Ronald Charles nominated to be UWP candidate for Roseau Valley

ronald-charles
Attorney, Ronald Charles is the Roseau Valley nominee for the UWP candidacy in the next election.

The Roseau Valley Constituency association of the United Workers Party (UWP), has elected attorney Ronald Charles, as its nominee to be the UWP’s candidate in the next general election.

Charles who is from Trafalgar, won overwhelmingly over the other contender, Wotten Waven resident, Lisa Marshal, at a meeting of the constituency association which was held on Sunday afternoon.

Dominica News Online learnt that initially there were several persons vying for the nomination. However, the number was reduced to two after some of the would-be candidates withdrew.

” What I would say is that it is with great humility to see that the Roseau Valley constituency association has nominated me as the potential candidate to represent the UWP. However, the party executive would then have to meet to endorse that nomination and therefore, there is still a lot of checks and balances that would have to be looked into, prior to me having any further comments or not.” Charles said when contacted by DNO.

He also thanked his opponent for the nomination, Lisa Marshal and the members of the UWP Roseau Valley constituency association for their support.

If the Charles becomes the UWP candidate for the Roseau Valley, he will have to contend with DLP incumbent in that constituency, Dr. Collin McIntyre, who displaced the UWP’s Norris Charles in the last general election.

We need to redefine representative politics in this country. I strongly believe that the Parl Rep should not necessarily be a Minster of Government. The Parl Rep should see about representing his people in Parliament. This should be his only focus. Oftentimes we see Parl Reps torn between representing their constituency and giving partisan political direction to a Ministry. Oftentimes, the people of a constituency want their Parl Rep to take a certain stance on a matter but the Parl Rep cannot do so because Cabinet says otherwise. The current political system is very inefficient; it breeds lousy Ministers. I think the time is now for us to elect a President who can then select his Cabinet from the available good leaders and managers out there. Currently, the Political Leaders is forced to give ministries to guys who are good at mepwy and insult; guys who won elections but are poor administrators. We have suffered this inefficient system too long. Parl Reps should focus on representing their people while the elected President run the country.

Mr Charles is a straight-forward and honest person. I have know him for years even during the time he worked at Island Car Rental.I have known him to be a very good man. He has improved greatly, went to study and is now back, making a positive contribution to his country, but in all fairness bro its a tough battle.

@ 2…..You 2 FOO!!!Yah we know that this called Skerrit leadership is reckless. lazy , insultive, incompetent and weak.Is he the real leader of Dominica, or the leader a Bajan? Is he the real leader or is it a Senior Counsel?Someone pontificated that “I can speak on his behalf anytimne anywhere’? CAM YPUI REMEMBER?
In addition to your leaders very loose tongue, now he appears to be a MAD MAN. To prove it, just give him 15 minutes to run his long and loose tongue on the ‘A Show’ and you will see how he will believe that he is in a “CAB ARE WAY” OR A RUM SHOP. Is he a leader?
Leaders like that do a lot of injustice to an already poor country. HE NEEDS TO BE VOTED OUT, AND HE KNOWS THAT IT WILL HAPPEN.
I am still waiting for Ambrose to “HANG SPRANG” him, for trying to Strengthen Joshua Francis in the Roseau South constituency, by referring to Joshua as a loiterer, and one who can only represents people who have stolen rum. Many Roseau South residents believe that this statement has strengthened Joshua, and it was a deliberate ploy to weaken Ambrose, so Ambrose wake Up! SHOW SKERRIT THAT YOU ARE INFURIATED WITH HIM. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE.
      HOW LONG?
      NOT LONG.
      Skerrit is a mental case.

There is no internal fighting because those men and women in DLP were selected and paid to do a job an shut-up! They do not even have the right to think freely on any issues.
So there is no comparison with the world class team that I have seen in the UWP and the Lame guys in DLP.
It is a shame that some of us still can’t open our minds for the progression of Dominica.

    December 9, 2013

We do not have to nor are we awaiting Dr. Mac’s “plan” for the development of the Roseau Valley in order to make an informed decision as to whether to support the new UWP candidate for the Valley or to continue to support the Dr Mac and the DLP.

