Dominica suffers second defeat in football tournament

Dominica couldn’t score the equalizer in the second half

Dominica’s chances of winning the Windward Islands senior football competition were dashed on Friday evening when they were beaten by St Vincent 3 goals to 2.

The game, played at Windsor Park Sports Stadium, started badly for Dominica when St Vincent scored in the opening minute of play through Kevin Francis.

Oalex Anderson scored in the 15th minute to put his team up two nil. Dominica retaliated with a goal from Matthew Walsh in the 24th minute of play but shortly afterwards, Anderson hit paydirt with his second goal of the match to give St. Vincent a 3-1 advantage.

Dominica scored their second goal in the 35th minute when a long shot from Chris Lawrence beat the diving goalkeeper.

At the end of the first half scores remained at 3-2 in favour of St. Vincent.

Dominica seemed to lack the determination and coordination in the second half and were unable to get the equalizer far less to win the game as they failed to create scoring opportunities.

In the first match of the day, St Lucia beat Grenada 1-nil with a goal scored in the 70th minute of play by Gerlanne Neptune.

St Vincent, on 4 points, will battle an unbeaten St Lucia who have 6 points, for the championship in the first game on Sunday. That encounter begins at at 5pm while at 7pm bottom place teams Dominica and Grenada will play each other to avoid the cellar position in the tournament.

tell me…how can Dominica win a game when the players hardly ever train… If they attend training sessions they are either late or fail to paticipate…. Players on d feild giving each other maypwee instead of encouraging each other..Tell me in which contry that can happen… NO TEAM SPIRIT…. NO DICIPLINE… NO TALENT

Football should be banned in Dominica. them fellas should be stoned on the pitch for their poor display.
    Placing last on home soil.

Definitely more emphasis should be placed on Cricket. They lack strategy and are playing just how the primary school kids play.

tomorrow, you will still hear them shouting Man-U and Arsenal.

If a scout had to come to DA from those European Leagues, would a Dominican qualify? N.O.

yet they still want to control remote and just constant sports channels.
    they doh worth Pa-Tat!

I think they will blame Skerrit, just like Ron Green blame Peter for their failure. THE KEY TO OUR DEMISE IS DISCIPLINE. OUR FOOTBALLERS ARE NOT DISCIPLINED IN ANY RESPECT. HOW CAN THEY WIN WHEN THEY HAVENT GOT TEAM SPIRIT.

Man I luv to stand on the sidelines and criticize my country’s footballers, sure they talk smack about the Chelseas, Arsenals, Man Utds etc, because they dream of playing like them, and sure I can’t or won’t put myself out there to be ripped apart, but it feels good pointing my finger from behind my computer and saying we ain’t sh##.

“Angel”, respect for the constructive criticism tho, and Samatos u funny, I hope.

Only pay the board members if the team wins , money should be used to employ experienced coaches and incentives should be introduced make the team train harder . Losts of money going out and nothing to show for it really sad.

DNO, here is what I believe would be a better topic to this article: DOMINICA SUFFERS DEFEAT AGAIN TO ST. VINCENT

    1. In Football Dominica went down to St. Vincent 3-2
    2. In Tourism, Dominica went down to St. Vincent international Airport to our LIAT Male-Cow-doodoo AKA Bull….t. It was during a DLP delegates conference Prime Minister of St. Vincent told Laborites that Dominica could not afford an international airport and then went to build one in secret in STV. Under Skerrit Dominica will continue to go down to St. Vincent and other islands in everything.

Best it was Team Dominica UWP playing the football.
    Team Dominica UWP would crush
    St Lucia 3-0
    Grenada 5-0
    St Vincent 6-1.

Dominicans are mainly good at playing football with their mouth and playing boaster about how dem know the better moves that expert footballers in European leagues should make.

….smh………….Is to hear some of dem by the playing field or by some rum shop making noise about football……

Dominica’s football problem needs to be addressed starting from the basics.

To any aspiring young sportsman in Dominica who wants to stand a chance of going somewhere in sports, cricket is your best chance okay.
