Shane Shillingford called up for 2nd test in Trinidad

Dominica News Online (DNO) has been informed that Shane Shillingford will be part of the West Indies squad for the second test between Australia and the West Indies to be played in Trinidad from the 15th of April.

A source close to Shillingford told DNO that the off spinner has been recalled to the West indies squad after he passed a fitness test in Barbados on Wednesday.

According to the source “with the emerging competition from spinners like Bishoo and Narine, particularly Narine, Shane has continued to capture the eye of selectors by putting on brilliant performances in the WICB four day tournament this year”.

The 29 year-old Shillingford made his test debut against South Africa in June 2010.

After playing in two test series for the West Indies, his action was deemed illegal. He underwent remedial work and made his way back into the side for the Bangladesh tour in 2011.

He has so far played five (5) test matches for the West indies and has taken 14 wickets at an average of 56.78.

The third match in the current test series between the West Indies and Australia will be played in Dominica from the 23rd of April and Dominicans will be hoping for the added bonus of Shillingford being selected to the West Indies team for that match.

MY ELEVEN FOR DOMINICA TEST MATCH:

    1.Barath
    2.Powell
    3.Kirk Edwards
    4.Bravo Daren
    5.Chanderpaul
    6.Baugh
    7.Sammy
    8.Shane
    9. K Roach
    10. Rampaul
    11. Bishoo

Fidell is too ill disciplinEd in his bowling and batting he is like a maverick and thats not acceptable in cricket.

RAMNARINE HAS A VERY POOR BATTING TECHNIQUE / POOR FEET MOVEMENTS. POOR SHOT SELECTION AND WILL NEVER SCORE AGAINST AUSTRALIA.

THE BOLWING DEPARTMENT NEEDS TO BE STRENGHTENED BY A FRONT LINE SPINNER WHO HAS SOME BATTING ABILITY AND THAT WILL CHOKE THE AUSTRALIANS ONCE ONE BATTER SCORES A CENTURY AND TWO OTHERS SCORE HALF CENTURIES WITH THE CAPTAIN FULFILLLING HIS ROLE AS AN ALL ROUNDER AND BAUGH BATS WITHOUT TRYING TO HIT A SIX THE TEAM CAN POST 450 IN THE FIRST INNING, RESTRICT AUSTRALIA TO 325 AND POST 300 / 6 DECLARED IN THE SECOND INNING AND GO AT AUSTRALIA IN FOUR SESSIONS GIVING THEM A TARGET OF 425 IF THE CARE TO GO FOR IT. ONCE KIRT, BRAVO AND CHANDERPAUL SPENDS TIME AT THE CREASE SAMMY WILL BE ABLE TO SPANK THEM SICK AND I AM OF THE VIEW THAT POWELL IS A MORE ATTACKING CHOICE AND HE LOVES TO BAT AND HAS MORE STROKES THAN THAT GUY WHO TOOK 53 OVERS TO SCORE A HALF CENTURY THAT CANNOT BE ACCEPTABLE IN TEST CRICKET IF YOU TRYING TO WION A GAME. NO WAY HOSEY. HE HAS TO MAKE WAY FOR POWELL NOW.

I would put all west indies spinners in a bag shake it, the one you pick play, that’s how poor WI cricket is…congrats shane but ALAS.. your record is terrible to every 57 balls shane bowls he takes one wicket that is poor, you need to bring this down in the thirties, the greats are in the twenties….so mr shillingford you need wickets….you have my support…..

Shane be careful with the deliveries. If you play and you take wickets, you will see how fast dem Aussies will report you for chucking. Mark my word. That is how they play dirty.

its the Match Officals who makes the calls..

didnt his own fellow west indian offical call him for suspect bowling action before…..

its time we think before we say things

Was it the match officials that made Murali’s life miserable in Australia? When they tore him to shreads after he cleaned them out.

It’s one thing to pick him on the 13, but i hope he plays.

    April 12, 2012

he could get a game in Dominica depending on how the match goes in T&T..

hope the windsor witch isnt a dead strip. could be a turn off as well for him..

he has to improve on his batting that critcal…
Windies dont play two spinners in a match..

my view he is just brought into the camp as a cover and may not play in this series as they took him to India and he didnt get a game..

But Aussie will rap the series up 3-0.

Windies lack the killer instinct to finish off and take the game when its in their laps..

Mental aspects at tough moments of the game is a worry to windies camp…

Windies still have a extremly long way to go before they can be regular winners in the cricket arena…they play in spurts..

WICB board as many caribbean insitutions arent serious of a world class ended product..

they have that tendancy to be weak and not firm and blunt on factual issues..

I am indeed happy for Shane.I am also happy for Dominica Cricket.I am not straying away from shane’s glory.i cannot celebrate full heartily, when iknow of the sub treatment our young aspiring crciketers are encountering.wonder why is it that our kids cannot win a tournament, but there is alot that you do not know .I beg all the cricket experts, crciket lovers ,crciket managers and the investigative jounalis to explore and in quire about the present inhumane conditins that our crickets have to go through to represent our country. It is shameful and the authorities that be, should be held accountable and drastic action should be taken to rectify this shitty situation.i commend the coachesand managers who have to coach these kids under these adverse conditions.kentish,Fernex and mr illiarms continue to do the good work. Please Dominicans lets secure out future crictekers today. So then we can have something to cheer about in the future.Play your part and inquire?

WISH YOU THE BEST BUT YOUR AVERAGE VERY BAD AT 56 ARE WICKET NOT GOOD

    • %
      April 12, 2012

You know nothing about cricket or averages. Averages can be misleading. If you make your debut on a dead wicket and take 0 wicket for 150 runs. 150 is your average. If you get a good wicket next time and take 8 wickets for 58 runs, your average is no longer 150,it is now 26 runs per wicket. So he needs to play more,AND THAT’S WHY WE ARE HAPPY. FOLLOW THE GAME MAN!

@% – Good points with regards to the bowling averages of a newcomer in international cricket. All the best Shane. Spin a web around the Australian cricket team when you get the opportunity to play.

It has nothing to do with jealousy. It’s just the truth and my view of point. In all good it have bad. Everybody cannot like u so u cannot get everybody to comment good stuff about you. The truth is not a sin but an offence. I made my comment based on observations of his attitude. Our young sports men let a lil fame go up to their heads too much and forget they need the support of their very own people. Attitude can make u or break u no matter how good of a sportsman u are.

I never comment under nobody comment and tell them “oh shut up” because that is their opinion. Duminicans for you. That’s y d country will stay how it is. Small minded people. Let people comments move. Make ur comment and leave other people make their own. Hmmmm.
