there was Life and the Life was the Light of men. Jesus Christ is the Person of God, who is Love. the Light of men–the ecstasy of joy and peace.

Jesus disciples saw Him in flesh and bones. They said: We beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten Son of the Father, full of Grace and Truth.

Many people teach that Jesus is God, but they do not understand what they are teaching, hence they cannot explain the idea. It is only by the wisdom of faith that we will receive this truth. That too is another problem. God have mercy on us!

      • July 18, 2011

        @Nuts

I see that you have the same sentiment against my comment as the last time. I will give you one hint for the reason you continue with that sentiment against me. Here it is: “You exist with a CARNAL MIND, a state of mind which is an extreme enemy of God, and His Person of Love, who is Jesus Christ”.

Now do I need to say anymore about the reason you have chosen to go against me? I don’t think so! But it would do you a lot of good, if you could turn around and strive to become a friend of God, eh! Pastor Rawls cannot help you out with that choice though!

The Jewish leaders of Jesus’ days accused Him of doing miracles by the power of Beelzebub–the devil. So if you decide I am a hypocrite, how do you think this will interfere with my relationship with God? It won’t, in no way at all!

I know that I have assurance of Eternal Life, in Paradise, with Jesus Christ when in His full glory of Eternal Spirit–Almighty God. Can you say that about yourself?

        @Johnie

I responded to the post of Muslim Always–pertaining to what he thought the Pastor Rawls “implied”—Jesus is God.

Notice that I mentioned in the first place that I do not care about what this pastor Rawls writes, because he writes without spiritual essence, which I am able to recognize when it is presented in a person.

But is true that the saying by so many teachers and preachers of God’s Word that Jesus is God–yes most Christians say it that way–it is not a saying that is well defined. That is what I tried to explain to Muslim Always.

Again I do not care whether Pastor Rawls said that or not. He goes all over the place in his writing, in the first place. It is impossible to receive the message he is speaking.

No thanks to your money. I already have the most precious thing that no amount of money can buy. It is my Salvation–the gift of Eternal Life, for free, by my faith in Jesus Christ.

My mind is now in its renewal process, producing the ways of God–the attitude and conducts of His Person of Love–Jesus Christ, who gave me Life.

The attitude and conducts of Jesus Christ demands that I walk in the Spirit; I walk in Love; doing my best to deny the lust of the eye, to deny the lust of the flesh and the pride of this world; for it is not of the Father.

If I should die today, I go to my grave with a renewed mind, and to wait for the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

If Jesus should find me in this world, upon His return, He will simply change the nature of my physical body, that I will never die, but no problem with my spirit–I already exist with an awakened soul–quickened by the Light of Jesus Chirist, the anointing of His Holy Spirit in my conscience.

These are the important things about God–Eternal Spirit; about the Man, who is His Person of Love–Jesus Christ; about Life and about fleshly existence–humanity, that I write, to share with those who have not yet heard and so, have not yet learned.

It is my work of faith. For just as the body with the Spirit is dead; so is faith without works. It is not enough to say I believe, or to simply read the words of another human being–or even the Bible itself. We must put faith to work in all our thoughts, words, and deed

But it is the choice of people–to accept or refuse, God knows that I have done what He called for me to do.

Jesus was playing his role as a human being when he made that statement, John 1 says that all things were made by him and without him was not anything made, it also says he is the word and the word was with God and the word is God

muslim, the Jehovah of the Old Testament id the Jesus Christ of the New testament. In the Old Testament Jehovah says to Him every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess; the same is said of Jesus Christ in the New testament.

Read 1 Tim.3:16…God was manifested in the flesh God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Isa 44:24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself; yet we read in Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Ac 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood

maybe you should meditate on these verses for the time before insulting your intelligence

An other way people lie about God,is by saying God is the father of us all.Whereas the bible tells us, only those who receive (believe) Christ to them He gives the right TO BECAME the sons of God.John 1:12.
No one is born a child of God,you must BECOME a child through faith in Him.

