Cricket, lovely cricket comes to Dominica once more

Gifford Walsh, event manager for the test match, at this morning's press conference

The Dominica Cricket Association (DCA) in association with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and chief sponsor of West Indies Cricket, Digicel, have this morning launched Dominica’s hosting of the Third Digicel Test against India, to be played at the Windsor Park Stadium from July 6th to 10th.

Speaking at a press launch this morning, Events Manager for the Test Match, Gifford Walsh, remarked that he is quite satisfied with the events that we have hosted previously.

Walsh said, “This is the third straight year that we are hosting international cricket in Dominica and we, along with the West Indies Cricket Board, are pleased so far with the outcome of our efforts. Much of that success is as a result of the tremendous efforts put in by the management team.”

Also in attendance was DCA President, Emmanuel Nanthan, who said, “Today we are here at the dawn of a new era. We are entering the era of Dominica’s Windsor Park becoming the newest facility in test cricket.”

Nanthan added that despite the challenges Dominica faces as a nation and the board faces as an entity, he was confident that Dominica would put on a good showing at the upcoming tests. He was also thankful for the support that has been shown from the Ministry of Sports, the sponsors of the event, the Diaspora and Dominican’s here at home.

Walsh, you sounded very well. I must say you have improved with your public speaking especially letting us know of the cricket and what is expected. Listening to you about the cricket brings back to mind the way Mrs Walsh commentates at mass at St Alphonsus. A powerhouse she is! Good luck with your preparations for World Class Test match

u sound like a big name fanatic and not a cricket fanatic.. the DCA have nothing to do the with the lack of “big” names in the upcoming matches.

its seems to be just our bad luck, but the entire caribbean will be getting the same short end of the stick.

This weak indies team will not beat India……apart from sarwan and chanderpaul no one would have made the indian side, in other words is like first division playing against third division….they won a game against Pakistan and failed to secure a series win……test cricket is coming to a close. bring on twenty/20………..
