Dominica came from behind to beat the British Virgin Islands (BVI) in the first leg of its World Cup qualifier at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium on the evening of March 26, 2015.

Playing its home game in Dominica because of lack of a stadium facility, the BVI looked a bit flat footed in the early part of the game while the Dominican lads ran the ball and created many opportunities but failed to convert this into goals.

It was not until the 42nd minute that BVI got a ball in the center field through a defense error and Edward Moss made no mistake in putting his team up by scoring the first goal.

However that lead was short-lived when Dominica’s, Glenworth Elizee, capitalized on a BVI blunder in the 45th to get the all important equalizer for the Dominica team.

This sent the almost 2,000-strong Dominican supporters into a frenzy.

At half time the score was 1-1.

Both teams then seem to have stepped on the peddle after the half but it was BVI who took the lead in the 53rd minute when Jordan Johnson got a pass just outside the 18 yards box and slammed home hard and low to the right of the diving Dominican keeper, Glenson Prince, who had no chance of stopping the ball.

The scoreboard showed BVI 2 and Dominica 1.

Then came Randolph Peltier and immediately the game was changed as he danced and played magic around the BVI defense who appeared tired.

After many attempts, Peltier scored a goal at the 75th minute and the game was tied.

In the 85th Peltier was again in action, dancing his way pass the BVI defense and slamming home from close range to give Dominica the lead for the first time in the game.

That basically sealed the fate of the tired looking BVI team and the final score stood at BVI, 2 and Dominica, 3.

The two teams will meet on Sunday at 5:00 pm at the same venue with Dominica needing at least a draw to qualify for the next round against Canada.

The DFA should look into building artificial turf on some of the football fields in Da. Point Michelle , St.Joseph and Mahaut to name a few.

Hope the DFA will improve the playing conditions for footballers all over Dominica. We have a lot of talent to tap into. Lets give our young lads the chance we did not have.
    Congrats on your win!

However , despite reminiscing on the victory , be prepared , BVI will be coming strong . They will seek to hover your main striker , no doubt- but keep effecting passes from all angles necessary , and always remember , it’s team work , without any undue risk to the team and self gratification , anyone can score .So go for it guys , we are with you….. ALL THE WAY

Congrats to the Dominica team on their victory. Get the facts about the game. The 2nd goal was scored by Mitchell Baggio Joseph through and assist from Randolph Peltier and Peltier scored the winner through an assist from Mitchell
