Ericson Degallaire is new DFA secretary

Ericson Degallaire

Former president of the Dominica Football Referees Association (DFRA) Ericson Degallaire is the new Secretary of the Dominica Football Association (DFA).

Degallaire replaces Clifford “Bala” Celaire, who was sacked by President Glen Etienne.

Degallaire is also a former general secretary of the DFRA and is described as someone who has a long track record in sporting involvement.

He is currently a qualified cricket umpire.

In accepting the position he stated that he will give his “best as a servant of the sport.”

In making the announcement, public relations officer (pro) of the DFA Gerald George explained that the constitution of the DFA provides that the president select “a secretary that he is comfortable working with.”

George said that Celaire would remain in the post of “Women’s football coordinator”.

“He has done a great job in that area and we will want him to remain and concentrate his efforts in that regard,” George said.

He disclosed that the decision was unanimously endorsed by the DFA board.

I cannot understand why people want to grudge. It is not a Pointe Michel thing. If the best persons come from Pointe Michel, so be it. Do not hate or grudge them . They are capable and big things will come. Congratulations boys.Make sure that you all hold the fort and shut the critics. I know that you all can do it. Glen made an excellent choice in selecting Degallerie as his right hand man.

It’s not our fault that the Pointe Michel guys are motivated to do well in what ever they choose to do.
Seems a few ppl have issues with them doing well. I think all the boys on that managing team will do Dominica proud in football, they have my full support…Nuff respect to you Argo, Spokes, Natty and Zacco. I know you guys are doing it for Dominica..Keep up the good work!

Well done. I just want to congratulate Degallerie on his latest appointment. He has a proven track record and I am sure that he will do well. He has been around for a long time and is more than competent. I am sure that he will work hand in hand with all stakeholders for the further development of this beautiful game.

We still believe in the crab mentality in Dominica.A man like Mr.John who has done so much for football as a footballer,Island football representative and a football administrator, they decided to bite the hand that guided them for so long. We must never forget that is was under Mr. John’s leadership that Dominica became a member of FIFA.We must not forget that it was under Mr. John’s leadership that women football was recognised in Dominica and the Caribbean by extension. What hurts me is the fact, whereas many other Caribbean Football leaders were involved in cash for vote scandal,Mr. John was exonerated, it was about a statue of FIFA,(following the policies or laws of FIFA). I know that them fellars in Dominica were hunting for Mr. John for a long time, remember the famous allegations of trying to dismantle the Football Association and was standing by in the botanical gardens while a very important meeting was talking place in John’s Football House,I rest my case.

Good job at making Degallerie general secretary, but bad job keeping Celaire at Football House. He will undermind anyone he finds in his way. Think it over executive or he may just resign as coordinator.
