Dominican Boxer, Charles Leatham, knocked out his opponent in a record four seconds while the island secured four gold medals at a Boxing tournament in Martinique.

The Boxing Tournament for Creole Speaking Countries ran from July 2 to July 4 in Lamentin.

Boxers from Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyane, Haiti, St. Lucia and Dominica competed in the event.

Leatham, a welter weight at 69 kg, impressed everyone with his record knock out (see video below) and he also grabbed a silver medal at the tournament.

Dominica also captures two silver medals and three bronze.

The full medal count for the Dominican team is as follows:

-Samond David (80kg light heavyweight) “Gold”

-Esaias Burnette (69kg welterweight) “Gold”

-Jamesy Greenaway (64kg light welter) “Gold”

-Simon Joseph (6kg bantan weight) “Gold”

-Rowain Christopher (75kg middle weight) “Silver”

-Charles Leatham (69kg welter weight) “Silver”

-Mitchel Bertrand (69 welterweight) “Bronze”

-Joachim Isaac (90kg super heavyweight) “Bronze”

-Ghandi Matthew (75kg middle weight) “Bronze”

The team was coached by Job Joseph and Robert Valmond.

    I hope the Dominica Olympic Committee now respect these boxers and invest in the sport. Congrats to the guys and especially Coach Joseph who has a passion for boxing and will always continue to promote the sport.