Every leader is place in power by God.We may not know why or understand the reason.Of course He is under no obligation to explain to us.We read in Daniel 4:17

“….In order that the living may know that the MOST HIGH rules in the kingdom of men, gives it to whomever He will. And sets over it the lowest of men”

When the nation of Israel disobeyed God, He would use the other nations more wicked than Israel to punish them.

every one of these religious denominations cannot be right. religion in it’s crude form is man’s attempt to reach God. The function of humanist philosophy is to create a disconnect between man and God; to give man the impression that we he can find his true essence within himself. it’s a fallacy that has pervaded much of society and continues to give a false security to the unsuspecting initiates. do not let yourself be deluded by high-sounding nonsense and philosophy falsely so-called. think clearly for yourself, my friend

I’m glad you believe that no one has heard the word of such a deity for thousands of years–i.e., that they are deluded and the victims of illusions. In all likelihood, no one at all has ever heard the word of any deity because there is only a minimal probability that any such thing exists. I’m sure people “think” they hear gods directing their every move, but in reality, much of this is likely mental illness, poor education, a deep psychological desire to have a father figure (or mother figure for a goddess), or simply insanity. When Saint Anthony saw all those “demons” in the desert, what do you think: he really saw mystical creatures from a mystical realm, or he was seeing things from starving himself in a desolate environment, like anyone whose brain is being deprived of nutrients?

All this god talk needs to stop being so public. If people want to believe, fine. And if others wish to follow what is established fact–science–then let them do that. There is no reason we cannot coexist. Some of my friends are Catholics, and I love hanging out with them. Others of my friends are atheists, and I love hanging out with them. Others are agnostic. We all coexist because we all know that we do not know the answer to whether or not there is a god for certain and that it is foolish to pretend you do, though we also know that there is no actual evidence for a deity in the way that the bible or any holy book describes him/her/them.

If by deity you mean something that is not personal, then I’m fine with that. But arguing about highly specific images of deities? Please.

So please stop writing these things as though you are absolutely right and everyone who disagrees is a fool. Were you to engage me or one of my educated friends in a debate, we would likely make you see that you cannot act as though you know everything and in fact know far less than you could ever imagine. The universe is too complex to act as though images of a man with a beard on a cloud granting wishes are absolutely and obviously true.

Why have I typed all this? Because I know that, were I ask a friend to contribute an article here on agnosticism or atheism, it would likely be attacked with biblical verses because such commenters have never taken the time to consider that their views may be wrong and have never learnt enough about the universe to see how complex things really are and how tiny and insignificant our Earth is in comparison to the rest of the vastness out there. And it is sad. Such people perhaps believe there are nine planets in the universe and that our solar system is literally the universe, which could not be more wrong. In reality, we are less-than-microscopic in the grand scheme of things.

So please humble yourself at humanity’s relative littleness and accept that we do not know anything for certain and that science does not point towards the god you speak of. Have faith if you wish. There is nothing wrong with that. But do not condemn others for not being like you. We are all uncertain in the end, and the most we can do is study, observe, hope, and try to love others.

So eloquently put, I wish I knew who you were so I could shake your hand. It really does baffle me when religious zealots post comments on here. I wonder if it’s one God or many gods because only the latter could explain the contradicting views each person has -it’s a better explanation rather the ‘they’re not real christians’ approach so often used. There are probably as many “gods” as there are people since each person believes in some ‘personal god’ that communicates to them and no one seems to agree on anything (must be different gods!)

But all jokes aside if we are to ever have progress in science, justice systems and relating with people, we can’t have the self-centered view that we are right about our particular religion and everyone else is wrong and deserves to burn and rot in a place of eternal fire if they don’t believe it. Doesn’t sound “all loving” to me.

???? did you create this universe in such an ausome order- sun to shine by day , moon and stars? So many other wonders around you. Is there any man who can do such wonders? So the earth just came into being? The truth must be told. We know from the word that when plagues and destruction, some will blasheme the name of the Most High. Please harden not your heart when you hear the call. Do not fall in this category. He does not want not one of us to perish. Please do not live in denial – loving the things of the world. I’ll tell you one thing – according to one evangelist – I rather die in good standing even this thing is an illusion as you have said than to die and then find that this infact was not an illusion and I have to face the music of perishing. You know then too late would be the cry since the warning was given to us whilst we were alive. Now is the time to repent and believe on the Lord who died for our sins before it is too late. The Creator loves you.

i wish we could sit and speak. are you in Dominica? i really didn’t think that there were people like you here. i am so relieved. i still believe in a creator, some kind of intelligent entity, but the rest of the theatrics that comes with religions i have left behind. science has been a big part of my life and i try to tell people that attack scientific discoveries and scientists that most scientists don’t go looking to disprove god or religions. they go in looking for answers and simply relay what they found. would it be right for them to find things contradictory to the bible or religions and hide it or falsely report what they find ?? i don’t think so. man’s greatest weakness has always been his ego and that’s the thing i find common in all religions.
i myself have been very open minded with all my friends of a wide range of religions. i have owned so many versions of “the word of god” which is another thing that amuses me because they keep editing and correcting it.
when you think of what religion teaches on a real level you will realize that it’s compromised of a lot of stories, given that some of them have great messages, some of them are insane, but they are stories no less with a few historical facts obviously. when you’re telling a story you put in some of the things happening around you at the time.

