ROSEAU, Dominica, Feb 2, CMC – United States-based Dominican athlete Tyron Benjamin, has continued to make his mark at the collegiate level in the United States.
Benjamin, who is currently is the United States pursuing higher education, established a new national record in the men’s shot put at a meet in New York at the New Balance Track & Field Center.
The Morgan State athlete threw a distance of 18.41 metres to secure the gold medal at the meet. His throw of 18.41 metres surpassed his previous by 40 centimetres, which stood at 18.01 metres.
With his throw, Benjamin now leads the Mid-Eastern Athletics Conference and is currently ranking 10th in the United States this season.
