DABA considering disciplinary action against players

dabaThe Dominica Amateur Basketball Association (DABA) is considering taking disciplinary action against the players of De Treads No Look and Paix Bouche Eagles basketball teams.
This, after referees, in the 4th quarter, called off  their game which was played last weekend,   because of an altercation between the players.
The association has taken the decision not to replay the game.
The DABA says it will release a full statement later.
Meanwhile the following are the results of the other game which was played.

Massacre Black Hawks – 48

Jason Lee – 13
Lowell Ryer – 12
Dane Robin – 7

St. Joseph Hurricanes – 55

Jerry Wright – 12
Brian Shillingford – 11
Keston Williams – 8

The local association for basketball will continue to be called the Dominica Amateur Basketball Association (DABA)because it is pursued in a non-professional or unpaid manner. I agree that disciplinary action such as game suspenions is required but you cannot expect to $$FINE$$ anybody when there is a lack of financial benefit. Anybody engaged in Amateur sports do so “partly” or wholly for the love of the game and have never competed for payment or for monetary prizes.

I don’t see why the president have to make that announcement on DNO. Very unprofessional. No wonder the association can go no further than where it is. Wasn’t there another way to deal with it? They need a new president to show Dominica what a basketball association should be like.

Do you know since I was a teenager – AND I AM NOW IN MY LATE 50’s – the Basketball has been called Dominica AMATEUR Basketball Association. Can’t they lose the “Amateur” bit by now and call themselves the Dominica Basketball Association? I find that is long overdue

Hello. This isn’t good for an organized league. The game should be continued but the players who were involved in the altercation should be suspended for one game and fined. The other players who left the bench but wasn’t involved in the altercation should be fined for leaving their benches . Also by not continuing the game BADA is giving in to this type of unprofessional behavior .