Thank you for your words. You sound like you’re on the right track yourself. There is nothing wrong with believing in a creator. My main concern, like yours, is with religion itself. Perhaps we really came from nothing; perhaps something beyond current science started off the universe or universes. Either way, the highly specific claims of religions are not likely to be accurate. But as long as we have open minds, we can coexist. The irony is that I know Christians who would put Pastor Rawls in his place by citing the scientific evidence against believing in such specific biblical claims, and yet they still choose to believe, knowing the unlikelihood of their being correct. They are lighthearted about it and joke with my unbelieving friends about their own beliefs. We can coexist because we all know how much and little we know for certain. Unfortunately, narrow-mindedness is still too ingrained in how too many Dominicans think when religion comes up. Mind you, this is largely the fault of centuries of indoctrination by the colonists’ missionaries, while the great European thinkers who began developing philosophies of free-thought and the scientists who, risking their lives by defying the church, opened up the universe, all worked in very different environments to what we have in the Caribbean. It may be a long time before people open up to the fact that religious fundamentalism just does not have evidence in its favor, and instead of fighting each other over verses, we should seek to learn more in as many fields–science, art, philosophy, everything–as we can. And we have the Internet. All of this, if you know where to go, is available online. And yet, so many people who say they have no time to learn more spend hours chatting with friends they can see in person or watching trash on TV.

Still, I’m hopeful. Keep up the open-mindedness!

Firstly, I have never said there is no god. All I have said is that we cannot simply assume there is a specific deity like one described in holy books. There is no evidence for one. This does not mean those holy books are wrong. It means the evidence is not in their favor.

As for good and evil: do all morals really come from the bible? Is the bible perfect? There are many instances of severe violence in the bible, including stonings, mentions of genocide, executions, rape, and more. Women are told they must submit to their husbands. Certainly, much of Jesus’ teachings are lovely and worth application in life–but this does not make everything or anything in the bible true. Many moral philosophers say things. I can accept Gandhi’s teachings, for instance, without accepting anything else about him. I can accept the Buddha’s teachings without accepting the more supernatural aspects of Buddhism.

Before the bible, Confucius presented the golden rule, a concept that has appeared in many civilizations before and after Jesus was said to have appeared. The golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. To me, this is one of the most excellent teachings imaginable. (Except in the hands of a psychopath, but a psychopath would not be able to follow the ten commandments, either.) The world was not anarchy and chaos before the bible; and the few tribes and cultures who still have never heard of the bible up to today are not full of crazy murderers. Read the work of Sam Harris. He has some interesting ideas about natural human morality (he defines morality as human well-being).

I stand by humanist’s point of view… reason prevails and not militant blind faith. there is no evidence of an all powerful space daddy. the Christian’s own holy book contradicts what we see today. religion is just the shroud that blocks off its followers from seeing evidence that disproves all the fairy tales, fallacies and myths in the bible… most of the things we grew up to believe were injected into us without any means of proving anything. just read the holy book. gen 1:3 and 1:16 and see how it so early begins with conflicting reports of our earth and its luminaries.

Strangely scientists and the whole big bang theory are moving in the direction of an ultimate creator… The big bang theory and creation are one and the same…That’s what I heard on the news anyway… even if the entire universe was derived from one single atom or whatever it is, that something had to have come from somewhere and something had to happen in order for the ‘bang’ to take place…nothing in this vast universe can just exist on its own and therefore even those who say they don’t believe have to know that that is true… God bless you…He certainly loves.

In scientific terms, in the cosmology of Physics, the Big Bang theory states that that the universe appeared from nowhere as an extremely dense and hot state, about 13.7 billion years ago (±2%). This is based on observations indicating the expansion of space as indicated by the Hubble red shift of distant galaxies, taken together with principles of cosmology.
If these observations are extrapolated into the past, they show that the universe exploded from a ‘gravitational singularity’ – the tiniest pinpoint of the most extreme density and temperature, as predicted by general relativity, which contained all the matter and energy of the entire universe.
What scientists cannot explain is WHY.

‘Let there be Light’, says the Bible
We can read this in the very beginning of the Jewish and Christian Bibles, in a book called Genesis. Here are the words from the New International Version, Genesis chapter 1, verses 1 to 5:
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

The word Genesis in Hebrew: בראשית, in Greek: Γένεσις, have the meanings of “birth”, “creation”, “cause”, “beginning”, “source” and “origin”

So yes scientists have a theory but there is no explanation as to why. We have the truth. I find it rather strange that people prefer to believe in a theory than a glaring truth.

