POEM: Skerro speaks

It’s no intention of mine,

Why do they call on me to resign?

After all I’ve done for you; my people

They are just a disgruntled few.

I say to hell with them!

No constitution or law

Prevented my nomination

I won the election,

And now: I’m the P.M.

So what if I may or may not

Be of dual citizenship

Of mine or my mother’s hand.

That’s none of their damn business!

I may have wealth unknown

Villas of “straw” and land at “crown”

I’m not giving up my throne

That would be ridiculous,

Yes, that would be absurd.

Give up travel?

To every region of the world,

So many perks

Not to mention the girls,

Oh yes; I’m sure you’ve heard…

Am I guilty?

Let the courts decide,

By you won’t hear the affirmative from me

Let the judge preside.

I give jobs to my friends

Who hasn’t?

I give money to the sick and needy

They didn’t!

I comfort and care for the elderly

They’re just jealous

Education for all who seek it

But not for them; these zealots.

What makes me corrupt?

Ye without sin cast the first stone

Or should I say blast the first stone?

Oh, Oh Edison

It’s a bitter pill to swallow,

Losing is such sour medicine.

If only you were like me.

Young and handsome with dimples

Not old and grey with facial pimples.

I think you should give up

Losing once, twice, three times isn’t enough?

Let Spagz and Green steer the ship!

So greedy for power why you won’t quit?

But the people have no confidence in you or them

So for now: I am at the helm.

So whap and take it like a man

It’s my turn to give you blows,

My time to bask in the sunshine

Remember; 18 seats are mine.

I win more and more seats every damn time

Hahaha, be careful the things you say about me

Next time, I’m coming for Roseau, Marigot and Salisbury

They escaped from my grasp

But for how long, that is what you should ask.

The people need my representation

Not from Green or the self-proclaimed “banana men”

I’ve done more for farmers than they ever did,

Giving free fertilizers and inputs

Despite the Caribbean region insults.

My band of ministers may be soft

But let’s be clear; Skerro is not!

I won’t be moved

You’ve just strengthened my resolve

To remain in my place

10, 15, 20 years if I choose to stay

I shall be declared the Greatest

Just like Mohammed Ali,

Yes, that will be my legacy!

Green, Edo and Spagz can eat my dust,

Hahaha, these boys so full of envy and lust.

I’m here until I kick the bucket

But not like my friends Rosie or Charlo,

I’m not leaving until Edo turn political paro.

Ladies and Gentlemen; let your conscience be your guide

And vote Skerro and Labour every time

Grace, Mercy and Peace, like the man from La Plaine

Sing Skerro for P.M. again and again

You love your P.M.?

You will vote for him again?

I do not know what some Dominicans want. There is no PERFECTION
in anyone of us.I had a few friends who just returned from Dominica and they are
amazed at what is happening Dominica. They are singing high praises for Dominica
Why all the Hate? As far and long as i can remember no administration has been perfect
Former Prime Minister Pierre Charles worked so hard to improve the economy
and they gave him hell, but when he died then every one saw how he was working hard
towards making Dominica a better for all of us.If we want things together we all have to do our share
this is our home, People are coming from off islands and enjoying and praising the country
but htose who live there all they doing is to drag it down. Yet they say they love Dominica
We ought to remember the old saying. You know what u have but u do not know what u gonna get
Dominicans let us work together for the betterment of our country God bless Dominica and
    all of us

      dominica i come from

I am with you here. The way some people are talking, if some of us do not use our mind, especially the humble us, who are living away, we would think that everyone in Dominica goes to bed crying and wake in the same mood all day long. But when I was in Dominica in the summer of 2008, all I saw around me was love and peace. I spent six weeks there and I was happy every hour of the day, for all of the six weeks.

Imagine I drop my purse with lots money and everything else in it, at Whitchurch, and somebody pick it up and give it to management to hold in their office. My purse was sitting on a shelf in management office, with everything in it when I went to check, and found it there.

But today in January 2011, some people have so many ugly things to say about Dominica

But that is the way human beings are; nothing can satisfy them. I know why too!

          LA LAND

I percieve that you are the same idiot, hiding behind different identities–that alone explains that you, and the llikes of you are “useless cowards” who contribute nothing to society. Therefore, I suggest that you keep your empty advise to yourself until you vanish like smoke in the air with it.

I can imagine your boredom, not only because of my comments, but because your mind is made up of a material like spider webs, for example–the touch of a finger and it disappears. How can you have any comprehension of the situations of your own existence, much more for the wisdom and understandings of other people. Unfortunately, for you. I also perceive you to be a very sorry person; Enjoy the rewards!

  4. More propaganda
    February 2, 2011

The saddest thing – apart from this awfully written piece of “poetry” – is that nobody on here commenting realizes that it is a SATIRE ON Skerrit. This is exactly what this badly written piece is doing. It is not celebrating Skerrit but basically ridiculing him.
On wonder it is under Anonymous. I wouldn’t put my name to this piece either! lol

    Wow… Dominicans. Do better
    *smh*

    Satire: sat·ire
       /ˈsætaɪər/ Show Spelled[sat-ahyuhr] Show IPA
    –noun
    1.
the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc.
    2.
a literary composition, in verse or prose, in which human folly and vice are held up to scorn, derision, or ridicule.
    3.
a literary genre comprising such compositions.

      More propaganda

Someone has spoken their sentiment, about Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, but the theme is presented as if the Prime Minister himself. is speaking.

The name is “Anonymous”, to flourish the theme of the poem. How is it a satire, since that sentiment is the exact sentiment of the majority of Dominicans towards the Prime Minister?

Anyway that is your understanding, not mine. However, your understanding or mine, I still think it is beautifully written, there again, you have found it awfully written. Oh dear!

Thanks for the positive feedback, the poem was really written in a lighthearted nature and meant for laughter and not to be taken too seriously. I hope it is well recieved.

See this is what we need to see more of in D’a, a little more lightheartedness.

Thank you to the author you have me laughing, laughing.  I hope you have more wit and prose in store for us. You should start compiling a book of them, keep them subtle and pointed and you should make yourself some money. DNO needs to give us one of these every so often to chill everybody out. This is good medicine!
