KINGSTOWN, St Vincent, Jan 20, CMC – Dominica’s Emmanuel Nanthan has been returned as president of the Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control (WICBC) for another two-year term.
At its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in St Lucia last week, the WICBC elected Nanthan unopposed for a second two-year term.
“I must say I am quite pleased with the confidence placed in me and my colleagues to continue the work we have been doing,” Nanthan told CMC Sport.
Elson Crick, of St Vincent and the Grenadines, was also returned to the position of vice president.
Crick and Nanthan will represent the WICBC as Directors on the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). Grenadian Cecil Greenidge is the alternate Director.
Nanthan praised the work of his executive as they enjoyed a positive 2009 campaign and promised to continue the building process.
“Last year, the Windwards had its best showing in regional first class cricket for 25 years. It was the result of great teamwork and contribution by all in our set-up. We pledge to continue the hard word toward moving Windwards and West Indies cricket forward,” Nanthan added.
The senior team’s selection committee has Julian Charles, Stanley Hinds, and Charles Walters while Irvin Warrican, Raphael Croney, and Keith Charlery are junior team selectors.
Manager Lockhart Sebastien and coach Ian Allen remain in charge of the senior team set-up while the Under-19s will have Shawn Edward as manager and Ray Duncan as coach and the U15s will have Samuel Holder (manager) and Dwain Gill (coach) in charge.
Nantan is a busy man he is more interested in travelling on political missions. Cricket needs a more committed person to take us to a higher level in Dominica
congratulation nanthan am not in dominica so am not gana say much i just hope that the guys in dominica take the game very serious and i agree with one other person four days of cricket instead of two so therefore when we go to the windward island tournament we will bat longer
When are we going to have the Grayson Shillingford Division League side by side with the Agustus Gregoire Division League? And Nanthan, get rid of that two-day Windward Island cricket tournament. It’s all **. Get back to the four-day cricket and let’s see some great batting and bowling from the players.
To Chups,
I take it you are not involved in D/a cricket. It’s not bringing a Dominican down. Educate yourself on what’s happening with Dominica’s young cricketers. I bet you never even been to a first division match to know
hardly any water is provided for players
sometimes mixed signals go off between Dca and Umpires,,,,a game might not have an umpire or two
grounds are usually ill prepared
the list can go on but i’ll stop…..you sound like you know nothing about cricket.
Stick to somethng you do know about.
That’s the problem with you all, bad is good, good is bad.
so what is not nothing he doing for us!
Allu jus cannot see a Dominican rise without printing an urgly picture to try to embarass them.
A real Possy shatta. Represent
i don’t believe this…..when dominica’s cricket is at it’s lowest???? twenty twenty has started up to now, augustus gregoire 1st division is a joke, and you are returned to what. Well i agree.
