Chris Gayle to return to West Indies

Gayle

The way is now clear for estranged batsman and former West Indies captain Chris Gayle to be back in West Indies colours. This was confirmed in a release issued on Wednesday by the Head of the Caricom Sub Committee on Cricket Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer.

A statement of resolution signed by West Indies Cricket Board President Julian Hunte, Chris Gayle and PM Spencer said, “Both sides admit that their respective shortcomings contributed to the debilitating impasse and its prolonged nature and resolved to bring it to an end.”

I thought the west indies cricket board was smarter than Gayle….lol I cannot stand the west indies board for what they are doing to west indies cricket but Gayle is playing them like a piano. Gayle is only considering coming back because he needs his letter to play in the IPL and if he refuse to play for the west indies this time around he have to retire and stay 2 yrs out of cricket. He is worried about his money and age …..go figure

This guy should be seen for who he is. He is an egocentric meniac who thinks West Indies cricket revolves around him. He most likely grew up in an environment withdrawn from authority. He needs to know who is the BoSS and recognise him as the BoSS.

There is only one batsman that every bowler on every cricket team truly fears!!! Chris Gayle can have them begging for mercy and feeling embarassed as he blasts boundary after boundary,,say what you want but he is still One of the most destructive batsmen in the world!

It seems most are missing the point, this is no longer about cricket or the love for it, it is about money and Gayle in a WIndies shirt means more money for the WICB that is all that matters, like him or not he can sell off a stadium in quick time.

He needs to be pushed back out. He will be a great distraction. He stands for nothing but money. He has no interest in test cricket, he is lazy and was diffident as captain. Just why is he returning. Returning for what?
Good thing is that coach Gibson and my good friends on the board like Hilaire and company will not put up to his arrogance and pompous nature.Gayle my brother you are not welcomed on this present team.

Rights what. Gayle stands for nothing. And he is no better than any other player on this team.In fact i would not have dropped any of the players on the one day team to make a place for him. Is he bigger than the sport?

Gayle’s return will be an unecessary distraction for the WI team.

He and Ottis Gibson will not get along.

Gayle should concentrate on making his money in fete matches (that’s how I see 20/20 cricket) around the world and leave space on the team for younger more committed players.

Bringing back Gayele us a very bad move that the WI Board will live to regret.

    • forreal
      April 5, 2012

i respect your point on the younger players ,but keeping out gayle is like keeping out kobe bryant from the lakers basketball team, you need a strong hand for two reasons,1 to encourage your young players,2 you got a reputation to live up to,you can not doubt that westindies got some big shoes feel in,i do not have to spell them out,we all know the big names, and really gayle fits that profile

    • Hate ignorance
      April 6, 2012

I totally agree to your comments , Gayle thinks he is now bigger than west indies cricket and can hold the team at ransom . That should not be allowed . Because he is a millionaire our money is too small for him. Just analyze his performance when he is playing for big money games for other teams to when he is playing for WI. Two different levels of commitment and performance. I think Gayle has done his share for west indies and should be left alone. Recycling Gayle is going to make it more difficult for up coming stars like our own Kavem. Gayles return is going to destabilize our young and upcoming team , look how far we have come, even beating Australia. Are we going to eat our vomit now. shame.

I don’t have any personal bias against Chris Gale but I am of the opinion that his heart is not in the West Indies camp. When he is batting on a West Indies team he produces 20’s and 30’s but when he is playing where the big money is, he is transformed into a beast who is destroying the bowling attack. Hummm. You people judge for yourselves when he starts batting for the Windies again. Some may not agree with me now, but you will agree with me in the end.

this is what i am trying to say, money makes jumbie dance, the west indies cricket high time got to realise that this is a proffesional job, find a way to pay this guys better incentives, they have wives and children depending on them.

      • The truth
        April 6, 2012

The WICB is making millions from companies like sky. They are getting paid the same money that every other international team get paid for broadcasting. They share it among themselves. That’s why they cannot pay the players. The rest the players don’t get is lost due to bad management of funds. West indies makes good money, every international cricket supporter supports their team and then west indies. And Add the Caribbean to that, with good marketing we could probably make even more cash. But giving the players head ache is higher on the agenda than promoting the team and making it a successful world brand

after reading a number comments posted here on chris gayle, some people i am left to wonder where are they getting there facts from, there is a big conflict as to gayle actions,to which i just dont see,in fact it’s a totall contradiction,he made a statement conserning the cricket governing boad, some people seem to have it like he totally has no right to speak his mind, what some people fail to realize is that, there was a series of events leading up to that statement, for example there was a contract issue, players being under paid, which is a fact westindies players are lowest paid players in the world, grown men who got there families to feed,i wonder how they suppose to do that, when all they do is play cricket for a living, anyway as far as i can remember is one thing lead to a next, statements were made in the aftermath, but who know as to what caused what transpired to take shape,we are on the outside looking in,and yet still blasting gayle, when actaully they are the ones who are in the kitchen,as far as i see all this comments are biased,i am not into this big and small island thing at this point, westindies needs all it’s talented batsmen and best players at this point in time, and to be quite frank, gayle is the best batsman in the westindies today, cut the man some slack, you guys are choking him up,it would not be pretty for you guys with that stupid looks on you all faces, when he shows what westindies cricket spirit is all about, get over it folks.

Gibson has moulded these young players to work as a team and I believe Gayle will be a distraction. Gayle can only foster one good innings per test he is injury prone as well so let him take a hike we are doing well without him thank you

Gayle does not worth the West indies team a crap. Let the team build up under Sammy. Gayle had his fair chance. He proved that he was useless.Let him sit on the bench all the time.

  24. The truth
    April 5, 2012

It is about time somebody had come up against the WICB and in some ways I take this as a win. I hope this sets a precedent and they realise that players must be treated with respect. This has been going in since around 2005 between board and player with the board practically ruling with an iron fist like gadaffi. Cricket is not gayle’s nor the board’s nor caricom. It is ours! I believe he will perform better now and we definitely need him to do so up the order since our runs seem to start from five down. The young lads need both Gayle and sammy on point to round up the troops with bravo and continue on the path. Every single international bowler trembles when Gayle is at the wicket. Don’t let us down boy.

    • The truth
      April 5, 2012

“I meant since 1995 between board and players” And by the way, it is not all sammy’s doing why the team is performing. Gibson has a vision and a way of creatin teams and competition for places on the squad. That is where wi have changed in the last year.

  26. ....................
    April 5, 2012

They should make him sit on the bench and carry water for the real players who are concerned about West Indies cricket. This man is all about money and he does not care a d– about the sport of cricket.DON’T PICK HIM! HE IS A WASTE OF TIME!

If he is part of the team that is supposed to be in Dominica, I am waiting to see if his return will lead West Indies to victory against the Aussie. If not then Chris Gayle is just full of wind as his name says.

Gayle’s absence from the Windies team was testimony that the sport does not revolve around him. The game is bigger than any one individual player. Hope he calls it a day and never decides to play for the Windies again, because he will definitely be a distraction.

@massacre i support your comment over 350%, all i want to know now is who they going to drop for Gayle sake? What about Sammy, i think he is doing great as captain will they replace him for Gayle sake? and finally will Gayle co-operate with Sammy?

Gayle is too full of himself and personally when he returns i stop supporting!!!! When WI was at its’ lowest what did Gayle as captain do, pull a strike and caused Bangladesh to beat us in Dominica!!! I would fire mister longtime.
