Dominica takes 3rd spot in Windwards T-20 tournament

Windward-Islands-CricketDominica placed third in the 20-20 cricket competition which was played in Grenada over the weekend.

Dominica took on St. Lucia in the match for third place. St. Lucia batted first and scored 117 for 9 in 20 overs.  Mervin Matthew took 2 for 14, Elton Mark 2 for 26, Vivian Titre 2 for 16 and Liam Sebastien 2 for 15.

Dominica replied with 120 for 6 in 19.1 overs. Kavem Hodge 61 not out and Jerlani Robinson 20, lead the scoring for Dominica.

In the final, St. Vincent beat Grenada by 4 runs in an exciting match.  St. Vincent scored 175 for 6 in 20 overs and Grenada responded with 171 for 6 in their 20 overs.

Dominica’s Mervin Matthew was voted the bowler with the best bowling average. Elton Mark  from Dominica and Dillon Johnson from St Vincent were the bowlers with the most wickets while Gian Benjamin was named best wicket- keeper in the competition

The overall M.V.P of the tournament was Grenada’s Andre Fletcher.

The two day Windwards cricket competition begins on Tuesday with Dominica playing St Vincent and host, Grenada, taking on defending champion, St Lucia.
