After taking a short break for the elections and Christmas holidays, the Dominica National Domino Association is now back to keeping the game of domino alive by hosting another grand event.
In collaboration with Guinness, the association will host a 16-round knockout Dominica competition on Sunday January 3, 2010 at the Goodwill Primary School.
The event will begin at 11:00 am and will involve teams from four different zones around the island who will battle for the first prize of the competition.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the association Kerwin Guye said that the 16 teams are among the teams which took part in a National Domino League earlier this year.
“Sixteen teams comprising of the four top teams from each zone are going to battle in a knock out style for the grand prize. The qualifying teams are in Zone A-D from the first to fourth place.” Guye said.
The following teams will compete:
Zone A: Rockers of Paix Bouche, Bad Boys of Anse De Mai, Lagoon of Portsmouth, and Yardy Boys of Morne Rachette.
Zone B: 7-11 Pharmacy Diamonds of Atkinson, Rebels of Fond Cole, Last End Bar of Mahaut and Vasity Boys of Tarish Pit.
Zone C: Swansea of Pottersville, Jars Sales Services Tremors of Grand Bay, Marinop Rangers Morne Zion of Mahuat and Krazy T Newtown of Newtown.
Zone D: Burton’s Easy Riders of Eggleston, Burton’s Ghost Busters of Roseau, Dolphins of Scotts Head and Sparkers of Point Michel.
According to Guye, teams should be at the School’s auditorium by 10:30 am. The PRO also took the opportunity to extend season’s greetings to Dominicans on behalf of the association.
