`I was forced to make myself ineligible for Pakistan tour’ – Gayle

Gayle
Gayle

After speaking open and honestly in an interview yesterday with KLAS FM in Jamaica, West Indies Cricketer Chris Gayle felt extremely relieved to share with the people of the Caribbean what he has been through with the WICB and the ways he has been treated unfairly by them.

To further clarify his position, Chris felt it necessary to detail a few key points that he wanted to make sure were understood by the people of the Caribbean. Here in his own words are the two key points he would like everyone to know:

“I want to play cricket for West Indies. I am a West Indian first and it has been a privilege to play for my country and the West Indies.”

Gayle wants a pay rise for being a liability on the field and being a one innings wonder his feet seems to be loaded with lead so that he can’t move them.To give them a pay rise is to condone inefficiency thanks for the bad memories. Cricket is a high tec game and as soon as the class bowlers found out his inability to move his feet, he was a gonna. In the ipl which is his forte the bowlers have only four overs to bowl so he has the license to free his arms

Wet Indies cricket board has never been fair to its players. Look at just a year ago when these guys were beginning another series while still not having received payment for the previous one.

Chris Gayle has not been liked because he is not afraid to speak. Why is it that the Board and the ICC cannot leave that IPL two month window open so that players who are chosen can freely play? It would be a good chance to have some training for the others who remain here. Are you seeing the Indian, Sri Lankan, South African, Austrailian, New Zealand players having any issues? No, and that is because they have no series at that time so their players who are chosen do not have to stress about who they play for.

Let’s be real, loyalty is one thing, but those guys can only play for a few years and if they have the chance to make some more money good for them because they will have a life to leave after cricket. WI board as well as the ICC need to get with program. There are ten other months in the year for God sake… Gayle does not always perform to meet our expectations but no sportsman does, not Lara, not Viv, not Tandulkar as good as he may be, not Kobe… just look at Tiger, one of the greatest ever now experiencing a flat moment… it happens to the very best!

West Indies is the worst team in the world, the current captain was not even a regular on the first eleven, the man cant field, bat or bowl…….chris gayle is most destructive one day batsman, pakistan is laughing!!!!
No chris, no win….west indies cricket is lacking in every single dept, from management all the way down to the 12th man, they have tried Devon Smith a hundred times….useless!!! they might as well put a basket behind the stumpes,
Chris Gayle has done his best for west indies, he scores more runs than the entire team so leave the man alone…….now he is gone let me see allu win without him…….NEVER..EVER..LICKS ON WINDIES.

No Chris no win? Is he god? Didn’t they just win a t20 without him? And since when individuals win anything? This is a team sport. All we need is for the top five to score 50each and we good. We don need gayle at all. Players come and go. Gayle can go if he likes. Simple. They never dropped gayle either. Didn’t u read his comments? The man said he was dropped for the firs two games and thought that if players performed well he could be out for the series so he left. The man was injured after the wc and that’s y he wasn’t playing the first two. He would have been back when fully fit. Gayle want his money so let him go. I think that decision will hunt him because if wi perform well, and I think they will. It will be known that he is not needed, then he will be out for good for sure

Bye Bye Chris. You never cared for no WI so don’t try to fool people. Only cared for your pocket. Too many youngsters in the side for you to influence the wrong way so Bye Bye. You won’t be missed by true WI cricket fans.

You people answering the news are so blinded, Chris does not need the money I am sure he has made enought money, he is a very rich young man, the WCIB, did the same thing to Viv Richard, Lara, and so many more of your great cricketers, remember what they did the Desmond Hayes, my God, how quickely we West Indians forget, this present Westindian Board is worst than ever, they sold the WI Team into slavery to Digcel, they treat our players so bad, who the hell plays a Test Match in the UK in April or May? every other Cricket Team and their plays have more than on sponser, we the WI team are not rich but we have only one sponser, the richer Teams like the England,SA,India, Pakistan, NW, the Aussies and Sri Lanka, have more than one sponser, if we the West Indian public had listened to our Team six years ago, when they were striking for a better deal, our West Indian cricket would be in a better state than it is now, but then that is the story of greedy men the West Indiesn Board is like LIAT Board, a bunch of greedy useless MEN.
Gayle, was a STAR yesterday in the IPL, he will always shine God is good, the West Indian Board will fall on day soon, I am PRAYING!!!!!!!!!!11

Mr. Gayle, I have watched you time and time again batting and generally on the field of play and I have never been impress. The is a school of thought that says to me that Chris is saying hell with West Indies,I am in to because of the financial rewards it carries. Moreover, I am of the opinion, that you do not have West Indies cricket at heart as you claimed to be. However, you are not the only one, but I have seen you as the foremost.

IPL (Indian Premier League) is one of the highest paying leagues in the world- it ranks among the NBA and EPL (english premier league). In fact according ESPN on the the latest report on the highest paying sports teams, 5 IPL teams rank in the top 50 which of course is an incentive for any player to go play in that league. if i was in gayle’s shoes i would make the same choice, u have a limited timeframe as an athlete to make as much money as possible, WI is was waste of time.

Infact i feel test match cricket is something of the past, the ICC should get with the program and focus solely on ODI’s and T20. Also International cricket should revolve around the major crickets leagues in the world- like how football does. If more focus is made on promoting local/ regional leagues then i’m sure that’ll help promote the sport and increased tv rights will increase the salaries of kids who cant make it to their country’s team. international sport should only take place during league breaks… its time cricket gets mainstream cuz i feel its dying- especially in the Caribbean.

    April 22, 2011

You know unless we know all the facts, we need to reserve judgement. As an avid cricket fan, I have listened with disdane at some past cricketers turned commentators and WICB board members. They are jealous of the money being made by current athletes. I mean, we cannot compare times gone by with now. Twenty years ago, no one was being paid to play cricket. Now, cricket has become a more competitive sport with highly paid athletes.

Everyone of hese people complain that the athletes want too much money. Oh please!! They are the ones who sacrifice their bodies. WICB has a problem with Chris Gayle because he is not afraid to ask for increase in pay. We the fans pay big money to see cricket. The athletes deserve the bulk of the money. Go Chris go! I am your biggest supporter.
