DAVA Beach Volleyball tournament at Layou

The team of Johnny Seraphin and Reginald Thomas emerged winners in the DAVA Beach Volleyball competition held on the Layou beach, on Sunday 28th March.

They defeated David Toussaint and Ronnie Bruno in straight sets 21-11; 21-19, in the final match of the day; and the pair will represent Dominica in the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Beach Volleyball Tournament to be held in St. Lucia from April 30th to May 2nd, 2010.

The other two teams which reached the Semi-final stage of the competition were  Ray Robinson and Stevenson, and Sherwin (“Power”) James and Othoma James, all of the MCCU Sunrise Club of Marigot.

Eight teams – all male, participated in Sunday’s contest.

The DAVA Beachvolleyball Coordinator, Bristol Lawrence will be arranging training sessions for Dominican team in preparation for the regional tournament.

    Congratulations to the organizers of this tournament. it’s refreshing when a group of people get together and use one of natural resources to spur peaceful friendly competition amongst each other. Hopefully, future turnouts for such competitions will increase.
