New members for Grand Bay Sports Committee

The Grand Bay Sports Committee now has new members to serve for the period August 2012 to June 2013.

The members were elected at a meeting held in the Community on Saturday, August 24.

The general objectives of the committee are:
•    to teach, encourage, promote develop and organize various sporting disciplines in the community
•    Organize selection and management of village representative teams when the need arises
•    Manage existing facilities and to make representation for establishment of suitable facilities and or improvement of existing facilities.

Elected to serve on the committee are:

Secretary…………..Merlyjah Benjamin
Treasurer…………..Brian Bellot
Assistant Secretary/Treasurer….Sherb Alizee

    As a community and district we can do plenty to make the south the best in sports and everything else. Last season was good for cricket, football, rounders and Basketball too. Lets do better this season.

    It is so uplifting that folks like Roy Tonge, ‘Wrecker’ (Arthur)and ‘Bawon (Baron) are actively guiding the young folks like Walson, Brian, Merlyjah, Sherb, Julian, Leroy and the entire community. Sports have been a unifying factor in our community. Keep it up guys.
