Chris Gayle blasts Bangalore to victory in IPL

Chris Gayle hit an unbeaten century as Bangalore Royal Challengers thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders in their Indian Premier League encounter in Kolkata.

Gayle announced his arrival to the competition by blasting seven sixes and 10 fours en route to a 55-ball 102 against his former franchise as Bangalore chased down their target with 11 balls to spare.

Earlier, batting first after losing the toss, Jacques Kallis (40), Gautam Gambhir (48) and a quickfire 46 from Yusuf Pathan helped the Knight Riders to 171-5 but it proved to be insufficient with Gayle at his destructive best.

Harbhajan Singh claimed five wickets to help Mumbai Indians clinch a sensational eight-run victory over Chennai Super Kings.

Mumbai set a target of 165 for Chennai on the back of Rohit Sharma’s 48-ball 87 and the defending champions could only reach 156 for nine despite a battling unbeaten half-century from Subramaniam Badrinath.

Harbhajan derailed Chennai’s chase with his magical spell of five for 18 and was backed up well by a brilliant fielding display led by Kieron Pollard.

The cricket teams of yester years are a dream over. Can we forget those west Indians
who were role models of sports ethics.I still remember the test (5 day) that ended in a tie
between west indies and Australia. The present gen will sure admire the west indies. Now
    it is all over.

For only a short period of time. After is it business as usual. They will only step up if there is a possibility of losing it if they don’t perform. Once they know they are guaranteed an income, they really don’t put out very much.

If he performs better in the IPL them why does he want to hug a space on the Windies. The West Indies board must clean out all these ambivalent players and get a squard of committed professional players. Brian lara was the one who started this kind of attitude, he thought he was above the game and was playing hafl heartedly.

Its not only the money which make Gayle perform better. Its also the spectre of local indian fans cannibalizing him if he does not deliver. Indian fans don’t play like West Indians

If west indies had lost the game to Pakistan I wonder if he would have came out and performed. This guy is such a wicked person. He seem to think west indies is beneath him. His own nations. I am happy that he is out there and not with the team. At least now we have a team that work together and not individuals. Individuals do not win nothing! When was the last time gayle scored for windies? Yet he has the audacity to perform like that for money. Go on and make your money big man. Forget your people. See where that gets you

Well I guess it’s a matter of economics then, dive where you get paid the best. And don’t give me that crap about playing for country and patriotism, last time I checked these two words did not pay bills!!

I am certain that he is going to be awesome throughout the IPL season. He however has been performing piss-poor for West Indies, which seems to indicate to me that he is really not as interested in West Indies cricket as he would like us to believe.
