Intermediate Cricket League results and schedule

In the Kubuli/First Caribbean Intermediate Cricket League organized by the Dominica Cricket Association, rain took a heavy toll on the six matches that were scheduled for the weekend of February 5 and 6.

Only one match was completed with the other five being abandoned because of the inclement weather.

In the only completed match played at the Geneva Playing Field in Grand Bay on Saturday, New India Cavaliers had the better of Marinor Blasters in a low-scoring encounter.

Batting first, after being 52 for 1, Cavaliers struggled to make 77 all out in 18.4 overs.  Jelani Robinson knocked 35 and Kaven Hodge had 35.  Bowling for Marinor Blasters, Elton Mark took 5 wickets for 20 runs in 6.5 overs, Abraham Durand 3 for 10 in 4 and Anthony George 1 for 21 in 3.

Marinor posted 53 for 8 when they were timed out after 24.5 overs.  Elton Mark knocked 12.  For New India Cavaliers, Odiamar Honore captured 4 wickets for 15 in 4 overs, Irving Tavernier 2 wickets for 0 runs in 1.5 overs, Kaven Hodge 1 for 15 in 6 overs and Joslyn Charles 1 for 11 in 5 overs.

On Saturday, at Botanic Gardens, the Denovo versus Carib Territory and Mahaut United versus Quality Supplies Christian at Benjamin’s Park were abandoned.  The Sunday Fixture at Grand Bay – Gallion United versus Dr. Darroux Pacers, D.C.C. Pirates versus Trafalgar Raiders at Botanic Gardens and Grand Bazaar Dublanc Stars versus Nagico Northern Stars at Benjamin’s Park – were all abandoned because of heavy rains on the weekend.

Thats commendable but we need photos of top performers like is done in Barbados so the public can get aquainted with the upcoming Cricketers like Elton Mark, who I believe was one of the under 19 Cricketers in St Vincent in 2010, who also seem to be a great out fielder and batter. The DCA is being commended highly for that step and thanks to DNO for making this possible, I hope for FREE, as a contribution to the develoment and marketting of Dominica’s Cricket. The DCA needs to purchase a few Digital Cameras to enable selected individuals to take photos of the top performers at every venue. Great Move DCA and DNO.
