All set for DFA election

dfaThe stage is set and all systems are ready for the delegates conference and general election of the Dominica Football Association (DFA) set for August 1, 2015 at the football house in Bath Estate.

The election was originally set for late last month but Dexter Francis took the DFA to court on salary matters and to challenge the legality of Glen Etienne as President of the association. His actions caused the elections it was postponed.

Francis, Ibrahim Brohim and Etienne are vying for the top post of President of the DFA and according to interim president Ken George everything is in place for the meeting and election.

“We have everything in place, we also have a representative of CONCACAF who is on island to monitor the elections and ensure that everything goes on smoothly. Also we have retired chief elections officer Clem John who will be in-charge of the elections,” George said.

He expects persons to “conduct themselves” in a professional and orderly manner to ensure the smooth flow of business.

It is high time that Dominicans start identifying capable people to represent their interest. FIFA is an international body and Dominica should be represented with honor.
Listening to Mr. Glenn Etienne it clearly shows he does not have the capacity to represent the football interest at that level.
Dominicans Footballers is one thing attending FIFA conferences and its another to represent or make representation on behalf of your footballers. For some people its just to know they are part of this.
Tomorrow I hope you footballers are sensible enough to chose someone at the helm that can represent your interest Internationally. Someone who can go out there and have a high level discussion with FIFA representatives on Dominica Footballers behalf.
Its time we stop electing people based on popularity and friendship and do whats best for the interest of the sport and its participant both players and spectators. Make an Educated and Informed Decision tomorrow. Good Luck to all the teams.
