The Senior Men’s National Volleyball team got off to a solid start in Set 1 in the final match against St. Vincent last night in the World Volleyball Championship Qualifiers winning the first set 25-22.
The joy was short-lived, however; as St. Vincent regained the composure they exhibited throughout the tournament to win the next 3 sets and the match 25-19, 25-18, 25-21 taking the much-coveted spot in the 3rd round of the Qualifiers.
Despite capturing second place the talent of the team did not go unnoticed as Yahn Florent copped the award for Best Blocker.
The second men’s team to advance to the 3rd round will be determined when St. Lucia, French St. Marteen, Dutch St. Marteen and Anguilla meet over the weekend.
In spite of the results, we extend thanks and congratulations to the guys who represented Dominica at the tournament.
David should resign and give the game a chance to survive
Good run guys
i totally agree with you. David must understand he has served the country well and should retire from these tournaments. He should not completely stop playing but he should continue in local league to maintain his fitness and continue sharing his knowledge but i do believe he should step back and give the younger guys a chance to make a name for themselves
that’s not the issue here, the younger guys aren’t stepping up to the mantle so any veteran still playing on a team will always be placed. if the youth don’t show interest to represent the country then why should skilled and experienced players as david step down? if i was part of that team and surpassing davids age and i am still being called to rep for my land i would gladly accept and do my best.
