Dominica went down 3-1 last night to St. Vincent in match #2 of their quest to advance to the 3rd Round of the FIVB World Championship Qualifiers.
The game began like the previous one with the 767 men down one set and rallying to win the second. But, unlike the Antigua game, this time, the opposition’s prowess and game plan were unstoppable. Dominica lost 3-1 27-25, 18-25, 25-14, 25-18.
Coach Ericson Leblanc and Captain Ray Robinson both maintained that the team lacked the spirit exhibited in the first match and that they would definitely be ironing out a few things before the team would meet St. Kitts this morning at 9:00 am. They did work hard and ironed out the issues just in time, because it would take all 5 sets for Dominica to be victorious. St. Kitts won the first two sets 25-21, 25-18 but Dominica, knowing what was at stake, fought hard and came back to win the remaining sets and the match:
25-20, 25-23, 15-12.
This put Dominica in a good position as they awaited the winner of the St. Vincent – Antigua match. The 3-1 St. Vincent win placed Dominica in the finals tonight at 9:00 pm. The team will look to repay St. Vincent for the earlier loss and cement their place at the 3rd Round of the World Championship Qualifiers.
We wish them victory!
Congrats on a job well done. Team Dominica
Congrats to the Dominica team. However, this article is poorly written, I initially thought that Dominica was out of the Championship until I got to the last sentence. DNO please have someone proofread the articles prior to posting. I have been noticing that sentence structure is not at the standard it used to be. As always I am very thankful that I can know the events occurring back home; however, more work is needed. This is constructive criticism not a ‘shade’ at DNO.
