Four Dominicans have been chosen by the West Indies Cricket Board to play on the Windward Islands U-15 Cricket Team.
Leic Charles, Alick Athanaze, Maldini Royer and Deneal Dupigny were named on Thursday, to the team to be captained by Emmanuel Stewart of Carriacou.
Two other Dominicans, Terrel Toussaint and Kerwin Dupigny, were named as reserves.
Charles captained Dominica’s team to capture the trophy at the just concluded Windward Island’s U-15 cricket tournament in St. Vincent with five straight wins.
He was one of the most prolific batsmen in the tournament and together with Dupigny, Gamliel Ophar and Devante Williams put Dominica firmly on course to take home the trophy.
The remainder of the team is made up of four Grenadians, four St. Lucians and two Vincentians.
The regional U-15 tournament is expected to take place in Jamaica later this year.
so you mean to tell me sports minister could not even provide a medal or give the boys even if is $50 in and envelope at the function they held? the function was good but papa do better than that .
Please verify, Four Dominicans selected by the West Indies Cricket Board to represent the Windward Islands sometime in July in the 2013 WICB Under -15 tournament in Jamaica……
The names who helped Dominica to bring home the trophy was’nt selected in the Windward U-15 I’am very much confused what’s going on? I might be wrong why can’t society give Jack what he deserved.
thats true Bee am confuse too
Great News!!!! Music to my ears!
Sweet !
Agree with you
@ Positive mind… you do know that cricket IS played int he USA and have played at the youth world cup. You know what that means for our Dominican cricketers. Just give it some time you’ll hear more. We know the USA takes sports seriously not JUST basketball.
To the students of PSS as I am from Portsmouth and went to the Portsmouth Secondary thanks for making us PROUD. And for years PSS is THE BEST school in Sports…you name it we got it. Years years years years the trophy cabinet is so pregnant the school needs a larger delivery room!!!! The trophies have started to have children of their own. The need for an entire room no floor is what will hold them.
Another thing as I have special interest with my old school THE MINISTRY OF SPORTS AND THE SPORTS DIVISION NEEDS TO UP THEIR GAME. MORE GEARS, PROPOSALS FOR BETTER EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING FACILITIES. IT IS ONE THING TO TRAIN ATHLETES IN THE GRASS IN BENJAMIN’S PARK AND ANOTHER THING TO HAVE THEM RUN ON TRACKS IN TRINIDAD AND JAMAICA AND BAHAMAS AND WHERE EVER ELSE. I’M SURE WE CAN FIND SOME FUNDS SOME WHERE.
Parents please take my advice. how many of our boys will make it on the wst indies team? how many of our fathers, uncles, family members that have played cricket in the past and are leaving comfortable? CRICKET is a waste of time
These young talented boys should be playing baseball where they can be offered schorships in the U.S and have a chance to make millions so they can one day contribute to our economy. They are wasting their talents and life playing cricket.
@positive mind – Utter rubbish that you have spoken!! Absolute utter rubbish!!
For any youngster from the Caribbean, cricket offers them the best opportunity for advancement in the field of sports. Are you aware that the West Indies Cricket Board and Dominica Cricket Association are offering university scholarships to promising young cricketers in Dominica and the region? A number of the young Dominican lads are currently enrolled at the UWI Cavehill Campus in Barbados on cricket scholarships where they pursuing courses and developing their cricket further.
Are you aware that a number of young cricketers from Dominican have gotten cricket scholarships/partnerships to spend some time in England and Australia developing their game?
And you come hear talking about baseball, a degenerated form of cricket which the Americans play………
Wait nah, is joke you making man……….

“together with Dupigny, Gamliel Ophar and Devante Williams put Dominica firmly on course to take home the trophy”. And amliel Ophar and Devante Williams are not even reserves. I am confuse.
I am also confused and wonder if stats was not taken into consideration when selection. To Ameliel and Devonte stay focus and continue to press ahead. To those selected congrates and make Dominica proud.
Congrats guys on capturing the title. In the next 5 to 10 years we want to continue hearing of these youngsters as prolific Dominican cricketers. May the authorities continue to work on their developement.
Ya hope to hear all but when they drop some like hot potatoes they fall by the way side taking drugs committing crimes. Please cricket association enroll the boys whom you have not picked for windward tourment ,there is Garfiled Sobers and Under 19 please for their sake my brother is crying like any baby now he said cricket is finish .pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Seeing that Leic Charles was the skipper of the dominant team of the tournament, I can’t understand why he was not made skipper of the Wnwards team as well. Makes a lot of sense to me.
Charles look like the type of batsman who will go very far. A very stylish young batsman. Keep an eye on this one.
Keep up the good works youths u can change the mind set of others with Ur positive attitude.
Let them play with Dominica’s cricketers still, these guys are on “fire, they’re living testimony going through the fire”, and demonstrating ‘they are a force to be reckoned with’. D/cans continue to support our upcoming talents don’t witchcraft them no no ok!
Congratulations young boys. Keep on unto the road to bigger things. There is a lot of cricket going on and at present the cash is good. Please take your schooling seriously and take the game to heart. Wish all of you success and great things ahead. And parents please support them in every way possible.
congrats boys but i have one question… If Charles as the captain for Dominica won the championship why isn’t he the captain for the windards?
It beggars belief and I just can’t understand the WICB’s thought process on the matter…
If Leic Charles captained Dominica’s team to capture the trophy at the just concluded Windward Island’s U-15 cricket tournament in St. Vincent, with five straight wins, so WHY the West Indies Under 15 cricket team is to be captained by Emmanuel Stewart of Carriacou and NOT Leic Charles?
Your article says that Leic Charles was one of the most prolific batsmen in the just concluded WI’s inter island tournament. This is sufficient evidence and I would have thought the right success measure on his performance to qualify my assertion of his rise to prominence.
stupes these children should be playing baseball where they can get scholorships to any university in the u.s. Where they have a chance of being professionals and make millions. having them invest their youth playing cricket in the caribbean is a waste. Waste of talent. that is so sad.
congrats to the boys who brought the team in winning position Charles,Gamliel Ophar and Devante and Dupigny.under 15 team great job to you all.
Great news for our Dominican Youth. Keep it up
The entire team should come from DA !
That Team would be called the Dominica under 15 West Indies team hahah maybe next time !!!
