Dominican beach volleyball teams qualify in Antigua

Both Dominican male and female beach volleyball teams, which competed in the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Zonal Phase of the Continental (NORCECA) Olympic qualifier held in Antigua from November 18-21, have qualified for the next phase.

Eight countries – Anguilla, Antigua, British Virgin Islands, Dominica Grenada, St. Kitts/Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Vincent – participated in the tournament, each with two men’s and two women’s teams.

Dominica will be joined by St. Lucia, Antigua and St. Kitts in the Caribbean Zonal Phase of the NORCECA qualifier for the London 2010 Olympic Games beach volleyball event. That tournament will be hosted by Trinidad and Tobago from December 15-20, and will include teams from the Caribbean Zone – Trinidad, Barbados, Jamaica and the Netherland Antilles – among others.

The four teams representing Dominica at the Antiguan event were: (Men) David Toussaint and Ronald Bruno; Ray Robinson and Lincoln Riviere; (Women) Catherine Francis and Lenel Williams; and Marcia Gustave and Laureen Lockhart.