There is no room for playing the so-called balanced and objective approach in analyzing the obvious in the face our present reality. We simply have to accept what is and move on positively. At this juncture, we simply support Ronald and the UWP as the better choice for the Valley. Ronald is a great person and part of a dynamic and more progressive, clean and visionary team PERIOD.

It is not necessary to weigh any future plan from Dr. Mac and the DLP at this juncture. We are not satisfied with the status quo and WE ARE RONNING WITH RONALD IN THE VALLEY IRRESPECTIVE OF COLLIN’S BELATED PLANS FOR THE VALLEY- which never existed and does not exist.
    .
The incumbent has been in government over the last 10 years. We know all what we need to know about the incumbent and his party’s failed policies. We know of how his modus operandi. The record is there for scrutiny. It speaks for itself. That record is not limited to a record of performance of physical stuff, like repair and maintenance of roads, which we expect as citizens from our government. This is a basic expectation. We need to examine the record of the intangibles of conduct, attitude, relationships, practices etc.

The people of the Valley already have enough to make an informed decision. We understand that we need CHANGE AND IMPROVEMENT, as our good Dr. St Jean has coined it. We agree that those who are asking for change in the Valley are not asking to change to the same thing but those of us who support the UWP are convinced that with the UWP the change is for the better.

The problem is not just the incumbent as a Parl.Rep and a person. In fact, the Parl Rep is a good guy, great family -absent of politics. But he is now on the wrong team. The winds of change are blowing in the opposite direction. The problem is with the policies or lack thereof of the DLP. The choice before us is clear. ON THE BALANCE OF PROBABILITIES WE ARE VOTING RONALD CHARLES IN THE VALLEY. There is absolutely no need to look forward to reading and listening to the plans of the incumbent to make any decision. We are already convinced that we are RONNING WITH RONALD IN THE VALLEY.

As a member of a Team Dominica, Ronald shares the vision of the UWP to develop the country. While we await the specifics of his vision for the Valley, his mere association with the UWP is in itself enough to give him support if anyone is convinced that we need change in Dominica now. In that regard, we call on all residents/ citizens of the Roseau Valley to feel free to contribute to the process of rethinking, rebuilding and renewing a visionary development plan for the Roseau Valley. The plan for development is not necessarily about Ronald Bing Charles. It shall be a plan for the development of all of us in the Valley and by extension Dominica. We thank everyone, including the incumbent and his supporters to come on board in giving love and support to Ronald as we move ahead in unity and peace.

    Respectfully
    Roseau Valley

DNO consistently attempts to use news stories to put down the Government of Skerit. You have an obligation to bring the public news and information whether it is in favor of your party or not. For some reason certain excerpt do not make it to the web. Your arrogant analysis of news is called gutter journalism. Just report the stories as the facts warrant, and do not interject your personal feelings. My article regarding the practices of the newly nominated Mr. Charles has not deem worthy to be posted. I am reiterating my point, as a public official, honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity should part of one’s portfolio.

Don’t we all agree that as a public official, honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity should part of one’s portfolio?
And it is because of that which we know of the DLP and its officials, we have decided that enough is enough and we are RONNING WITH RONALD.

People must not emotionally lash out at DNO for providing a service to the public. We should be happy to have the opportunity but we cannot use this medium to tarnish the image of people who are not yet in public office. In fact, whereas we can be critical of the quality of our representation at the government level, we cannot use DNO to vilify anyone for that matter.

It is shameful that you have referred to DNO as engaging in” gutter journalism” whereas the hosts of the Next Level Show used the result of a manipulated DNO poll during the Independence to show that the masses did not support the UWP’s protest action.

DNO has refused to publish several of my postings. I usually review the contents and remove contents that I think may not be suitable for publication and resubmit. Perhaps you should do the same and if you can find the strength within you..express your kind support for Ronald Charles also.

I listened to the Jobs and Economic Forum, they conducted recently, and I want no one to tell me these professionals will only create 5000 jobs in 3 years. I say to all Dominicans this is an extremely conservative figure. I think between 7000-10 000 jobs will be created in three years. Now Skerrit and the Mac fella in the Valley do not want to hear that. They like to see people unemployed, so that Skerrit can go on the ‘A’ Show and call them unemployed “loiterers”, but ask those in Roseau South, how well that loose and uninformed statement has been working in Joshua Francis favour.
I am still waiting on Ambrose to take on Skerrit on that one. Was Skerrit deliberately trying to undermine Ambrose? How could Skerrit make such an imbecile and unintelligible statement? Is it that he just uses words without knowing their meanings?

