Dubique dominates district sports festival

Jubilant Dubique players

The Dubique Community dominated the Southern District Sports Festival, organized by the Sports Division, with first places in six of the events, rounders, cricket, volleyball, track and field, netball and basketball and third place in football.

The absence of three communities Bagatelle, Tete Morne and Pichelin made the activities a little less competitive; however the massive support from the Dubique contingent proved that community support for sports as opposed to team support is the way forward for sports development and the Sports Division’s approach is a positive one.

The other participating communities were Bellevue, Grand Bay Petite Savanne.

Dubique amassed 45 points, Petite Savanne placed second with 26, Bellevue  third with 21 and Grand Bay fourth with 14.

The highlights of the day could be summed up as the massive support by Dubique for Dubique, the Petite Savanne making a return to  Rounders and an exciting  semi final basketball match between the well rested Grand Bay team and the eventual champions Dubique.  Dubique won the encounter 24 – 17.

Dubique…..Good for you. Show the others how to do it. Based on what barbee say you win fair and square. Continue winning and I sure little by little the adults will fall in line. All you getting there.

GREAT: That is what the community sports really is. Use sports to identify the problems…….. use sports to help solve the problems……..

The guy from grand bay who ran for dubique is from “bollum” so after consulting with mr.Brown he was told seeing as he is in the center of grand bay and dubique,he can choose a team to participate with and he chose dubique of his own free will, he was not forced!! Thanks Geon for volunteering on the winning team!! “YOU TINK WE EASY”

Too many times the Dubique people have been underestimated and looked at as inferior. The Dubique people always stand firm and excel in everything that they do!!! It was a fun festival to be at and while the support was lacking from the grand bay community,Dubique was well represented!! “YOU TINK WE EASY”

The Bagatelle referee should not have been allowed to referee the Bellevue vs Petite Savanne Game. Bagatelle, Petite Savanne and Point Carib is a team in the bigger league (Bafondpoint), how do you expect the Bagatelle man to let Bellevue win against Petite Savanne.

That was unfortunate since the first goals by Bellevue were not allowed possibly unfairly.

Sports Division should have controlled that.

Oh Dominicans please have a high esteem for the youths of Dubique. These youths can compete on a much higher level than that. They can represent us abroad if officials of the sports division emphasize their commitment to ensure the youths get the right training.

Whilst I congratulate the Dubique contingent for winning and being so passionate about the sports, the behavior of the adults of that community is an extremely bad example fo the youth. They would set a better example if they could conduct themselves in a more fitting manner. There is no regard for settting a good example of how persons should behave in public.

Also it was not right that in the interest of winning they would take the guy who was running for Grandbay to run for themselves.

Win fair and square in the interest of sports not by any means necessary. Bad example again for the youth.

i believe that they first need to have high esteem for themselves and then we can have.
