Go Dominica! However, next time we ought to do better with representation. Dominica has the least number of participants (2) among the 41 member group.

I noticed that too Pedro. The officials outnumber the athletes. Looks like a junket for the boys again, all expenses paid.

Its great that Dominica can participate. Hats off to the athletes! However do we really need that many officials attending? Why cant a few more athletes represent? Its a pity that we never have enough representation for International Sporting events. How do the youth look up to sports as rewarding outlet? How many of these even know that these games were about to happen? As I said before there should be a more deliberate move my government to budget or seek funding for all manners of international representation among the youth be it sports, academic, entrepreneurial, beauty contests, volunteerism, seminars, etc, . Too often people are begging at the last instant to get funds to participate. There should be more strategic moves towards that. It starts with planning and awareness. Optics matter. The optics with that many officials (granted some are not in the pic) and low number of participants is not the best message to aspiring youths.

@Pedro while i can’t agree with you more on the support from the Government, the NOC’s need to do a better job in allocating the funds that are made available by the IOC and the IAAF to support youth programs and development. The DOC has for some time neglected to make the funds requested for the athlete’s preparation available to the athletes. The program ran smoothly with the prior administration but not with the current one, which coincidently was the same governing crew who caused some of Dominica’s best athletes to either quit the sport or compete for other countries.

Maybe it is time for a change. The administrators do not have the best interest of the athletes at hand.

Some corrections to the story: Jerome Romain won a Silver medal in the Triple Jump. The name of the 400m runner is Chris Lloyd.

Best of luck to all the athletes. Is Emmanuel Loblack going to be an official for athletics at the games or is he the athletics (track and Field) Coach.