What you should be more concerned about is that the minister of education, the ministry responsible for teaching every student in this land has zero degree too. So get real.

    • Frank Talker
      December 9, 2013

It is not about having a degree; it is about leadership. Lennox has shown great leadership, stewardship and Statesmanship. Do you know of a man called “Butch” Stewart? He owns the “Sandals” chain of resorts. He owns the “Gleaner” newspaper in Jamaica and he once owned “Air Jamaica”. He has NO DEGREE! But he is a great leader. He has the skill to identify talent and to surround himself with talented people who can advise him. Muduro just gave Dominica US$15 million but this Muduro has no degree. Why didn’t the DLP tell him “to hell with your money?”
Boss, leadership is not about education or having a degree. It is about the ability to cause others to join your cause. Lennox is exhibiting those qualities.

Finally, I received the answer I was looking for because I often wondered what gave some comments poor ratings and are hidden, when I click the comments, more often than not, they are non abusive, or have any foul language. The only thing would be they are in support of the government.

If someone says they voting UWP it is not given a bad rating. If you say you voting DLP you get a hidden comment and low rating.

Aren’t we fortunate that many of us on this blog are unable to vote and not able to change the voters minds.

You don’t know Bingsworth? You won’t know Bingsworth!

He has done a lot where?
        In Trafalgar…ah that’s nice.

        What did he do?
        Uhmmm help organize a Basketball League…Oh OK…well that’s nice I guess.

So you organize a League and all of a sudden that means you are a quality guy….

Known him for all his life and Bingsworth is out for Bingsworth, and Bingsworth only.

He worked hard to become an attorney, which needs to be applauded and no one can knock him for that….but besides the Education, one has to also start showing what he or she has done, can do, and wants to do.

Roseau Valley is not just Trafalgar.

Trafalgar while it has the biggest Seat in the Valley, is not the only part of the Valley.

Bingsworth is known in Trafalgar, Fond Cani, Shawford. He is a relative unknown in Wotten Waven (Vallay), Morne Prosper, Laudat, Cochrane.

Morne Prosper, a UWP strong hold will be competitive.

Then again what do I know? All the experts predicted a UWP victory already, so I guess I’ll pack my things and move on.

I remember the 18 to 3 prediction last election….oh wait, that was the result for DLP not a prediction.

The prediction was 12 to 10…..

If elections were only held on the Internet, UWP would never lose.

But in the booth we must go, so off I go with my things Of Course.

Best of luck to Bing and Dr. Mac too!

In what way do you want to feel Linton? It cannot be in flare and flamboyance. We have had 14 years of that with sewo and ole talk but look at where it brought our country. This country needs a focused leader to take this ship out of the troubled waters and with a steady hand lead us to prosperity. So far, we can all see Linton’s work. They say he passes people straight on the road and on the coast to coast to coast he proved them wrong…He is a loving and caring person. Mr. Linton is like an conductor of an orchestra. He does not have to have to play an instrument himself but must have the ability to recognize talent, nurture and it and let it blossom to produce a harmony of mind and soul with one beautiful cohesive and strong message. Not everybody is gifted with that kind of talent but he certainly has it.

Well team Dominica is really attracting people of character, Substance, Integrity and Vision. This is a clear indication that Dominicans are getting the message being taken to the nook and cranny of Dominica. The message is that “””Skerrit (since he is the government), has impoverished this country, and has reduced the majority of the population to the rank of beggars. By means of his Red Clinic,he has created a begging population, and we can do better. A leader who loves his country should do better. HE NEEDS TO BE VOTED OUT!In 2013 we need someone who can sustain a conversation without insulting his opponet. Skerrit cannot do that, we need 5000-10000 jobs in 3years, Skerrit cannot do that. We need an international airport. Skerrit cannot do that. We need a high speed ferry service. Skerrit cannot do that. We need a PM with a brain on his head. This person is not skerrit.
