Skerrit sees Grenada election result as a rejection of opposition track record

Prime Minister Skerrit has reacted to an historic clean sweep of the polls for the second consecutive time, by Dr. Keith Mitchell’s New National Party (NNP) in Grenada. The NNP won the elections 15 seats to none.

Skerrit says Dr. Mitchell was rewarded for his efforts at rebuilding investor confidence in his country and for addressing many nation critical initiatives in Grenada.

“Prime Minister Mitchell is also known for his effective communication practices where he remains in touch and in tune with the people. The result also shows that in these challenging times, the electorate was not willing to go with a relatively inexperiened and unproven opposition led largely by an individual who clearly did not inspire the nation enough for it to fall in line with his policies,” Skerrit told state-owned DBS Radio on Wednesday morning.

Skerrit also attributed Mitchell’s win to what he says is “a global trend of rewarding effort and sidelining generalities especially from challengers whose track record or lack thereof does not lend to the sustenance of voter confidence.”

The Dominican prime minister lauded the NNP victory as an extraordinary historic achievement by Dr. Mitchell and his New National Party and extended congratulations from the DLP to Mitchell, the NNP and the people of Grenada.

You will not tell us who to have represent us as leader of UWP. I know you guys kind of tricks. If we were weak like you drinking cool-aid then we will agree with you and oppose Lennox to put in someone else just for you all to have something negative to say about him. So it is a cycle of hatred that you all have but we will not fall for it.
Lennox Linton will be the next Prime Minister of Dominica.

Dominicans are ready to reject you at the next election.
Why didn’t the journalist ask you if you plan to call election early, you would not have answered but he should have asked you that question. I’m asking are you planning to call election soon, mr PM.
Just remember the people said there will be no election without electoral reform, do get that going. Hom. Lennox Linton is ready to take the job of PM and the UWP as day to form the government.
    God bless Dominica.

Ray, you got it right.. Dominicans are ready to reject that BOLD FACE NO FACE CONVICTED LIAR, Man at age 63 and is still A WORK IN PROGRESS, at the next general election.
Don’t you realize that the Government has the majority of Dominican at it’s back?
The minority cannot make up the government. Those saying no election without electoral reform are just another arm of the opposition and not even quite such of what they are talking about. Imagine, that nonsense… DEAD PEOPLE VOTING! how on earth a dead man can vote!?
Ask Matt on Q95 to play that song for you.. For the sake of the COUNTRY KICK THEM OUT!

The Rejection of Skerrit and his corrupt Labour Government will soon be announced…and we Dominicans and the region cannot wait enough for that day of election to come, to free we the people and Dominica from this corrupt regime.
Now my dear Dominicans, read this from Skerrit: I believe he s frightened and on the run:
“Skerrit also attributed Mitchell’s win to what he says is “a global trend of rewarding effort and sidelining generalities especially from challengers whose track record or lack thereof does not lend to the sustenance of voter confidence.” You read for yourself…….”It is a global trend of rewarding the citizens who have been suffering for over 18years………”.and “whose track record, or lack of (that is Skerrit) does not lend to the sustenance of voter confidence”.. Well Skerrit must Go. We have lost faith, confidence, trust in him He has faked and failed us Big time. Skerrit must Go.

Oh Skerrit shut up! The management of Grenada cannot be compared to the crap that you are doing here! All you always like to run and grab up other people’s victory to glorify the nonsense that you do here in Dominica. Next you will hear you for Antigua, while these men are developing their country you are doing nothing to develop yours. Sakway Torneh Man!

    Not so quick Mr. Skerrit…
Read these two paragraphs from the Freedom party’s congratulatory message recently. It shows also that this is not the same situation here in here in Dominica.

“Like the Dominica Freedom Party, the New National Party (NNP) is a member of the Caribbean Democratic Union, which promotes the ideals of liberal democracy, and encourages center-right policies including those in relation to, helping people pull themselves up “by their own boots straps”; creating the best enabling environment for them to do so; and providing social support to those who can’t otherwise help themselves and doing so in transparent ways that uphold human dignity.

Undoubtedly, the strong economic performance of Grenada over the last five years featured highly in the decision of the people of Grenada to hand a clean sweep of the polls (all fifteen seats) to the NNP after having done so five years ago.”

The key words here is [STRONG ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE & THE PROMOTION OF…

Grenada’s election results are not related or relevant in anyway to Dominica’s situation. Skerrit referred to the opposition as being inexperienced and unproven. Mr. Skerrit has experience in victimization, the destruction of the economy, starvation wages, housing shortage, bad roads, rising criminal activities, inadequate infrastructural developments, divisive politics, opaqueness in government, dictatorial tendencies, micro management, procrastination, lack of foresight, selfishness and that’s just the beginning. Dominica is in dire straits and needs the fulltime focus of the government . There is no time to get sidetracked by the election results of another country that have no relevance to yours, Mr. Skerrit. But again, you are such a megalomaniac that you have to take credit for someone else’s hard work.

