Congratulation to the small team, that does big thing.we should not be fighting eachother on who drop the ball in giving support to these kids. What we need now is to go foward, forget the pass it is water under the bridge, let’s put in place what the kids need.
Dominica is big enough to have proper playing field in many diffrent areas, though the stadium should have a track around the grounds, it’s still a start but we need to put real thing down for sports to engage the youth so they doe go astray, and can build their self esteem, instead of giving position to politician who not going to work for these youth, but for their party.
Time this party politics business take a backseat, let’s works for the future, work with and for the kids today.

MY COACH NABI well done!Your effort did not go in vain.Never give up the struggle Luan performance and success is a reflection of your hard work and dedication towards her.WE HAVE ACHIEVED and this is a good name for Dominica the Isiah Thomas Secondary School the Aspires Club and also to the criticizers. GOD BLESS YOU ALL to her sup[porting family especially her mum God has rewareded you for standing solely by Luan. Better things to come. ONE LOVE!

Thanks much appreciated. People see Luan performing today and would not know the incredible amount of sacrifice that I made and the petty politics from some sporting administrators I had to push through to get Luan to where she is today. I give God praise for the persistence he gave us both and the guidance he offered to keep our eyes on the prize. Now we ask for the financial support to continue Luan training for the CAC Juniors and the World Juniors. I have spent a lot of my personal funds to bring her to Trinidad for special training and competition because no one was answering my plea for help. Only Mr. Trevor Shillingford and Miss Renata Siegenthaler came forward to assist. I trust that her gold medal performance would attract the needed finances. Our club account name is Aspirers Athletics Club at the National bank of Dominica. Account number 300020510 would like to see people put their money where their mouth is and assist me with Luan’s development.

Thanks much for the words of commendations. The coaching staff of the Aspirers Athletics Club will continue to do our best towards Luan development until she is ready to move on to further herself outside of Dominica.

Dominica has talented athletes who need us to work together and invest in their development. Having a track now will not necessarily raise the level of athletes in Dominica. We need dedicated coaches who have a passion for the sport in addition to dedicated athletes who are prepared to be consistent in training. Luan performance emulated these two things and that is why she was successful.

    @Correction
I am really surprised at your statement. “It could also be a marketing program for the company by having thier name mention as sponsors”.
If you’re pissed off at Brisbane it’s the wrong forum,if I may say.
This is not a promotional things,it’s about supporting and developing the youth of this national.
A little again you would want to dictate to peoples how to spend their hard earn money, wow take it easy on that man, what ever he did to you face him, mano el mano
Do you know how it feels to go around asking people to sponsor you, it’s almost like you are begging, while there is a Ministry or a Committee in place for that.
They still remain National Athletes, if companies around the island want to sponsor let it be their freedom of choice. This is democracy. But it’s still remains the government responsibility to do so.(Next Level)

Congratulation to Ms Gabriel, on bringing home the gold ,you lead the way and make this country proud, you are the true reflection on hard work and dedication,in spite on the very poor or absolutely no support from (our)government (Athletic Committee my foot)
Hopefully the next time around peoples will not have to go around seeking for sponsor to represent your country, but the finances will be in place(Supporting our young peoples speech)

Grain sel our private sector such as O.D Brisbane and sons should show some interest in our youth as well by sponsoring them rather than spending thousands of dollars on foolish banners and ads on newspapers, “What a Waste”!! Government cannot do all, especially people like you complains about paying taxes especially the VAT.

I congratulate everyone who assisted in one way or the other (including myself) in ensuring that these students made it to these games, it was very expensive but was worth it in the end!
Miss Gabriel has alot of potential, i am following her success.

the young ppl are not representing O D BRIZBABES but the commonwealth of DOMINICA so its the government duty to provide sponsorship for the athletes….

        Mr.Correction
I applaud you in investing in our young peoples, however this is of National Interest, (Importance) if I may say so
Yes I do pay my taxes,I may not like the amount that I am paying but due to my belief, I respect the law of the land and it’s leaders.
Sorry on this one, because you lost me there, how can this not be the government responsibility especially representing the country at a regional and international level,
Sorry again but Brisbane has the right to do what ever he wants with his money, the man is also paying his taxes, it’s known as (freedom of choice)however the government has the responsibility to OUR NATIONAL ATHLETES,there should be a committee in place to insure that their needs are accounted for.And I know their one, but they are doing a very poor JOB.You have more representative going to the functions than athletes come on Mr.Correction let us be honest with ourselves, you don’t need to be a brain sergeant to see the madness that is taking place here.
We have peoples getting paid to represent those athletes for good looks,we need to be more goal oriented . This is not right. We need to be more conservative in this country.
PS.By the way I didn’t speak about taxes on the last post.Soooo

@Bouche, these athletes are not representing the Govt of Dominica they are Representing the Commonwealth of Dominica and as a direct result OD Brisbane and Sons can sponsor them just like how i gave my 2 cents towards ensuring they went to the games.

It could also be a marketing program for the company by having thier name mention as sponsors.

      • Nonsense
        April 11, 2012

@Correction… Who Luan Represented when she was at the Games… Dominica Right? Isn’t is the Government responsibility for all of us Dominica… when he goes out there and look for Money for the the Country, ain’t we all benefiting from that Money… Isn’t there a Sports Ministry? You people need to think before you… Who’s getting the good Name….Dominica. The Government it responsible for the country, Just how they can improve road they can improve youth development and sports in Dominica. The Youth ARE NOW!!! Not Tomorrow so they Gov’t need to start now not When we get Medals alone… This is Complete Nonsense… And I personaly know all what some of these athlete go through to represent DOMINICA!!! AND THE GOV’T IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COMM’ OF DOMINICA. If private businesses choose to come onboard it is their choice…all well and good but we have to rely more on the government for assistance than on private businesses…..