      • Humanist
        July 17, 2011

While you have a few things accurate here, you have still made a number of huge leaps without acknowledging that you have skipped over gaps in your theory.

While it is true that scientists can “see” back about 13.7 billion years into the past, beyond which there do not appear to be light-giving objects that formed at the Big Bang (meaning the Big Bang likely occurred just a little earlier), it is wrong to make the leap to say that there must be a creator god to set things off. It is true that no one knows for certain how the Big Bang occurred or if the Big Bang is even the right model for describing the beginning of the universe. Many scientists, in fact, favor other models, such as the many-worlds theory (in which there are many universes, not just one) or theories in which the Big Bang has occurred and will occur many times in a sort of endless cycle. Stephen Hawking, the world’s most respected living scientist, claims that universes can form out of nothing according to quantum theory; I admit that this is a tricky assertion, but hopefully some of our most advanced technology, like the Large Hadron Collider (which recreates conditions like those during the Big Bang), will provide some insight here.

Now, if you say it’s just easier to throw in a creator to start the process off, you still need to explain where that creator comes from. It is not scientific to say there is a “creator” that was just there for the hell of it. That is not science, and no scientist will tell you otherwise. It is true that theoretical physicists often use terms like “God” (especially Michio Kaku), but they do not mean a personal deity or any kind of deity, really, by this. What they mean is simply whatever began the process of the Big Bang (or however the universe[s] came into being). So be careful how you interpret this. There is no evidence for a “creator” in the sense of a deity, so it is wrong to say that science is moving towards this. Sure, some scientists may wonder if that is the case. But until there is evidence, it is not a valid scientific theory.

Another mistake: you jump from a vague description of a “creator” into a highly specific creator, the biblical god. There is no justification for such a leap. Let’s say there is a “thing” that created the universe (or many universes). Okay. Why, then, would you make the leap to say that this undefined thing is a man on a cloud who waited ten billion years to reveal himself to a few primates in the desert? (This is a somewhat crude rendering of the idea, but you get the picture.) Why would this undefined thing suddenly become the highly specific deity described in the bible? That is a great leap of logic, and it is already a leap to say there is a creator, since I was merely putting forth a theoretical scenario.

You have moreover jumped further and claimed that you possess “a glaring truth” when there is in fact no evidence, glaring or faint, for this. Scientists are not fools. Science seeks testable theories and repeatedly observed evidence. Just because Genesis contains exceedingly vague descriptions of things being created does not make it true. Moreover, Genesis’ description focuses on the Earth, utterly ignoring the unbelievably vast universe around it that has existed for about ten billion years since the Earth formed. Furthermore, Genesis is not even close to the first account of the universe being created. What makes IT special?

Finally, the 13.7 billion years of our universe’s existence (and even the 4.6 billion of the Earth’s) far exceeds any biblical description of how long we have been around for. Most Creationists believe, according to their reading of the bible, that the universe was created 10,000 years ago, which is absurd. Also, if the theory of multiple universes is accurate, it also removes the idea that ours is somehow special. If there are many universes, some of which do not support life, ours is simply one with the right conditions to (more specifically, on our planet). And perhaps there are other universes in which life has formed. What then? Can humans truly seem important on such a scale? Even if there is only one universe, it is far too large and unforgiving to suggest that evolved primates on a little planet are the center of all that is.

Vagueness is easy to sell. Use vague language, and, all of a sudden, what you say can be interpreted in so many ways that it is almost impossible not to be able to tie it to a vast range of things. This is why the absurd prophecies of Nostradamus have remained so popular. They are vague, and because they are vague, people can use them wherever they see the slightest connection to what they read. The same goes for many passages in many holy books.

So, Just Maybe, thanks for complicating the discussion, and I hope my responses have complicated it further. At the end, friend, none of us know for certain, but that does not mean all ideas are equally probable.

If you had not heard the word, then probably you would have an excuse. Also stop judging. Our Creator will do all the judging in due course and time. All you need to do is to do your best and live right according to his wishes. Stop looking around you and judging. The same measure you use will be meted out to you. Cleanse yourself even all around you is messy. He will lift you up when you fall as long as you trust him. Mine eyes have seen the Glory of the Lord around and every day of my life. A word of caution, we are all human and non not one of us is perfect but his grace and mercy will see us thru.

Our Saviour on the tree called on his father and said “Father forgive them for they know not what they have done” May the Lord forgive you for your pronouncement and may his H spirit touch in ways that you will then turn to serve the true one.