Skerrit, if as you say, anything like a global trend of rewarding effort and sidelining generalities especially from challengers whose track record or lack thereof does not lend to the sustenance of voter confidence exists, then you should have been PM for a maximum of 4 years.

Skerrit is in no position to comment on any Electorial elections or process. His backyard is very stained with corrupt practices in previous elections, none of this nonsense we have heard happening in Grenada. It appears that this party won its election on Merit without any bobol, any Astaphans interference, with fairness that allowed people to chose whom they feel is honest, not corrupt, a path for development to take Grenada further forward in its social/economic development, whereas Skerrit has made many loose promises that he has not implemented. Skerrit`s time in office only has the people of Dominica to remember the Bin Bobol and the Fertilizer Bobol that the state is still crying out for repayment and arrests for meddling with states finances which appears that top civil servant may have ignored for whatever reasons.
So Skerrit you are not yet mature to lecture to Grenada`s election process and results where you have failed Dominicans in its electoral process. Skerrit Must Go.

Under Skerrit Dominica went from an island in 2018 to 1918, meaning Skerrit took our country behind by 100 years and please don’t say is because of Erika and Maria because that’s not the case. Erika and Maria just magnified our problem. It is the policies of Hugo Chavez Skerrit embraced and implemented in Da that destroyed us. For example, Erika or Maria did not touch Venezuela. In fact I don’t know when last they were touched by a natural disaster. But look at Venezuela today, less than five years after Chavez died. Let’s not forget they are a rich country with oil. As we speak the rich country is so badly devastated by the policies of Chavez that as we speak things are so bad that the UN is trying to see what they can do to come to their rescue . People the situation of Venezuela today is a preview of where Skerrit has Dominica today and our future. The sad thing is, Skerrit has secured a present and future for his family in the US because he knows he has destroyed our futur

Mr PM 15 constituencies in Grenada with a population much more than DA. St. Lucia, St.Vincent, also with much bigger population have less constituencies than us. Please consider reducing the number here for the sake of prudence as u like to say. In Antigua it is 17 and St.Kitts. 7. We have 21 with so small a population. Let us be realistic and save some much needed money.

Congrats to the NNP. Well at least they are working in Grenada. I find DA should be further under all these years of DLP. Even before Hurricane Maria, DA just in a rut. Just a thought.

Skerrit have a lot of time on his hand to be commenting on be commenting on such things but can’t do or show a thing for all that money thats been coming into Dominica to rebuild and can’t show for it hence hurricane season is fast approaching and some people are still in the same living conditions post Maria. Watch something else happen to Dominica and folks for watch or worry in lending there support due to the nasty mishandling of efforts funds etc this man and his administration are doing.. Its Sad Shame

So what was Skerrit’ trying to say? Was he trying to imply that we in Dominica should follow that same trend? I hope not because the situation here is completely different. In fact if I were a Grenadian I would no doubt have for the NNP because they have done what is needed to stay in power. In Dominica however we see the opposite. Skerrit has destroyed the past, present and future of Dominica in a very big way. In the past we had a very strong farming community, very strong pool of workers be it engineers, electricians, builders, roofers, helpers etc; we had a very strong and effective public works department that we could depend on to keep our roads clean and safe. We had a well respected police force to protect us. We lost all and more under Skerrit! Today we have no Breeze’s Mart, no Ross, no farms and no workers . Our future under Skerrit looks very troubling as many of our young people have not been working and are not paying taxes and social security for when they turn 62.

is where I have a problem. Whilst I have a great regard for the U.K. I am of the opinion that the electoral system we inherited from them is inherently undemocratic and an impediment to national unity. To illustrate, the election in Grenada was won by the incumbent NNP party taking all 15 seats with a reported 58.9% of the votes, leaving the main opposition with no seats at all, yet collecting 40.5 of the votes. It means that a lot of Grenadian citizens will have no representation and this stores up frustration and dissent, especially if a government ignores the wishes of such a large percentage of the population. I have no political or personal affiliation with any of the political parties in Grenada but I can foresee a lot of unrest to the detriment of that island’s development.Proportional representation is more democratic as it encourages compromise and co-operation for the benefit of the majority of people..

All that was needed to say was congratulations. However mr. Skerrit with his power obsession and zealous rant prove his psycho mentality. I met kieth Mitchell and for those who dont know he is a real PhD in maths and statistics who lectured at university and accomplished Somthing in his personal life. The Grenadian people have a PM who has a track record of success in private life and political life. Skerrit on the other hand is trying to make this win about him and equate himself to Mitchell. A man who taught writting at state college and snuffed his nose at people while he walk in roseau, was not man enough to make a life for himself as a private citizen instead use his office to get wealthy while population in poverty, never was experience at anything except argue with anything including himself on the road in Paile, elected by a very small percentage of the population and and has done absolutely nothing to lift Dominica unless he benifits personally. That is his experience.
