KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – Daneal Dupigny and Leic Charles played key roles in leading Dominica to their fourth straight victory over defending champions Grenada by seven wickets on Sunday, virtually assuring them of winning the Windward Islands Under-15 Tournament.

Dupigny grabbed 4-31 from 10 overs and Terrel Toussaint supported with 2-38 from 10 overs, as the Grenadians, sent in to bat, were bowled out for 142 in 49.3 overs at the main Arnos Vale Playing Field.

Charles, one of the most prolific batsmen in the tournament, followed up with 49 not out, anchoring the Dominicans to victory with 56 balls remaining, moving them to a perfect eight points from four matches.

Dominica took early control of the match, grabbing early wickets to leave the Spice Islanders on 23 for three in the first 10 overs through the efforts of Dupigny.

Grenada captain Emmanuel Stuart repaired the early damage with sensible batting to hit the top score of 38 and Darren Nedd made 28.

Dominica proceeded to achieve their target in a confident manner, but lost Toussaint early for eight.

Leic then shared steady partnerships with Gamliel Ophar and Devante Williams to put Dominica firmly on course for victory.

Monday is a rest day in the tournament which resumes on Tuesday, when Dominica face SVG at Arnos Vale 2, and St. Lucia meet Grenada at the main Arnos Vale Playing Field.

Congrats to the under-15 team on winning the tournament. To the coaching staff job well done for keeping the players together and focus. Being committed and having a passion for the game helps alot. To all the boys great job, especially PSS boys. Job well done. I am now calling on the Windward Island Cricket Association, the Dominica Cricket Association and the sports division to put a meaningful program in place to ensure that the talent display is not lost in the next 4 years. Lets develop our talent the way the Jamaicans and Trinidadian do it. Keep that team together, ensure that they attend all tournament that are held through out the region and beyond. Ensure when they pass under 15 that we ensure an under 17 team is establish then an under 19 and am sure we will see our playing dominating the westing under 19 and senior team in years to come. Its our time now. Also to the Windward and Dominica Cricket a Association, develop a regional under 17 tournament so that we keep our talent playing and developing. Invite team from the region, england, india it will not only help our cricket it will also help our tourism and even open doors for our young players. Cricket is now becoming a big money earning like the EPL NBA and NFL to name a few. IPL has shown us that even though you dont make the West Indies you can still make a living by playing cricket. GREAT JOB GUYS.

I think we should start to nurture our young talent. This an example of a youngstar having a bright future. We the communiuty should help to guide and contribute in whatever way to ensure that our talented youngstars stay true to form.We all know there are so many distractions and it can be real hard to maintain that focus which is required to succeed in this very tight competition, especially when you are from a small island like dominica .case and point Shane shillingford!we need to encourage and support our own, cause they are not easy to find .Big up what we have!

“leading Dominica to their fourth straight victory OVER defending champions Grenada” Is it that they defeated Grenada 4 times or they secured their 4th straight victory AFTER defeating defending champions Grenada? DNO your sports reporting can be so misleading at times… English is a …..
