The West Indies side I saw last April playing against a solid Pakistan team showed some promise as well as a measure of determination and grit. No doubt some Windies fans saw a glimmer of hope at the time for the future of our maroon capped cricketers in spite of the recent questionable actions of the WICB. It is truly puzzling then to grasp how things have fallen apart so quickly and disastrously against England. Most knowledgeable cricket fans would not have expected a relatively young Windies team to outclass the more experienced and capable England team; however, some might have anticipated our Caribbean side would at least make a creditable showing. I know there are still two tests remaining but it is really hard to be encouraged after such a pathetic display by our fellas in the first match. The WICB need to seriously reassess the direction of West Indies cricket in order to formulate a viable plan that will stop the continuing precipitous fall of our beloved regional side.

I personally think that the West Indies has the talent to compete. Our biggest failure is lack of discipline to bat for long periods. Our batsmen usually get out to injudicious stroke play rather than to good bowling. However, the team is pretty young and the experience that they gather on this tour should pay dividends hopefully in the future. They need to focus and apply themselves. This match though was severely embarrassing.

If we had scored 137 in the first innings and 168 in the second then I would have said “at least the guys learnt something from the first innings and improved in the second”, but as it is what can I say…

Nathan and Camron did not play, so the west indies were at a disadvantage. Hopefully these inform cricketers will be available for the next test to give England a beating. Time for Holder to step aside…..bunch of jokers!!!

These are a bunch of school boys playing against seasoned professionals. There is no competition here.

Windies board, selectors, administrators. players must get their act right or we will continue to be.the laughing stock of world cricket. The ICC and the cricketing world wants West indies on the fixture but lerforming better.
England in particular how have the chance to make West Indies “grovel” and they are loving it
That not withstanding the current players who are under pressure because of all those issues, they can’t get their foot to the pitch of the ball with bat and pad and pad close together. The basics of batting. What a shame!!!

Is it not time to change HOLDER as captain of the W I cricket team? this young man seems to be a demoralized leader, losing on a continuous basis usually leave doubts on ones ability, which tends to pass down on other team members. Confidence is truly lacking, causing players with real ability to fail. Their failure also have an effect on us as a people, because of the life line that comes with winning, plus, it is the only thin string thats keeping us together as so-called WEST INDIANS. Bob D.
