DABA names team for Sugar Creole Basketball Festival

After the cancellation of the Windward Island Basketball Tournament the Dominica Amateur Basketball Association (DABA) has been working with other OECS islands to revitalize regional basketball.

This year we saw the visit of an Antigua Club Team and now in conjunction with St Kitts and Nevis Basketball Association the newly named basketball tournament ” Sugar Creole Basketball Festival” has been created. This tournament will get underway on Friday November 11 to 13, 2011 in St Kitts. The Dominica team is expected to leave island on Thursday to play a series of games against the St Kitts National Select, National Champion Team and a Division A Champion Team.

The Dominica Amateur Basketball Association has named the following persons to represent Dominica:

Simon Joseph
Jeffrey Joseph
Thomas Felix
Yamada Parker
Junior Aisles
Ricky Toussaint
Derek Alexander Asst.  Coach
Mickey Joseph Coach
Dave Baron Manager

Left out of the 15 man team were Steve Hypolite, Earl Mathew, Joseph Hypolite , Joni Rivierre and Ryan Anslem (Asst. Coach) for work and family commitments.

This collaboration or tournament between Dominica and St kitts is expected to be an annual affair, in hope of revitalizing regional basketball.
