LIME brings cricket action to the Caribbean

The Caribbean’s leading telecommunications provider, LIME, and the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) are teaming up to bring the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 to over two hundred thousand households in Antigua-Barbuda, Grenada, Jamaica and St Vincent & the Grenadines.

CMC is broadcasting a total of 49 games over a 37-day period ending 2 April. The final will be held 2 April at the world-famous Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India. India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are hosting the tournament, with 14 nations split into two groups of seven for the first round. West Indies is in Group B with India, South Africa, England, Bangladesh, Ireland and Netherlands.

Television viewers in Antigua can tune in to ABS, Grenada GBN TV, Jamaica CVM TV, and those in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, SVG TV.

“We are proud to be able to bring this thrilling competition to the people of the Caribbean,” said Chris Dehring, LIME’s Chief Marketing Officer. “West Indians are passionate about cricket, and about sport in general, and so too are we. As a Caribbean company, we are delighted that we can pursue partnerships to give our customers access to exciting occasions like Cricket World Cup, English Premier League and very soon the CARIFTA Games.”

LIME has a long history of association with sport in the Caribbean. The company enjoyed a record 20-year sponsorship of the West Indies cricket team. More recently, LIME has also entered into an historic arrangement to provide regional television coverage of the CARIFTA Games, the region’s premier track and field competition.
